I stand corrected on misspelling her name, it didn't feel right . I have a health issue whereby I had some damage done to some brain cells. I used to pride myself on being able to spell any word correctly. Anyhow thanks again for the video, it really helped inspire me to write more. I hope somehow awareness will be raised concerning her work and legacy.
African American here born in early 1950's. Politically active since 1970. Marxist since age 18. Respectfully, your time frame is slightly off. Slightly. The '50's were largely quiet and tranquil. Things slowly began to change only in 1956 and the Montgomery Bus Boycott. That began the bursting of the tranquil dam. By 1959 its impact was beginning to be felt nationwide with the new civil rights movt picking up steam. By about 1961 everything was starting to rapidly change. I remember. Marches. Rallies. Demonstrations. Everything else you said is very accurate. Feminism. Abortion Homophobia. Class in the Black community. Role of religion. Black pride. It's all in this excellent play It is an extremly accurate portrayal of Black life in early 1960's. The language. The slang. The way people moved. The morality. The contradictions. All 100% accurate! P.S I am not a supporter of the American Communist Party. Hate it. But Hansberry and Hughes were members at one time.🎉
Informative I am awestruck that only handful of people watched it.
