  • Can you have Sustainability in Roofing?
    First, what is sustainability?
According to the dictionary it is: “The ability to maintain at a certain rate or level”.
It is not however throwing everything away and building back with something else, but often see that concept promoted as “sustainable”.
The question is, are there better options? There may be, and it’s a question of philosophy.
    A few points:
    · Historically, old coal tar roofs were legendary for lasting 60+ years, but they did that because they received regular Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Restoration (R).
    · Most roofs today come with 20-year warranties, but statistically don’t last that long. WHY? Typically, because they haven’t been maintained.
    · So is that the better solution? To take care of what you have? How about to make your existing asset a “Sustainable Solution”, and both help the environment and save money to boot.
If this concept resonates with you and you’d like to explore it more, let me know.
