Exactly , mindset of many Malaysians are pretty backwards. The education system is engineered to produce obedient youths instead of producing thinkers. We will never develop because we can’t innovate , whether be it in the STEM field or philosophically which will reflect the well-being of our society.

I faced the same problem back in education days, people around me just discouraging and timid. Until I made my own way leaving Malaysia behind and work in overseas alone, I found my ways to learn new languages, arts, psychology, business and building strong mindsets when collaborating with different regions of ppl.
When I’m meeting my old friends in Malaysia after years, I truly felt how far I’ve come from ever since we parted our ways.

I remember during my school years, I lost interest in classes cause no matter how hard I study, or how curious, what question I ask, the teachers don't care. They will be like ,'don't ask too many question, just memorize, just follow, why need to know so much?'. I couldn't do it cause memorizing without understanding made it hard to solve questions out of the box.
In college, there were some lecturers like that. I will always remember this lecturer. Mr Chen. He love his job. He love math. His teaching was awesome. He will take the time to explain and teach you the basics. I felt that is what teachers are suppose to be like.

It’s never easy trying to bring changes so here is my 2cent.
Why did your boss brush off your ideas, think from their perspectives
Maybe there were similar failed attempt, lack of understanding, high risk involved, cost to benefit is too low and many other reasons.
It is then up to you to figure out a way to visualise, proving the concept or come up with a middle ground to said concept by minimising the risk to your boss. Technical know-how and creativity are important but communicating it effectively is equally if not more important.
I’ve yet to see any business owner that doesn’t like earning more money with less effort/risk
If all is said and done but the results are still the same without acknowledgment from your boss, just find another company that would appreciate your effort.

With our debt rapidly increasing and corruption index rate, as a malay muslim i have to also include another reason is that, Malaysia is one of those countries that will never able to seperate religions, race and politics apart from each other.
Their politicians manipulate their people into thinking everyone else is out to get them. Nowadays they are more focused on irrelevant stuff like what are muslim enough and what is not. When we have much more bigger problems such as economical, financials and food resources more. By that, we're ought to become the next sri lanka 🤦‍♂️

True. We as citizens are always _bagai lembu dicucuk hidung._ Even the culture when learning here tells a lot: Students are too passive, too afraid to ask questions because they don't want to be ridiculed. This is exactly the opposite attitude of the students from advanced countries. As a result, we are stuck in perpetual low-to-middle-income _makan gaji_ mentality.

The most certain way to 'get rich' is to simply improve yourself and your ability to add value to the society/market. The more valuable you can be (either doing more work than others, or doing something that others cannot do), the easier it is for money to follow.

Similar to what they did to MySpace/Friendster. Who knows, the Winklevoss also got rich from Facebook, just not as rich as Zuck.

at the age of 18 i worked around 300-450hrs a month doing an office work. I kept thinking about what i'll do once i get home. So i started to think about my work efficiency. How to do things faster?more efficient? more accurate? less accidents/mistakes? i learned how excel macros work and managed to automate the task of creating my monthly report. i shaved down the hours from 50hrs (comes from inputting data for 2hrs per day) to just 6-3 hrs.

Excelling at exams is mostly due to fact of having great memorizing capability, nothing more. Exams do not instill actual knowledge that one can personally conceive and apply it in the real world. Also having EQ (Emotional intelligence) is actually as vital as having good IQ, something that just books and exams will never be able to teach you.

I always feel the odd one and it makes me depressed even more I still don't understand why am like this... Until one day someone told me I have dyslexia a learning difficulty that mainly causes problems with reading, writing and spelling.
I will say I feel a kinda relief somehow and the more I learn about my dyslexia so that's when I started to look for more answers and I will question everything around me.
Tbh the education system in Malaysia failed us but we can do it better than that.
Now I will say my writing still needed more improvements but am happy get to write at least...
As long just do what you want to do ppl may think is a dumb idea but how do you know when you never try? Just keep climbing you are halfway there.

The REAL reason why the middle income group (worldwide) finds it increasingly difficult to survive is predominantly due to the SYSTEM itself. A system of unfettered money creation by central banksters (at the behest of politicians, elitists and big corporations including banks and hedge funds). This is also supported by clueless or dishonest academic economists and financial pundits sitting in their ivory towers earning fat salaries while propounding quack financial and economic theories that destroy wealth. The impact of all this is a never ending depreciation of buying power of money (for the upper middle, middle and lower income) bearing in mind most of the newly created money goes into the hands of the banksters, big investment groups, billionaires and multi-millionaires, selected industries and corrupt politicians. There is also a major side effect of this corrupt financial system - the rampant degradation and poisoning of the environment - since ever more economic activity (growth growth growth growth!!!!!) is supposedly needed to counter the ever skyrocketing living costs (due to depreciation of money).

Let's take this topic to a broader perspective. Malaysia is not the only country that's stuck in the middle-income trap; Thailand, Argentina, Romania are some examples, and their citizens are also struggling to get out of the middle-income trap just like us. To reach OECD countries' level of GDP per capita in the next few years, our companies-SMEs, and large enterprises-have to change drastically in terms of corporate strategy, human capital, capital investment, etc, in order to get higher in the tier in the value chain in every sector possible. And to have that systemic change, yes, I believe everyone in Malaysia should have the habit of critical thinking.

Lots of Malaysian Chinese running to western countries. I don't blame them but as someone living in the West, you can forget about owning a house unless you're willing to settle for less. A decent small town house is more than $1.4 mil (rm 4.2 million) in Canada. Apartments aren't cheap either. It would be more financially prudent to own a big house in Malaysia and live off savings.
