FYI: The Kuna app just had a app update on 3.18.19 to version 2.5.1 which now allows you to record three 8 sec custom greetings when u have one of the Premium plans..u can play these’s greetings on liveview or when motion is detected....👍👍..this works on Toucan and the security lights and Maximus floodlight..
It would be worthwhile at 1080p possibly. Night vision looked really grainy even with the light. Not sure if that was due to the 720p or something else. Animated GIF is very nice. Would be nice to see that on Ring's alerts. On the electrical box, most are exposed, but they give you a foam gasket to help. I could and probably should caulk around them as it would help some, but mine haven't looked near as rusty as yours. Fun part of that nice salty ocean breeze I'm guessing.
I wish Ring will have that option so that you don't have to open the app. Nest has this GIF preview as well which a lot blamed that caused their motion notification delays and I know now that is not the case. Kuna proves that you can have an animated preview with little to no delay in notification. I actually like this setup (resolution aside) because I will have a heads up and I can look who is going to my front door and pressing the doorbell without opening any apps.
Here it is... :) I like the GIF preview on the notification and it is not delayed like the Nest...so you can see who triggered the camera earlier than waiting for the app to load.
We are renting the home we are in and I replaced 2 light sources one with a flood light and the other with the ring flood light. They are both on the same light switch so worked out perfectly. But they werent caulked and both had bug. idk if water get in but where we live we dont get too much rain. I have question. So I caulked my new flood light so no bugs and rain gets in. But i never caulk the ring floodlight one. Do you think I should or have you caulked yours?? Just wanted your opinion. Thanks for all your hard work.
I didn't caulk my Ring floodlight. It has a foam gasket and is sufficient enough to seal the base of the light to my junction box. Most floodlights too have the foam gasket but this porch light and the old one that I replaced doesn't have it.
@@LifeHackster Same here the Ring floodlight has a good gasket so i figure was fine. But the floodlight I have just came with a flimsy gasket so thats why I put caulking around. Same with our lights that I took off too. No gasket inside. Thanks again for your help. Love your videos.
How does the adhesive work in extreme weather conditions? I wouldn’t think to use that on brick or stucco or anything outdoors. The adhesive would normally be used on interior walls on anything that was relatively non porous and flat even surface. Would need to see how this holds up long term without using screws and how to install with screws.
I bought the camera. I like it. Like you said the view is limited but pretty clear. Very good security camera and concept that can use a little upgrade. How do you set it just for the light to come on during motion? Couldn't figure that one out. I have a floodlight on the side of my house so I don't burn both all night. I alternate using them.
Thanks. Aside from the resolution, I actually like this camera because of the little to no delay notification and the GIF preview and it compliments my doorbell camera. I have an earlier heads up and I can see in the GIF preview who is at the door by the time I get a notification that the doorbell was pressed. I don't have to open the app.
My outside lights are connected to a light sensor and only turn on when it detects dark (at night). Once sun come up they automatically turn off, although my switch is only on... Will that mean this camera won't turn on during the day with my current set up?
Thank you for reviewing the Kuna. I bought one and your instructions were really helpful for the install. But can't get it to pair with the Smart Socket no matter how close I get, so the light stays on all the time. Tried all the help instructions on their site. Rebooted twice, re-installed twice. Any suggestions?
@@LifeHacksterI ended up contacting them and just a FYI there is a reset button for the socket...not listed on the instructions on on their site...after resetting the socket all is well.
Firstly im a huge fan and a subscriber to your channel. I have a question; all these devices being connected to the internet at your home example (smart things, ring, nest cam/door lock, google home, Arlo camera, Ring products etc). What do you use to protect you devices from being hacked. VPN, a firewall, virus protection?
Thank you for your in-depth reviews but was wondering how the picture quality is at night with light on, dusk-dawn, when your not standing in front of camera a few feet away? Like when your walking up to it like your usual reviews? Thank you and keep up the Great Work!
im new to this channel i saw almost all your videos in 1 day ! i saw many diffrent types of cameras but im confused which one to buy ! i am looking for a good camera quality which i can talk back to the person and i also dont wanna pay for monthly suscriptions and all that stuff. what would you suggest ?
True, but resolution aside on this setup, I like the GIF preview which Arlo actually has if you sign up on their "smart plans" But it has a 10-15 seconds delay when you have it On.
:) This is a 720p but I really liking the GIF Preview because it doesn't have a delay like the Nest. You can view what it going on in a few seconds than waiting for the app to load up.
Mr. RDCS - yes it will be up and I am actually liking it... it notifies me earlier before my Nest Hello Doorbell so I am able to load up the nest and able to see and talk to our visitors at the door with not a lot of wait on their end. I told toucan that they need to update the resolution of this camera. I recommend it as a supplemental camera for your front door.
I actually like it..not for the resolution but mostly for almost instant notification and also for the GIF preview. It goes hand in hand with my video doorbell and gives me a heads up and I am able to check who is at my door earlier and without opening any apps.
Thanks for sharing this review, I have been looking for this type of camera. I’m addicted to your channel, lol
Thank you. I appreciate it.
Would you not be more tempted to use the smart socket with a better cam? You could potentially use a ptz in the dome of or reolink etc on the wall
You probably can but make sure the camera is weatherproof.
I notice that the led light bulb that you installed isn't as bright as a led day time light bulb, can one be installed for more brightness...TIA
Great job LifeHackster. I like that animated GIF preview feature. Definitely needs a min of 1080p.
Yes, I like it too. It is not delayed like the Nest and you can have a preview faster and not to wait for the app to load.
M
I like the GIF, hopefully Ring brings this out soon.
Yes, Ring needs this feature because it takes some time for the app to load up.

Cool. I have to check it out.
Thanks. I just purchased this because of your GREAT review!
Thank You.
I really like the concept, super easy install, just wish it used more updated technology
Thank You.

I’ve been waiting for u to review the kuna.

Thank you so much for sharing this review. You are clear and precise. Helped me to decide on a surveillance system.

It should work ok. I have used the heavy duty/outdoor use 3M mounting tape on my solar powered lights and it is still holding up.
Excellent review of the Toucan WiFi Security Camera LifeHackster.
Thank You.
Who would still buy 720p security cameras? 4k and facial recognition is on the must have list nowadays!
True. I know the company knows this....

In the light settings, check in motion On night or always...
/good reviews as always.how ever I'll wait till they up date to 1080.👍...
Thank you for your review I just purchased some of these cameras on HSN and your review helped me make the decision
Keep doing what U!!!.because u do it Beyond...well
Another good review. As for the camera, I would skip pass this one and look at Ring, Reolink or a few others before even considering this...

Check to see how far is your light camera unit to your router. You might need an extender. Contact them if the issue continues.

Nice Review! Thanks!
You are welcome.
Is the camera swivel? Can be pointed to face to the left or right?
Yes, you can adjust it..up or down too.
Just wondering when the light bulb eventually burns out, can you order another bulb from the company and does it state how much they are?
Just buy another bulb from the store
Great review! I'd like to see the installation with the screw hardware...
Thanks..I didn’t screw it in because of the brick but the double sided tape is still holding up.
Firstly im a huge fan and a subscriber to your channel.

I don't have any other protection aside from the companies' account credentials that I signed up for. I do change passwords though routinely.
@@LifeHackster Thanks for reply. Awesome videos.
Is there any other brand that have the same concept of this camera or is do they have a 1080p version of this yet?
Can this be installed if my lighting fixture is recessed ? Potlight ?
As long as you can replace the socket with the smart socket and you might not able to hide the wires going to the camera...but it should work.
LifeHackster ok thank you ...I’ll check the light socket

Lol... binge watching:) I would suggest the Wyze cam or the Yi.. I have several videos of these cameras.
Hello how are you doing stop by to see when will do a follow-up on the Arlo 4k I see have been doing a lot of firware updates thanks
Not sure yet. I might do it down the road..making sure that they fixed their issues first.
can you do a review of the eufyCam and eufyCam E???
I've contacted them and they will send me a unit to review.
Kuna updates there software on Halloween, New Years, Christmas for different greetings.
Cool.
Can i add a zoom.5 speed 5m H265 ptz security dome camera 2 this 4. The backyard
Hay mate i love your videos can you please sudgest any floodlight cams which have base station
I haven't reviewed or tested any yet that has a base station.
What about cloud?
I found that the products from Toucan and Maximus are usually subpar one way or the other.
The subtitles is lock on Portuguese - can't change it to English. A few other clips also have the CC locked .
I think the Arlo Pro 2 is better. The no subscription cloud service, local storage and 1080p are huge.
True, but resolution aside on this setup, I like the GIF preview which Arlo actually has if you sign up on their "smart plans" But it has a 10-15 seconds delay when you have it On.
mine all have gaskets but I installed them myself.
I asked you about these last year....
:) This is a 720p but I really liking the GIF Preview because it doesn't have a delay like the Nest. You can view what it going on in a few seconds than waiting for the app to load up.

Yes. I have.
@@LifeHackster are you going to permanently leave it up and would you recommend it?

It's super cheap on Amazon right now. $60
