Absolutely ridiculous that Philipsen is allowed to get away with this type of behavior.
ridiculous riders are accepting this and dont flip him the finger a
He’s french
@@gc641funny
He may not get a fine, even if he did, then I still think the punisment will be greater in the future. Other riders will remember this.
knock his head off w/ an elbow and he'll stop that. We obviously can't depend on the Tour organizers or the UCI to reign in his behavior.
Jasper Phillipsen may have won four stages already, but he went out of his way today to show the world that he was a total loser. Chapeau to Kasper Asgreen for the win, as well as to Victor Campenaerts for his demonic pulls on the front of the break.
I can imagine that behavior from JP was motivation for the breakaway to take the stagewin
He will go down as a ruiner. He ruined Cav’s swan song. He ruined Binniam’s opportunity. And today he tried to ruin the breakaway. Truly a horrible rider.
@@Jaxck77 Truly the biggest a**hole of the peloton.
Repeated and unsanctioned sprint deviations then him saying he won't pull for his own country at worlds against MVDP and then this ?
TdF race commisaires need to wake up
yah he's a disgraces, and 2 of those wins were dirty not holding his lane.
Don't forget Jasper - Disaster celebrating his 2nd place back in TDF 2022.... when he thought he won but WVA already crossed the line 8 seconds prior... LMFAO... he'll NEVER live that down...
The irony of Philipsen chastising another rider for sketchy riding is _palpable_

Yup.

Such poor sportsmanship from philipsen. Should have been sanctioned!
makes you wonder what kind of leverage he has over the UCI?
SSDD
The break were 8 seconds up with 3 km left.
Felt like the peleton weren't motivated to help Philipsen win a 5th stage. Any hedging and moment's doubt, is enough.
man if he tries to run me off the road i'd just kick his bike, make the officials do something about it.
I'm so happy that the breakaway won.
we all do
It is the best feeling in cycling. Well done to them.
Me too was praying tho
Absolutelty
Yep
It's a shame that Philipsen acts the way he does - he is clearly talented and the fastest guy in the tour but it is so undermined by his poor behaviour.
This is where I'm at with it. He could be so good without all of this and then the focus could be on his actual talent. It's just straight up disappointing that he is going to write himself into the history books as another cyclist who is such a poor loser that he will win by any unethical/illegal means necessary. The sport has suffered enough from people like that...
He's very immature. Unfortunately, it seems he will only learn when he will be part of a big crash and will spend some days in a hospital bed... (I'm not hoping it for him, but he is too dumb to learn as most people do).
Biniam he gonna bet him
Is he really the fastest or do we all just believe that to be the case because he keeps winning? Take away MVDP mega leadout and deviations and does he still win? I sorta wonder if he does.
is he the fastest? if he's the fastest why resort to dirty tactics? because he's not the fastest
I was happy Philipsen didn't win today --> KARMA
guy is so good, he'd be so easy to cheer for if it wasn't for his stupid antics
jasper disastar
I will always be happy when he doesn’t win. The guy should have been kicked out of the tour many stages ago.
Ya he is arrogant
Use me as a “he became my least favorite rider during this tour” button
I don't remember rooting so hard for a breakaway as I did today. Couldn't believe my eyes what Philipsen did and I wouldn't be surprised if bunch of sprinters collectively decided to completely block him in the last stage. Shane on him, glory to the breakaway guys, what Campenaerts did in last kilometer was legendary
They can't block him, last time someone tried in the tour, MVDP just elbowed them out of the way, got a penalty and Philipsen could sprint in clear air 🤷
@@N2theLAS that and pretty much all his sprint rivals have already gone home anyway
@@ManWalksDogs true, that's definitely a factor as well
@@N2theLAS sending Jakobsen to the ground as well.
Yeah! Hopefully a bunch of guys crash him hard into the railing during stage 21! Give him a taste of his own medicine! Guy is a disgrace and complete bully
You left out the bit of Asgreens interview where he gave massive cudos to the other three in a breakaway, saying he wished they could have all won.
Awesome seeing such perfect collaboration in what seemed like a doomed break! Chapeu to all four. And DQ the disaster please!
Philipsen must be disqualified. He already had to because previous sprints going from one side to another (Jakobsen explained very well some days ago). But today the images are absolutely embarrassing for this sport. Who this guy thinks he is? Just because winning 4 stages, being green jersey and have a pretty face doesn't make you the king of peloton. Come UCI, kick him out of competition for some months. I'm so happy for Kasper Asgreen victory today
the only reason he isnt DSQ is because he didnt cause a crash on this edition. But a shameful sportsmanship from Philipsen
where did jakobsen talk about it? I would love to see it

Philipsen has put more riders at risk than the motorbikes this year.
I lol'ed and totally understand your joke, but there are differences: the motos didn't do it on purpose AND they got kicked out of the Tour.
Complete opposite to Jasper who purposefully and undeniably put other riders at risk yet didn't get kicked out of the Tour.
He hasn’t.
“Just like half of his sprints in the tour” 😂
Lost respect for Phillipson in this tour
It's the rise and fall, the price for all as the Helloween song said... Philipsen is in the fall time. Such a talent in classics, sprints thrown to waste because of his ego. It is not possible to always win man. And what a bad Tour organization this year... They allow Philipsen to do everything as a spoiled child by their parents, they don't put good barriers on the last 2km of very important climbs and then Motorbikes blocking Pogacar one day, and blocking Vinegaard and Keldermann another day. Terrible organization from the Tour this year.
Shout out to Norway´s Uno-X as well. Came into the tour on a "wildcard" and have been more visible than most first timers! They seem to have a great spirit in the team. Hope to see them back even stronger next year!
I love Uno x , they Are fighters , go skandinavia
They did like nothing this entire Tour...
@@chrissicrossy7000 top 10 on half of the stages so far including two podiums. Johannessen 3rd on a stage behind only Pog and Vingegaard. And their leadout has been visible on basically all sprint stages even though Kristoff has lacked the top speed.
@@kristiankasamoen8854 usually in the breaks too iirc
@@chrissicrossy7000 I do not agree with your opinion. They are first timers and they have not been coming with a team built around a word star but have still been more visible than most first timers. They have tried and failed, like most attempts in TdF BUT trying are first step to succeeding and they have come close several times including today in that great break away. I have seen their attempts from the very beginning of the tour and if you have not then I guess I have paid better attention. I wrote that comment as a "pat on the back" and a recognition of their attempts that several times, including today, were very close to pay of in a more visible way. I wonder why you wrote your comment. Look into the stats of first time participating teams. It are really rare to see them go home with podium results. This is formel 1 of cycling. Do you expect anyone showing up with their first car to break any records? TdF are the worlds hardest annual sports event, burning of more than a marathon a day for 21 days are also about taking pain both mentally and physically and that does not get less hard without a podium or a jersey or a stage win, so an encouraging word should be in order in my world, but apparently not in yours! I prefer my world.
I love that Eenkhoorn still made it to the break, and then beat the peloton too! He gets respect for not succumbing to Philipsen’s bullying.
I'm Belgian myself, but why wasn't this rider disqualified once in his 4 stage victories and today? It's disgraceful behavior, which can never be justified. He has no right to stop someone else from attacking! And in his previous sprints he always deliberately deviated from his line! Exclude him from the Tour de France for 2 years, so he might learn something!
Being Belgian has nothing to do with it. Jus look at what he did to Wout in the sprint recently.
The most probably reason is no one has actually crashed and they don't want the public outcry if he actually got DQ.
No one has crashed because everyone is actually smart to back out and let him bully them, the problem is no rider wants to keep their wheel there and crash with a chance of a career ending injury when they hit the ground so he will keep getting away with it. I do think with atleast the Cavendish deviation the UCI also probably didn't want Cav to beat the record on a DQ so can't really promote the he'll out of it (as some people wouldn't understand the context of him crossing the line 2nd but winning from just a photo or short video)
@@maxb4085 Exactly - if Wout had kept going it could have been a Jakobsen 2.0. Just because it hasn't happened yet...
The officials are sucking his little pony after each obvious dickhead move.
Because he shouldn’t have been.
Jasper the disaster tuned into the karen of the peloton. 🤣🤣
That was a textbook karen-moment, you’re right!
Kaaren Philipsen. TdF are arranging a new identity document for Stage 19…
😂
That would the Kevin of the peloton
Massive respect to Eenkhorn for the restraint at not just giving Jasper a proper slapping.
Surprised he didn't go full Pello Bilbao on him lol
after being closed leaft and right I would have slammed the brakes the moment he was on my wheel, but being professional means also avoiding those behaviours.
Problem is if UCI do not enforce someone will do it in a dangerous way sooner or later.
I can see Biniam or someone else holding him by the shirt or the pants when he's cut off once again and that can end very bad
@fabioghezzi1969 as much as Biniam gets positive coverage, nothing I've seen convinces me that he has the balls to stand up to this.
Julian Alaphilippe blocking across the last 30kms was incredible, Simply brilliant. He continuously stuffed the chase up and was in complete control of what he was doing he even mentally got in the head of all the riders chasing. Unheralded MVP of the day for mine.
I’m glad you mentioned that favorably because I find the modern generation of racers comfortable criticizing, old-school blocking, as if it’s poor sportsmanship.
Chapeau to Victor Campenaerts, he did massive job today. I'm happy that the breakaway survived. Even if there is only one winner, all 4 riders can be proud of themselves.
I'm so glad Phillipsen didn't get the podium. He and his team have been bullying other riders for the entire tour this year.
Campagnarts human motor, 1 hour World Record owner, pulled so hard for so long.
He works SO hard SO often with little reward - he IS a beast. And today he was brilliant.
Would have absolutely loved to see Eenkhorn win that sprint. Campanaerts absolutely monstrous ride for the work he did and then the lead out to deliver the break to the line in time..
Also a really gutsy move to add that 4th rider to the breakaway, which is what made it last in the end. They deserved to win, but as a Dane, I'm happy for Asgreen who's worked hard to come back from last spring's crash which ruined his season
Campanaerts quickly becoming my favorite rider, all aggression, dirty moustache, no glasses, terrible sock and shoe combo, MASSIVE CALVES
Honestly Asgreen owes Companaets/Eenkhoorn a gift basket 🧺😅
@@kconnnnnHe reminds me of Tony Martin. Just an absolute machine.
What makes Phillipsens situation even worse is how friendly the rest of the peloton is. UAE and TJV are fierce rivals and still look out for each other.
Never happier to see the break take a stage win.
Asgreen first to attack and break away thus a poetic beauty in him winning today´s stage 190 KM later. Pretty rare that happens. Mads Petersen taking a stage. Jonas Vingegaard in yellow and now Kasper Asgreen redeeming Soudals lousy TdF! No matter what team, it´s hard not to be impressed by Danes in the tour this year!
I’m Belgian and I feel absolutely ashamed of all the stupid stunts Philipsen has pulled in this Tour
Philipsen should have been disqualificated in at least 2 of his sprint wins, and now this just confirms that its in his blood ... SHAME
He did nothing wrong in the first two sprint wins. This one is another story. Really bad look for him.
@@stevenmeyer9674Stage 3 was a 50/50 just due to the barrier jutting out slightly so it's not good racing but it's really a DQ. Then stage 4, he only won because of what VDP did by moving Girmay over to make room which is the only reason he won because without it he isn't in rubbish position and isn't getting round everyone.
His move on Cavendish was a blatant deviation but I don't think the UCI had the balls to give Cav the record on a DQ even though he was the first who didn't cheat, partly for marketing reasons as it could look weird without context the winner being the guy who crossed second.
Naw. He shouldn’t have.
Jasper showed his true colors!! Just because he wanted to get his 5th stage win does not mean he can dictate what other teams do!! I have never cared for him especially winning like he has. He should have been relegated twice!! I just love it when the break away wins!! Especially when Jasper gets beat..my man Victor rode a awesome stage!! If not for Victor and Lotto they would have been cought!!
Rowe was disqualified for a very similar move only a few years ago. By both rules as written and their own recent implementation Philipsen should be removed from the race. Its disgraceful he has seen no punishment at all for this.
Exactly. Phillipsen should be on an airplane right now.
I thought he was DQ'd for a scuffle with Tony Martin?
Tony Martin was DQed for his dodgy move, Luke was DQed for his reaction
I suppose that Eenkhoorn was extra motivated in the break, not just to win but also to make Philipsen lose. 1 out of 2 missions accomplished, not bad.
Yes, he needs not to be sad he lost the sprint to Kasper - it was a sprint stage and he beat the fastest guy by 10 meters am I right? Hahaha
Jasper Philipsen is the coffee grounds of the peloton. This is ridicolous.
I am watching 50 years cycling. Have been a cyclist myself. And have never seen this behaviour. Unbelievable and this little Belgian guy should be punished for this action. Who the...he thinks he is?
@@JMC-ul1sw whit all the respect for Jasper results (and not for the man) Evenepoel is totally on another level of charisma and appeal to the fans, and that is my considerations about the race direction. If they are so lenient with "a Philipsen" I wonder what real top riders like Pogy, Vingo, VWA or VDP can get away with.
Unbelievable performance for the breakaway, from the very start, 180 km at 3 then 4 riders, with never more than a 2-minute gap.
Kasper and Pascal show how to sprint and stay on a straight line.
They'd probably crash more than half of the bunch sprints if they'd participate
I was laughing so hard when the breakaway won. Always rooting for the break.
Edit: especially with what Julian Alap was doing trying to block the peloton from catching them and taking fake relays.
i dont see why teams other than jayco and alpecin should work tomorrow or in Paris, nobody is beating phillipsen in a sprint. Would love to see a breakaway win on champs-élysées
i really despise jasper i hope pedersen can win over him some more
I’m putting it out there; Jasper flats out on the last lap in Paris, Magnus Cort makes it a true Danish Tour with a surprise win 🇩🇰
would love for a team or two to completely box him in during the setup to the sprint in Paris and make sure he can't compete for it. Would be karma
a breakaway win in Paris? hell yeah.
Na, teams have to back their sprinters.
Jasper doing what Jasper does best -deviating from his line and cutting across people
and not being sanctioned for it...
When he cut off Biniam earlier on in the tour during stage 7 it was pretty damning... now he does this and it's just flat out inexcusable.
Jasper Phillipsen has shown everyone who he is as a person. If he doesn't receive even a slap on the wrist then I have no words.
the only way anything will be done is if there is a crash :(
Roadblock FC getting mad. Every normal cycling fan dislikes this behaviour. Still no penalty?
Kudos to Asgreen and the love letter he expressed to the 3 other in that group and how its one of those stages where things are so balanced that its just feel wrong with one winner at the last few meters.
Kudos to Lanterne for mentioning the Phillipsen BS, and kudos to Campagnarts for that crucial pull.
Good job Eenkhoorn for continuing and not giving up even after being bullied. You are a great example of courage to all of us!
Well said
At least Philipsen got a bit of karma today.
Jasper is such a diva.
They block the road, Eenkhorn does a sus move considering the parked car but then you try to intimate him and chop him. Lost a bit of respect for Philipsen there. So glad to see the break away win.
Jasper hasn't made a lot of friends this month...
Jasper Disaster
I doubt he’s bothered why should he’s the fastest sprinter with 4 stages, your there to win not mess around
Finally a breakaway that didn`t mess up in the last hundred meters. Of course, without the leadout from Campenaerts they would most likely have been caught. There was a brief moment of hesitation as he got off the lead, but that moment came much later in the finish than it would have if there were no teammates in the break. Also Abrahamsen should have kicked off immideately when Campenaerts broke off, that would have been his best chance.
Not sure if this was on purpose but Campenaerts moving over to sprint right in front of the peloton was a savvy move.
Saw that too…looked on purpose (revenge)
Could just be to reduce the speed difference and thus the danger
It was fantastic. He looked back for Phillpsens line and faded right into him. Lolololol. Well deserved Jasper.
Well spotted and well done :-)
Well spotted
Can't believe you didn't mention Campenaerts doing a final little sprint to make philipsen and pedersen go around him and slow them by an extra half second!
He could have just moved over and blocked them but the speed differential would have been dangerous, so he sprinted a bit after already being shattered so he could slow them while not making it too dangerous
I thought he was just sprinting for fourth place, but yeah could be!
I loved how he turned around to make sure jasper was looking straight up his ass while the break won
@@thebr0wnhornet i thought it was more giving him the same eyeballs he gave to campenaerts's teammate, letting him know he's truly fucked it and what's more i'm now in your way to rub salt into your wound!

i totally missed that the first time around but you're spot on!

That was a poor judgement from the tour committee. Philipsen should have been at the very least penalized. These are pros and they should know better!
The Tour Committee can absolutely do nothing about it. As in all major races, a jury of UCI commissioners (international jury) decides on any sanctions.
Jasper Disaster strikes again! This is what happens when you let him push people around in the earlier stages without any punishment.
When we look back we will realize that three out of the four wins by Jasper Disaster were the result of this kind of riding either by himself or MVDP (which may have been inexperience, but still). Jasper: "Fastest Man" or "Deviation Central?" History will be the judge, but he sure tipped the scales a bit today toward the latter.
"Just like half his sprints on the tour" great point made
There's been a lot of great finishes this tour but this might be my favorite thus far. And Asgreen's comments at the end about how all three collectively won (sadly not shown here for) was the cherry on top. Dude's a winner in more than just the TDF stage.
Hulde to Victor Campenaerts. Great guy.
Agree , and mads , thaths the type of riders i love to see , and happy asgreen is back after a shit year,
shit like that makes me realize i never need to compete in sports. people care waaaaay to much about winning and they lose sight of what the competition was about to begin with. i hate that we even tell anyone who won. it just causes problems.

Absolute hero pull from Campenaerts at the end, sacrificing himself for the glory of the breakaway
Will be interesting to see if Netflix focus on Philipsen's dodgy sprinting/poor behaviour in the next season, given that he came across as a pretty nice and likeable guy in season one.
Shouldn't take the spotlight away from the breakaway though, that was an insane ride to hold off the peloton despite never getting more than 2 minutes (from what I saw)! Mantis Campenaerts MVP on the day for me, even though Eenkhorn got dusted in the sprint

Campanaerts did a man's job today. Pulling and then sprinting in front of the field in the last 250m, too. Shame they couldn't snag the win.
UCI or tdf should do something about that guy. The fact that he's able to get away with it is ridiculous and makes the sport look bad. But of course nothing will be done :) which is why they have that kind of behaviour in the first place; because they know they'll get away with it.

I do wonder if Ala was on the front trying to pull a patron move and keep the bunch from catching the breakaway as a response to Phillipsen's behaviour earlier in the race
he was there trying to disrupt the chase a bit yes.
Hilarious thing is the guy he blocked is the reason the breakaway won. Eenkhoorn doesn't make it up there later, Campenaerts doesn't pull at the end and they don't stay away
