  • After riding Iwatake bike park, Yuka was kind enough to shuttle me for a few laps of Minekata in Hakuba, Nagano, Japan. This was my only solo unguided ride in Japan! Japan's fall colors were truly striking!

    My good old tomadashi "Toshi' live right next door to the Ginger at the base of Minekata. So you Did go over the back of the resort.There bears there. I run into a few over the years.

      I didn't even realised there was a ski hill on this mountain until started editing this video, so what you see in the video is what I saw of Minekata. We did go to the onsen on the north end though.

    Sharing context at the beginning is making each video even more interesting. More story like and I like it. Also I'd be interested in some content on your color-correcting and color-grading process. It always looks great.

    • @WattyLegend
      @WattyLegend 6 років тому

      Yes but also rocks, trees, tight single track. Our trails are fairly tight with growth and rugged. Lots of natural features like rocky drops, gullies etc. Here is a typical NC Mountain Trail. ua-cam.com/video/F0v-0X1Eu_c/v-deo.html (about 7min in)

    On my trips to Japan I always wondered about all the dirt roads and trails I saw and whether they were open to ride or not. In California most of the dirt roads and trails are open to ride. But maybe not in Japan. Maybe hard to find a lot of miles of rideable trails there.

    • @BCpov
      @BCpov  6 років тому +1

      Yeah, it's a good thing to wonder.. there are a lot of them. Thing is most of Japan is private land so if there are trails there, they're often "secret". Luckily we met a lot of people during the trip that by the end people were showing us where to ride!

    Is it the culture in Japan that recreation is to be paid for or is there a lack of volunteer groups trail-building (like in BC).
    Awesome video, only reinforces my desire to someday visit Japan!

    • @BCpov
      @BCpov  6 років тому +1

      Hey Raivkka, since Japan is such a small, old country, almost all the land is privately owned. Unlike in Canada were the land is often owned by a government entity.
      Building on privately owned land in Japan can be quite tricky... unless of course there is money involved.

    Amazing adventures in Japan bro! how do you like your Evil bike compare to your Slash, in terms of an all around mountain bike , climbing/descending. Keep it up bro! I cop one of your Tshirt BCPOV its pretty dope!

    • @BCpov
      @BCpov  6 років тому +1

      Thanks for picking up the shirt!
      The wreck and the slash are really similar actually, just the wreck it's more plush. The slash climbs better. Front wheel wanders a bit more on steep climbs.
