    Of all of the videos on UA-cam concerning this problem, your video is the only one that put this issue in such a clear prospective. You are the man!

    Thanks for the video. I investigated this in my truck due to a similar leak. The bottom end of the drain tube was not properly inserted into the hole so that was the cause of my leak. Viewers can have a look at that as a possible culprit too.

    You two are totes adorb as the kids say nowadays. Thanks for showing this. I did the trimmer line trick, but because of you- I now know what to look for under the headliner to put the drain tube back. Thank you!

    Thank you very much for posting this. My 2008 had the exact same problem but was hard to find until I saw this video. I thought my drain line was clogged, but exactly like yours, mine was just not connected. You saved me a tremendous amount of time. Thank you again!

    I think this is going to fix my problem on my 07 silverado! I have already sealed the shark fin and the third brake light but still have a small leak, not as bad as yours was but I don't want it to be a bigger problem down the road. Thank you for actually getting us in there to see what is going on!

    I had a Chrysler product that did that, it was a constant problem as the repair was never permanent, the leak always came back. I solved the problem by getting rid of the car and buying one that didn't have a window in the roof.. I have found that windows in the roof will be a pain in the butt sooner or later, I will never have another one. Glad you got yours fixed, hope all remains well!!

    Thanks for sharing, I hope you were successful in repairing your truck. WTF! I just learned my truck may have clogged drain tubes or a leak in the rear cab brake light. I only recently discovered last week that my floorboard behind the driver's seat is damp: I thought I either left my door ajar or the seals in the door frame or rear window was leaking. I was conversing with the guys at O'Reilly's and one guy inquired if I had a sunroof - yeah I do have a sunroof! It is making sense to me because I started having a sagging headliner 2 to 3 years ago. I thought it was Florida humidity, but Geez Louise, I pray that the inside of my cab roof isn't rusting. Last night I checked my sunroof and I noticed the plastic parts are cracked - I hope I can fix my water leak problem.

    I sealed up my cab lights and still had a drips coming from my overhead console. Sunroof window seal looks ok but is soft and not firm. Probably needs to be replaced. I ran weed eater string down my drain tubes to see if they were clogged. Now I'll check to see if these tubes have come off. There's 2 tubes in the back as well and those have to be taken off and re-sealed with RTV or silicone.
    Almost wish I didn't have a sunroof. Lol

    They'll keep popping out. When I pop them back in, I throw a zip tie around the rubber connector to permanently hold them in place.

    Same thing happened in my Camry (yes I know, ones a Chevy and ones a Toyota). Same issue though. Drain hose comes off and creates a major water leak, or the drain hose gets plugged and creates a major water leak.

    Update: It’s been 5 years and we started having a water issue again, same side. The tube hadn’t come disconnected again what happened this time was a small twig was clogging the tube. It made the water back up and drip inside. We cleared the tube out and issue solved! So when you check if your tube is disconnected also make sure it’s not clogged!

    You should have poured water first before pressing it together to verify that’s where it was leaking. I had the same problem and tore apart the inside and the outside crowling, and resealed the access panel. Put silicone around the wire harness where it comes from the door. Finally after doing all that I figured out it was the passenger door weatherstrip that was allowing water to get in.

    Thank you for sharing your DIY project: I saved it to my playlist. Very nice job on the video and during heavy rain showers too. I am trying to resolve my water leaking into my 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup truck. I tested the sunroof drain tubes with only a cup of water yesterday. I initially tested the drain tubes while the truck was backed into the driveway; the water drained through the front drain tubes only; I did not notice water leaking from any other location. I started the engine, pulled out of the driveway and faced the truck forward; tested the drain tubes; the backseat passenger side did not disperse water; the backseat driver side dispersed water through the drain tubes, the front passenger side dispersed the water down the drain tube and also down the pillar through the dash; the front driver side dispersed water down the drain tube. Test Results 1 - the passenger side of the truck seems to be the problem.

    • @Chelsa525
      @Chelsa525  5 років тому +1

      Eric Tanksley I’ll be honest, I’m not entirely sure. I believe there is just one on the passenger side however I never pulled down the headliner on the driver side. There very well may be a drain tube there. Are you having issues with water on your driver side?

    • @mikelowry7730

      @@10bigrob10 yes its tubes on both sides. If you open your sunroof and stick your head up there you will see drain holes on both sides. Get a water bottle and pour some water in both sides to test if they drain properly and if not just follow his steps to fix it
