I went on this around 95. Loved it. The weightlessness you felt at the top of the loop and waiting to come back down the spike seemed to go on forever.

@ I am very spoilt, my first 3 roller coasters were Tower of Terror at Camelot, Nemesis and Thunder Looper.

Such nostalgia! I remember this ride so well, this was like the interim belt holder until nemesis came along, between the black hole, and the classic Corkscrew pre 94 era. How times have changed for the park. I visited for the first time in over a decade, for scarefest this year, despite it being slightly run down, it still has a lot of charm. It doesn't look good over at merlín, hopefully, aside from the new flat ride for next season, they have scope to give us something a little more thrilling.

Definitely agree with the charm element of the place, I hope Project Horizon still goes ahead - I look forward to seeing anything else that might appear!

Great video, it's so deserving of this tribute. It remains my favourite ride ever for Alton Towers. The thundering noise was deafening, the instant launch exhilarating (way before launched coasters became commonplace). I still remember so clearly being on the front row looking towards the sunny blue sky as we reached the end of the track, everything went quiet apart from the screams of everyone on the train, then we dropped backwards with an incredible feeling of weightlessness. It was very unusual then to have an looping coaster with just a lap bar, it out a lot of people off riding. The area was renamed Forbidden Valley in '94 when Nemesis opened and Thunder Looper was still there for a further three years. I actually want to travel to Brazil just to relive this awesome part of my teenage memories!

Great video with stuff I'd never seen before! That photo with Nemesis next to it is great. Any idea what the rollercoaster at the back is?
