My dad and his brothers used to sing and play this song when I was a little boy. I'm now 77. What memories. Makes me cry.

You were closer to this songs original time then most of us were. That is something I find extremely amazing, and it's what makes the elderly such a treasure. God bless you, sir. I only hope current events and modern day music and art will be worthy enough for me to recollect when I'm your age.
      God bless you, my friend.

@@tristanmorris9432 well said, and I share your same thoughts on this song, music, and ageless spirited era. God Bless you @Charles Mitchell. Memories that which let us know we live a life worthwhile, and who knows what new memories we can be lucky enough to bestow upon those close to us, both the young and old. I hope this song soothes your heart... and rest assured you're not alone in these intense captivating emotions of sentimentality and true appreciation. Thank you for sharing, and may God truly bless you. May he bless you both, richly, in this life and the next to come.

Better than pretty much any modern songs. Music quality is at an all time low now and it was pretty much at its highest back then. Nothing as great as an old 1920s jazz band

Yeahh same! The time feels *slightly more innocent. This music was made with the intentions for people to dance to it. It's got that 'jig' and it was almost like made by "grown kids-" happy and hopeful. People who saw the world not as fast paced as it is now, but knew there was something gleaming in the air, as industrialization was not something anyone had ever seen (not as fast paced as it was in this historical era). The possibilities were endless, and people just wanted to dance. A time of expression, indifferent to people's opinions. I love this song, and I know exactly what you mean by that "happy feeling" it gives, which makes me just want to dance, and think of the endless possibilities in my day and for my life. X)

Wonderful post-thank you! So much humour in it and it makes you want to dance. A part of music so easily lost. Go out now and find a house built in the 1920's and imagine the builders there going up & down their ladders in time as they sing "... could she love, could she woo, could she, could she, could she coo" Look closer! Is the cement well mixed? "Is he thick, is he slow, let's give that another go, has anybody seem my trowel?"

I have no idea how this piano score ended in my grand parent's inventory in Africa. I found it and played when I was 10 years old. There were many old tunes to play to fight boredom at home (Like "Why do Robin Sing in Decmber" and "Over the Rainbow").
    That was 45 years ago.

To people wondering the relationship of this song with Lady Gaga’s documentary:
Lady Gaga is 5”2”. This is very short for an adult woman. Yet most people think of Lady Gaga as this larger-than-life extreme, alien-diva personality.
The point of the film was to show that she’s indeed extreme, but she’s a grounded traditionalist at her core.
And it’s really just that she wants to appreciate the small day-to-day connections with other human beings. It’s not specifically based on this song, it’s just a clever reference.

oh I would have loved to have been there. I have a slew of these old 1920s78s and people love them once they are aware of them.

I too am a GaGa fan but I'll be honest, I first heard this tune when watching an episode of I Love Lucy. I think its the episode when Ricky gets a sore throat. Thanks for the upload, I'll be wagging my finger til the cows come home lol!

My Grandfather used to sing this to Me. It made Me feel special, since I'm 5'2" and My Brothers are 6'2" and 6'4" We all have blue eyes though!
