BMW e23 Restoration project

Classic car renovation project. Today is BMW e23 full repair: bodywork, sandblasting and repainting to the new condition. Or beater than new?

Why would you do so much work and paint it in this colour? Also the bicycle carrier is a disgrace for this car.
