How to Play Wii Games on the Wii U WITHOUT a TV Sensor Bar

Hi, this video shows you how to play Wii games on a Wii U without a sensor Bar. So it shows how to enter the Wii Mode on a Wii U straight from start up so you can use the Sensor Strip on the Wii U Gamepad rather than the Sensor Bar on top of the TV. This is useful if you have damaged your Sensor Bar and still wish to play Wii games.

You can also use two candles instead of the sensor bar because it does the same thing that the sensor bar does. The sensor bar is just two inferred lights that lets the Wii remote triangulate it’s position, thus allowing it to determine where the pointer should be on screen.

If you press X when on the WiiU menu you can swap the display between the TV and the Gamepad, All the tiles will then be on the gamepad and you can then open the wii menu and select the option for TV and Gamepad using the thumbsticks or the touchscreen totally bypassing the need for the classic controller.

The Wii had a few cool games on it but trying to play them with those shoehorned-in motion controls is such a pain. I love Mushroom Men for the Wii, which is one of the very few games that actually made good use of the motion controls, but setting up that bar and having wires going this way and that is a pain. This is all a drawn out way of saying “Thank you for showing me this” lol.

I have tiramisu custom firmware and it allows me to boot directly to the Wii menu without having to boot the Wii U firmware at all. Does this work as well?
