    Just got myself the bps knife, still waiting for it to arrive and I'm super stoked for it. Thanks for your review, God bless you brother!

    After having my issued Ka-Bar stolen, a friend gifted me a BPS ADVENTURER. I've carried it for several years now and don't plan to replace it with anything other than a new ADVENTURER if I ever wear it out.

    Morakniv all day.
    Slightly biased, as they've been my go-to utility knife for years.

    I have the Garberg and BPS2. I also have a Terrasaur. I was able to get the BPS knives when they were at a very good price point and I bought a couple. I like the Mora and the Condor, but I love the the BPS knife with its rustic, unfinished look and awesome sheath! Thanks.

  • @James-ke5sx
    @James-ke5sx Рік тому +1

    I have both of them. The Mora is tough but the BPS just looks nicer with a good quality leather sheath and wood handles. My Mora came with a plastic sheath and a cheap belt clip without a fire Steel. And the BPS was half the price. I also got a smaller BPS knife. Both were extremely razor Sharp.

    I think the bps knife looks better but the mora is probably just sharper and has a better steel because of its higher price point, but also theres the factor that nobodys scared to beat on on 30$ knife vs a +100$ knife (for me looks like a great introduction to better kife care as its carbon steel with a leather sheath)

    • @SpeirOutdoors
      @SpeirOutdoors  Рік тому +2

      I’ve beat my mora over and over. Time will tell. The BPS actually threw more sparks from the Ferro rod than the mora. The reason I’ve always been a Mora fan is because of the price point. It has always been my go-to knife. The BPS is an extremely well made knife. I will continue testing it out.

    Garberg will have better edge retention in both plain carbon 1090 and stainless 14C28N vs plain carbon 1066 and 12C27 used by BPS.

    • @cocovasquez1

      Correct!! Garberg Is a waaay better knife and the handle of the Garberg is bombproof compared to bps cheap wood handles.

    I'd trust the materials of the Garberg more. Also, if the BPS knife feels better in your hand, then you'd probably do just as well with a Mora companion/heavy duty for even cheaper.

      The 1066/95g is a wayyyy tougher steel than moras 14c28n in the garberg. Is an older simpler carbon spring steel and man it acts like it even in a knife. I had a bps (same model in the video) that was shipped to me with a small warp from heat treatment. They sent me a new one for free, and I decided to try and bend the warped one strait. after 30 min, a vice and a long pipe for leverage, I never managed to get that thing to go anywhere but right back to the shape it took after quenching…. I’m sure if I bent it anymore, it would have snapped. 1066 is no joke and bps have used some serious skills on it

    I have two BPS knives in carbon steel and they are now kitchen knives because the steel is crap and they dull very quickly. I was processing a deer with a friend of mine with both of them and I had to keep sharpening them. I gave up and used my Mora Companion in stainless steel and another in carbon steel in order to finish the job. Don't buy them. They look really nice but they suck! I use their nice sheaths on some better knives I have.

    Think your review would have been even better if you had included the Mora Kansbol , stainless steel, in your evaluation. Have all three and they are all great , but I keep returning to the Kansbol. Just wish they made it in carbon steel. Happy Trails !
    PS in the UK you can import BPS knives without any added import taxes or customs duty, to assist the Ukrainians with their war effort.😊

      Do we not give enough to Ukraine, what about the ordinary Russian people who's businesses that have been destroyed by this 🐂💩. All hypocritical, putting sanctions on Russia for an illegal war, was it not Britain who was involved in an illegal war in Iraq along with the rest of the clown's, for some reason that's ok because we think we are all the world police. Sorry for getting all political on a knife subject, but when our country does F all to help the people of their own occupants I.E telling NHS etc haven't got money for pay increases but they find millions every week to give to this organised war, a war designed to increase the cost of living world wide to pay for their losses during the other war on humanity (COVID)

    BPS makes some good blades, especially at the price. The only issue I have is there is not much variety in their designs and are all pretty much the same. Very good blades though and always razor sharp out of the box. I think their carbon steel blades are better than their stainless ones.

    Have a couple of bps blades not handled yet ,just got a garberg relatively inexpensively seems ok for a general bushcrafting blade but i like the handle on the bushcraft forest best as it does also have a titch more guard important in some situations imo ,son has a few bps and likes them a lot ill eventually try one of thebushcraft two's as i also like a lanyard hoe on a general purpose knife.

  • @cocovasquez1

    BPS carbon steel is 1065 which is super soft steel compared to the Garbergs steel that is equivalent to 1095. Plus the handle on the Garberg will out live us all compared to the cheap wood handles of the BPS. If you like looks better than performance then get a BPS

    • @joelamaro4525

      We work the hell out of our BPSs and they are doing just fine. Best of all my knives except my Cold Steel Master Hunter San Mai.

    • @richardnichols1392
      @richardnichols1392 16 днів тому

      Ah but if your a bushcrafter then making handles shouldnt be much of an undertaking and you can mod them right to your taste even use a non wood such as micarta g10 or other material to have a very industructable handle so theres that the mora handles is fine too but i would kind of like it made of g10 eg. And i could again tailor it right to my likeing .

    The Garberg hands down is the better knife, I really can't understand why you need to ask the question, it feels like people are all loving this knife out of pity to me, I've used both and there's no comparison, the Garberg out performs it in every way.

    • @SpeirOutdoors
      @SpeirOutdoors  Рік тому +4

      I have no pity. Things are what they are. The bps is more comfortable to me. And not as bulky. I love my garberg as well. Always have and will always use it. But if it comes down to someone who can’t afford the garberg or can’t justify spending $100 on a knife (which there are plenty of people out there) the Bps is a great alternative and I will recommend it to anyone

    • @TheDavewatts

      I have 2 different BPS knives. Razor sharp blades. Very sharp spines. Excellent leather sheaths. Comfortable wooden handles. Very low priced for such quality. Half the price of a Garberg !

    • @shawnpepin7890
      @shawnpepin7890 9 місяців тому

      Spoken like someone who has never used a bps knife. Here in canada, the garberg is 3x the price. The hand finished edges on a bps put the crappy factory edges with micro bevels on the garberg to shame. I’ll take a nice carbon steel over moras sandvik stainless any day. I have 20+ moras and around 15 bps blades and bps are better by a wide margin, especially out of the box

    • @TheDavewatts
      @TheDavewatts 9 місяців тому +1

      @@shawnpepin7890 Mora do the garberg in carbon steel it's superb doesn't take to much effort to remove a micro bevel does it. Obviously it's down to the individual which is better but I stick by what I say, enjoy your BPS knives I hope your really happy together, I'll stick to my Garberg.👍🏻

    • @SpeirOutdoors
      @SpeirOutdoors  5 місяців тому +1

      The garber is not. It is actually a very good knife for a reasonable price. The fishing knife at Walmart is comparable to the companion for 1/10th the price

      @@SpeirOutdoors have not tried the garber. Had 3 Mora's. First was dull, and wouldn't sharp, the seconds edge rolled on soft pine, and the third snapped and exposed the hollow handle. Had the 2 dollar Walmart knife for almost 4 years now. My tops 2.5 and esee 6 are my primary always on my person. The Walmart fisher lives in my carry bag for food stuffs like oranges and plastic or cardboard.
