I see it was the route coming jome. Cricklewood was one of 2 garages who started the route when it replaced trolleybus route 666. The other was Stonebridge Park a farage convertes for motorbuses from Trolleybus
The 266 is one of those routes that has been shifting itself every now and then, 322 is another good example and I definitely prefer that route with it’s current operator, using lovely modern electric buses
Don’t forget 135 too, it was first with Arriva out of DX (don’t even know but that wouldn’t be possible in having the 135 at DX in present day), then GAL out of SI then TT out of LI and a month later it becomes an SLN route out of LI too.
The 266 is a 7 year contract so it would be pretty funny to see it go to RATP. I'm glad the 190 has stayed Metroline since it adds some variety to Richmond
Nice to see the 266 back with Metroline, the EvoSetis suit the route and is the second route to have them as a temporary allocation as currently the 266 and 333 are both using EvoSetis as temporary allocations. At least the difference is that the 266 is getting variety with VWHs and VWs out on the route, I hope to see both E400Hs and MMCs on the route soon. Seems like only some VWHs were reblinded for the route and I assume the inserts on the other vehicles will be done to include the 266. Also, it’s the second time that the 266 has used buses from EW to kickstart Metroline’s operation as back in 2017, the route took 56/07/57 reg TEs off the 113 which got a full 61 reg TEH allocation and also took some from the 186 which gained a small 60 reg TEH allocation. It’s inevitable now that RP will be closing, I can see the 220/224 going to V and then the 224 lost back to Metroline after.
Agreed although it's a shame it's getting electrics. It's good that it's back at Cricklewood though since the VMHs have strayed onto the routes there. It would be nice to see an LK61 stray onto the route although they probably aren't blinded (although VWH2038 isn't blinded which did not stop them putting it on the route lol).
I think the 266 will get WDE Electroliners since Metroline have ordered them for the 4 and have ordered them in greater quantities than BYDs and the new E400EVs. It’ll be nice to see Wrights back on the route as I loved the VNs on the route and I was quite sad to see TT give up the 266 early at the 5 year clause as the VNs were a nice staple on the route and I also loved the common appearances of the BU16 VHs and the 58 reg WNs too as well as the recent 13/16/67 reg VHs. Realising now, the 266 has used G2 DB300s, G2 B9TLs and G2 B5LHs. It’s more than likely the 266 will get WDEs and I reckon Metroline will order them given W have a huge G3 fleet already for the 139/328 anyways and there can be common mechanical parts between the WDEs and VWHs too. I doubt W will re-blind the 61 reg TEHs given majority of them were withdrawn after the 32 got LTs and since then, the remaining surviving ones have been reallocated to the 210 to oust out the TEs last year. There is still 1 ex-266 13 reg TEH1462 that didn’t go to G and has remained at W so I think that’s the only TEH that may have old blinds with just 139 inserts added since then so may have the 266 and could stray which is nice as the 13 reg TEHs were the common staple on the 266 till the 2019 loss.
