For some reason, her album isn't getting enough exposure. She is so good. 💞

You should hear Boomerang Live....it is so much better (Its on YT). Also, anything she does live is so elevated, it will knock you out!

yo dope to see someone love this whole album! it’s incredible. i stuck through the whole thing, loved your commentary.
this became an absurdly longass comment but whatever it’s 3 am and i don’t care lol:
i don’t know what you might have seen in reviews and stuff, but there’s a really rough backstory to it. 5 years ago, right when yebba was starting to get in the industry, her mom committed suicide. dawn is her mom’s name, and most of what’s on the album is about her grief, her mom, and her struggles with god. a lot of the “you”s in the lyrics are directed right at mom
‘when you went away, my universe divided’
It’s beautiful out of the gate, but it deepens the album *so much* to go back into it and listen again with that perspective.
she says some cool stuff about it in interviews. like, in ‘all i ever wanted’ she’s not talking to a romantic partner - she’s talking to god about wanting his love back in her life after struggling a lot with faith (for good reason).
so when she’s trying to get close to god, ‘only to watch you hold her’ ‘you’ and ‘her’ are just completely different characters than i thought and it became so much deeper.
really really recommend listening to this album again and feeling how that changes the songs.
if you want yebba’s back catalogue, you gotta start at the start. “my mind” is an incredible song she performed in 2016 that really kicked off her career. it’s also the last performance or recording she did before she lost her mom. it’s really raw, but for a completely different reason.
if you’re a crier, maybe bring tissues lol
ok longest comment in youtube history over, peace & keep it up 👍

'How Much Can A Heart Take' with Lucky Day (LIVE, cuz it shows off Yebba's 'swag'.)
