He's going to get a big boxing fight, collect probably 20 million, then he's getting paid being on the board of PFL, having equality in PFL. Also he is allowed sponsors on his trunks unlike UFC. That's 7 figures in profits from sponsorships. He's already a millionaire yet you think you know financial decisions better than this guy? You probably struggle to buy a hotdog while this guy is swimming in millions.

They don't buy PPV's at all, but according to them, PFL made a great move by emptying their bank account to welcome Francis. I think it's an ego move on PFL's side: they want to show Dana "look, WE signed him, YOU suck" or something like that. But in reality, in order of importance you have UFC in 1st place, then One FC, then Bellator, then PFL. Francis will fight no-names over there and he knows it. And then on Facebook, Francis' gang will shout at you "If Jon Jones wants to fight Francis, he can just join PFL right now and he is assured a payday of 2 million!!", completely ignoring the fact that Jones just signed an 8 fights contract AND he's already earning way more than 2 million. Honestly Chatri should probably get others to negotiate for him. Which would double as a way for him to save face and not embarrass himself. Cuz It sounds like to me that even if Chatri isn't as two faced as Francis says he seems, he's just not a great negotiator (even if this wasn't a true negotiation on Francis' side), Chatri was way too aggressive and persistent. It clearly works when it comes to younger, or less experienced individuals who he can promise the world and overwhelm with his energy/stats, but when he meets with a more mature and experienced man, well... Makes me wonder what other possibilities Chatri has or will blunder in the future.
Nagannou is doing double speak here as well, saying Chatri never made an offer when earlier he said Chatri did put up numbers through Ngannou's guys.
That offer was $20 million for 2 fights, which is really a good offer. The way Ngannou is explaining this meeting makes it sound like he wanted to hear what else Chatri had to offer, which was why Chatri went on and on about all the other benefits he could offer. The actual number offer was already made, and Chatri's other benefits weren't enough for him.
I can only conclude Ngannou wanted something else, and when you look at what he got with PFL, you can see why Chatri believed Ngannou wanted equity and board seats.
That's why only young and inexperienced newcomers like Mighty Mouse are happy working with him. Johnson is like 23 with 3 wins, right? /s 🥴
Everyone is forgetting that the only HWs in the world worthy of fighting Francis are in the UFC and a few in One
@@ounkeo It's funny because Francis literally confirmed the board of directors story, which Ariel and many Francis' fans claimed to be a lie from ONE (It's too absurd). And no matter what Francis thinks about the nielsen ratings, they are used by everyone in the entertainment business worldwide. If Francis or other people don't like it, suggest or provide an alternative.
We'll see how sustainable Francis' deal is.

Imo, it's a struggle with so many fight companies while the UFC is ahead by far. One, Bellator, PFL, BKF all fighting to gain steam to take on the UFC. One has the best chance but he joined PFL. How much can he take this?
Major gamble, hopefully it pays off. Most likely, 3 more fights at major pay then he retires and we all forget about PFL.

Keep in mind that Ngannou got a 5 round decision against a guy that Jon Jones walked through like it was nothing....and that was over a year ago, so he's getting some ring rust and older....fighters start getting old around 35, especially at the heavier weight classes, and he's 36 now...and won't fight until next year, at best....

Something def stinks here. Why even meet with Chatri then? The guy announced he was meeting with Francis for negotiations very far in advance from when they met. Strange Francis acts like it was just a dinner date and he expected no business talk lol. Chatri was extremely polite when *asked how negotiations went. He said it wasn't monetary, but they could not put him on the board, it would not work for their company. He wished him well and said he knows Francis will do great things... as it turned out Francis *was asking for a board position, as we can see with his PFL Africa gig. @@daviddavis7959 Because Chatri was fully public that his meeting with Francis was all about business negotiations, wasn't he? I believe he even told Ariel so. So when Francis claimed he thought it's just a non-business dinner and he only came out of respect, things just don't add up. The details of Francis' non-financial demands according to ONE also matched his PFL deal.
It's also possible that this whole ordeal was due to miscommunication, misunderstanding and language barrier. In the end, it's bad for every party.

Thirdly, the deal with One was not the same with PFL. Was One willing to have a fighter sit on the board. Was one willing to commit resources to recruit African MMA fighters . Infact PFL just offered Francis that offer of spending resources for African fighters, Francis never even demanded that. PFL just threw that in as part of the deal. WHY? Because PFL knew this African front is what Francis would like and the future of great fighters and MMA in general will largely depend on a pool of badass African fighters who have proven to be the best fighters in all MMA. Remember there are thousands of Kamarus, Adesnyas and Francis's in Africa but they do not have the resources and PFL is willing to commit resources in that front with the future in mind.

Listen, I am happy for Francis and believe all these fighters deserve more, because the money being made off of them is immense. But there's something off about Francis, the middlemen, or something. Every single person who has had/done business with him, there are these convoluted stories, contradictions. Just nothing adds up or makes sense, and that's even with reading between the lines. I don't know exactly what it is, but I don't think he's being truthful about a lot of things, there's all the indicators of deception. Maybe it's partly a language barrier, misunderstandings, or the go between jockeying trying to play both sides.
I hope I am wrong or misunderstanding. But I will be surprised if we ever see anything much/more in terms of fighters rights. I do not know that I genuinely believe it was important to him because I have yet to see him do anything except talk about it. I guess I am always of the mindset that I cannot look at words, I try to look at what people actually do or have done. So I respect the conviction in his words, but I have yet to see them align with action.
The gotcha of an MMA contract is what the contract will inherently require. It may be difficult to fulfill his MMA contractual rights while pursuing another sport, even if you're contractually free to do so, you still have your obligations. I also don't think the PFL will have the backing to really utilize him in a way that is most beneficial to himself and the PFL. I know they're on their way there, but they're not quite big enough yet. Also, advisory board members usually do not get paid. You also still have the possibility of the UFC challenging the sunset/fulfillment of his former contract with the UFC.
