The Goat is a great tool also! We use Pitch Hoppers all the time but primarily for repair work. These things are great when repairing multiple shingles across the roof. Nothing gets torn up and you can move quickly while being on a nice flat platform to work!
I would figure out a way of connecting a pull cord on them so it would be much easier going up and down the roof..
It slipped a little as he was coming down. Use caution.

The goat is a much better first man up way to get to roofs. I would never use a pitch hopper as a first man up.
