BYW, both fingers and pick sound great that way. The P setting only isn't bad either w tone rolled off half or all the way. My least fave is the J pup w pick with tone 100%. Too thin.

I saw that kind of bass (but it's blue) on the website of a local store and went there the next day right from the morning. It was the fastest shopping of my life. I went to the store at 9:30 am and left with bass at 9:48 am. I think it's best bass I have ever played and it felt right to me for the first note.

Just bought the same bass in the same color today. I usually play a Fender Flea Jazz bass and a Ric 4003. But I really like the p bass pickups in this bass. Rolling in the jazz pick up about 3/4 volume and rolling the tone down down about 1/4 turn and this bass really sweetens up. I use La Bella low tension flats.

Tyler, similar to another question on this video:
    1. Yamaha 734 vs Player Series Jazz or Precision.
    Quality and tone...
    2. Yamaha 734 and Player Series Jazz and Precision are about the same price here in Australia.
    3. Is the Yamaha lighter in general, or heavier, or about the same as a Fender.
    Thank, Will from Australia.

Is it worth it to buy these pick ups and insert them into a Peavey Millennium BXP bass. I'm a guitarist but noticed right away that these Peavey pickups are 100% microphonic. I heard my metronome on my recording clear as day. The tone seem lacking though the Millennium is selling for $300 used these days. Save for Dimarzio pick ups instead ? Cannot afford a $500 bass. Just trying to improve tone. Unclear, sorta muddy sounding , cheap and very microphonic.

Hey Tyler, if you can help. I'm returning my Jazz back to stock. I don't know if the body is 60's, 70's or 80's? I know, I was young , in the 80's, and customized a bass out of a then older Jazz body. The body was stripped in the 80's. I loved my 60's Mustang which I foolishly sold (as a frame of tone reference though I know Stangs and jazz's are entirely different beasts). I'm looking at either the Original Jazz Bass pickup sets OR the Yosemite Jazz bass sets. Are you familiar with the differences between these two sets? Thanks!

Hey Tyler! Question for you, do you think this bass would be able to do the tone of 80s PJ models (example like this tone: ua-cam.com/video/pHpDUvUoxXs/v-deo.html)
I’ve noticed every 80s alternative band I love usually playing a PJ and sounds like a combo of both with tone rolled off and played near the bridge. I’ve been eying this model due to it basically having elements of the Hwy One models and being fairly affordable without any active hardware. Figured I’d ask if still “worth it” and could nail that tone or if probably better off with my old MIA Jazz and eq-ing to get a similar tone.

Is it worth going for the Squier and modding it. By the time you change pickups, bridge, Pots etc.. cost will be close to the American Performer. The issue I have with fenders are the pots. They are not audio taper , What is the difference between these pickups and standard PJ pickups and the "grease bucket circuit"? I have a new Japanese Fender late 60's Jazz bass and all the tone and volume is in the last 5-10% of the turn, So useless really. Does the American Performer PJ and the Squier PJ have Audio taper pots so you can use all the turn to blend sound better ? Not easy to try them out at present or find a shop that has them all in stock. Appreciate some advice . thanks .
