This is so raw and I can’t imagine this experience-particularly being totally alone so high in the mountains. I’m so glad you were ok. You have super human strength!
Ugh you are so brave and GRAZY!! Never go alone on hikes like that. I get it why you did it but oh my, I was scared right along you. Wanted to fast forward to see sooner that you got safe, how did you get safe...struggled to watch through your adventure but loved it, loved it!!! Thank you for sharing :)
I'm so glad you were OK, Kylie! The agency sounds like a nightmare, but I'm inspired by your tenacity and seemingly natural disposition to bounce back. Wow, it's really got me thinking!
Lovely and inspiring mix of beautiful photography, challenging exploration with truly fearful moments mingled with human kindness. You remind me of my daughter and you scare the hell out of me!!! Take care x x
Wow!!!!...there are so few people on this planet that expose themselves and show true humility, weaknesses, strengths, emotions....true emotions. ASMR!!
Spectacular in every way. Masterful storytelling, editing, filming. Inspiring. Maybe one of the best videos I have ever seen on UA-cam. Thank you for sharing your vulnerability; it demonstrates your strength. This was a gift.
Those red markers ( not so clear) I was scared for you. What a lovely family you were able to meet, and it is so beautiful there. I loved that the family did not have tv and loved it. I’m so glad you were safe and okay- you are really brave. I would love to hear what your mother said. - ha Also you asked on Facebook what is good for the mind after a break up and I say keep it busy, make a plan of things you love and do them ... remind yourself , if you waste your time on the wrong person , you may never meet the right one.... I love this trip you went on , thanks again for sharing!
Wow, beautiful video! It was far worth the wait. Life has so many ways of testing us but there will always be beauty in the struggle...even if we can't see the greater good in that moment. This was super relatable and inspiring as always
I just found your channel and what and how you described yourself in that wilderness brought tears to my eyes and this and only these words came to my mind that: you were loved in those moments of loneliness. You were loved...
Inspirational, beautiful, moving, you're a clever and brave woman. You are meant to do this kind of work and I'm so grateful that you do:) Well done for confronting yourself and giving hope to others. Thank you!
The general rule of hiking on mountains should be "never go alone" but you're such a smart crazy girl! Every time it was time to go back from a mountain hiking i always be overwhelmed by melancholy, because i didn't want to go back home. Amazing video, as usual.
Beautiful. There can be moments or days of struggle when you set off on your own in the wild, or in foreign country. I think all to often people tell women that we're too vulnerable to travel and do adventurous thing on our own. Yes, sometimes there are tears and moments that push us beyond what we think we can handle, but this build character and confidence. At least, this has been my own experience as a solo female traveller. I love seeing other women going out beyond their comfort zones. It is the beauty that is found on the other side of that, that I think makes life worth living. Thanks for another inspiring video Kylie xx
I think it is so so so good you kept going in the dark and looked for cellphone reception!! I would have been at least as scared, I'm sure many would have been! I'll be going to the dolemites with my family this summer, but we'll probably only be doing daytrips. I really want to do a longer hike by myself, just to escape life and at the same time look for it in nature. LOVE your editing and the incredible shots! Waaay better and more inspiring than films and tv in my opinion👏🏼👏🏼
Karymé Lopez I still make mistakes but I now can’t remember back to the days when I would have to translate things first in my head before speaking. You will get there!!
Fantastic Kylie ! You communicated your stress and fears really well. Me ? I would be stressed to get in the public bus to get to the Dolomites and as a result might not even get to the start. But I revel in being lost and the chance of being confronted by wolves as I love that imposed challenge. If I twisted an ankle accidentally I'd be happier for the extra challenge. But I am scared of things you are not scared of. Thank you for showing the hiking challenge as I would be more inclined to get over my fears to make sure I can get to the start.
SILVINA GOMEZ Yes, I was so grateful. I think these experiences make you more aware of every little thing - the warmth of a bed, a roof over your head - things we forget we are so lucky to have every night.
I think you once said in a past video that you don't really suffer anxiety. I believe that you are gifted and a natural part of giftedness is anxiety (I know, because my son and I are the same), so it stands to reason. Your fear of the dark. Your heightened awareness of beauty and sensitivity. Your intelligence, vocabulary and intellectual curiosity. You are not exaggerating here I think and if you are not, then it is anxiety that is getting the better of you here. I have stopped a third way through your video so now I need to get back to see what happens lol LOVE your videos :)
Hi Kylie, as you may already have noticed, mountains are really good metaphor of life, they can teach us a lot about ourself and our character. You've been unlucky to end up lost in the night, but i think you will remember this experience as one of the most beautiful and inspiring of your entire life and, i wish, with a smile. I'm really glad you appreciated my home mountains, i suggest you to try Lagorai next time :)
This hit me hard....a recent heartbreak (from an Italian man no less) took me by surprise and I am left confused...but I did what you mentioned.....tried to stay busy and enjoyed the ego boost of attention from men that mean nothing to me...but quickly retreated into my own solitude and contemplated how I found myself here again? Thank you so much for this video and how open you are.
Elisheva Richmond thank you for sharing this with me. I’m so glad you understand. Yes, it’s not hard to find flattery from other guys but I don’t think that solves the hurt and confusion in the long term. It just covers it up. Hope your heart heals quickly. 😘
I´m actually from Alto Adige and so I´m already used to this landscape.. but you opened my eyes in so many ways. After watching this, I feel so blessed to call this place home! You are such an inspiring and heartwarming personality and you deserve so much more followers (everyone should see what life is all about and what really matters - and you are the best example)!
Kylie I don't know how you do it. Your videos are always amazing to watch and I always wish there was more more more :) I am so inspired by your ability to shake that really scary experience off and press on. Too often, like you said, we just spin around in it unwilling to move out of it, afraid it could happen again, or something else is out there to get us. I'm so guilty of it. Thank you!
Rixanne H Believe me, I am guilty of feeling that way sometimes too. I think we can also do it with people when we have an interaction that scares us from opening up and trusting again. Of course, this is such a shame when we stop ourselves from potentially forming new beautiful connections but it’s very easy to fall into this guarded mindset.
Good effort, and awesome video! Just found your channel and I'm hooked. If your map reading isn't up to scratch, A GPS would have been very useful for you. You'd have been far more confident knowing exactly where you are. A guidebook would also be incredibly useful. I haven't trekked in the Dolomites personally but many other places, alone and with friends, and found Cicerone guidebooks so good that you could potentially go without a map (although I wouldn't recommend that).
I got stuck on a mountain top in Colorado once. It was a miserable night wearing shorts and a wet T-shirt from sweat. I only had water and a granola bar. I've never been so happy for a sunrise!

I was stuck next to a cliff at the California pacific ocean mountain. I had to wait all night till the morning light because it was really dark and didn't want to risk it.
You were scared of darkness, and because you were alone, and lost, and freezing. I am terrified to know there´s someone out there who broke up with you. This guy is absolutely crazy, and therefore he is dangerous. More than any mountain lion you can imagine. Great video, by the way. You can feel the anguish first, and the relief of the sun and the friendly chat later...
The "Strudel" reminds me my grand-mom, pulling on the dough, spreading it over almost the whole table with 1.5 m diameter but thin, you almost can see through. Fun fact: You need a flour that is little bit coarser than usual.
As i've aready said, you should have done that kind of hiking on Summer, it would have been way funnier: hot, sun, wonderful nature and no mosquitos! Maybe next Summer. That would be great. How can you do that? I mean, travel alone? That's something I think I would never be able to do, that's one of the reasons why I don't even go to London or other places like that :\ Those mountains, the mountains I should be used to see but I've never seen that way, so close... (about 2 hour drive from me) WoW!
Steve Min I think it gets easier the more you do it. I went to live alone in Japan at 17 so since then I’ve had lots of experience that gives you the confidence to enjoy solitary trips like this.
Kylie Flavell wow, I can only image what it's like to be alone (at first I guess) so far away from home! 😮 As you said, it gets easier, but I guess that the hardest part is the first step, that's one of the reasons why I'm 26 and I've never been abroad so far PS: sry for my English 😅
Glad you made it safe Kylie. Learn how to read maps if you wish to do the outdoors on your own again. There are outdoor programs that can you can go on to learn maps. You were probably safest in the mountains (there is nothing there that can harm you) but lacking gear and a map was the problem
Wamuyu Gatheru Yes, you’re right. I had a map but it didn’t show all the little trails - only the big ones. I think next time I will download an app that works even without reception and shows the most updated trails.
I spent most of my life with the earth as my home. .... Ie homeless aloan. In a tent many times the road would break me or i would break myself. So when i travel i always have food water extra gear head lamp. These things helped me to overcome and not to be afraid ..... Gear i became addicted to gear. Is that crazy or what. Great video again! The story, the editing and ofcourse the landscape just amazingly perfect!(Need to switch my Phantom for the MavicPro like right now😁)
kYLIE whats the first rule of hiking? always hike with a friend or in a group! especially in the mountains, if you got injured and couldnt get back then you would have to face that fear of the dark by yourself. Please be smart even the best hikers know to never hike alone. worried about you.
Yeah, I'm paying for the guide if I ever do this. I'll start saving from now. And I must have my husband by my side even so. If one of my daughters ever did this all alone I'd be in such a panic.
A piece of art, and a storytelling masterpiece. Thanks Kylie 🤓
Thibaud Chaumard You’re TOO kind, Thibaud! Merci!!! 🙏🙏🙏

It was so beautiful to listen to you speak in Italian! I'm so glad they were able to get you! Can't wait to see part 3!
Wow, beautiful video! It was far worth the wait. Life has so many ways of testing us but there will always be beauty in the struggle...even if we can't see the greater good in that moment. This was super relatable and inspiring as always
I'm so glad it resonated with you. Thank you!
Great video. Beautiful landscape. Nice people at the mountain cabin. You came really close there, that was a very fortunate turn of events Kylie.
Insightful heartfelt advice. Thank you. Grazie sei un grande 💙
Oh my, I was tearing up watching that! Your videos are truly wonderful. 💕
I swear the two parts of this video came just in time! I love what you do, thank you for this beauty
Soumaya Fikri Oh I love knowing this! Sometimes the universe sends us things just when we need it.
yeah she is really inspiring isn't she?
Getting lost on a mountain is no fun. I’ve done it a couple of times:) Jealous of you spending time in the Dolomites. Have to check them out some day!
I just found your channel and what and how you described yourself in that wilderness brought tears to my eyes and this and only these words came to my mind that: you were loved in those moments of loneliness. You were loved...

Kylie, you certainly must be grateful to God! What a wonderful experience!😯. I was worried about you. Thanks for sharing all that journey.
SILVINA GOMEZ Yes, I was so grateful. I think these experiences make you more aware of every little thing - the warmth of a bed, a roof over your head - things we forget we are so lucky to have every night.

Hi Kylie! You are so brave! And I'm so glad, that this story was have happy end. I'm sure, you won't ever regret about such a moments in your life :)
Daniel Sckarin Thank you. You’re right - no regrets! We can learn from every experience.
Good effort, and awesome video! Just found your channel and I'm hooked. If your map reading isn't up to scratch, A GPS would have been very useful for you. You'd have been far more confident knowing exactly where you are. A guidebook would also be incredibly useful. I haven't trekked in the Dolomites personally but many other places, alone and with friends, and found Cicerone guidebooks so good that you could potentially go without a map (although I wouldn't recommend that).
so right!
I couldn’t imagine how terrifying that experience must have been. ❤
Your writing is really good! Very inspired!
The lip biting and duck lips are a little much with the vanity, but you are a very talented film maker and very inspiring :)
Actually I'm in a restaurant eating salmon and broccoli as I watch this. Big respect for you to take on this journey to get your mind right!
I got stuck on a mountain top in Colorado once. It was a miserable night wearing shorts and a wet T-shirt from sweat. I only had water and a granola bar. I've never been so happy for a sunrise!
Rick Chollett Ohhh so you really understand what I was going through! That sounds brutal!
Kylie Flavell Yes. But in my case it was my own error. I started too late and misjudged the distance. I may gave lingered in a few of the more scenic places as well. But yes, being stuck is not pleasant at all.
Si inspiring video
What hikes do you suggest the best in dolomites ??
Wow seems like that was a challenge! Beautiful footage 😍
Kylie once again an exquisite video. If you enjoy hiking / photography may I suggest you do so in Switzerland. I assure you our hiking trails are well marked. Also
we have an air rescue service 'REGA' that reaches you within record time should one have an accident.
Just inform the police or whoever if going alone on a hike alone and time more or more or less when you should be returning. Plus we have exquisite scenery. Do not worry about our four
languages ( Italian is one of them.) Most people here speak good English as well.
Bunny Rabbit I love Switzerland and I am hoping to go and make a video there very soon!
It's really hard to get lost in the dolomites. Islands in a sea of villages
How many hours a day did you hike?
Kylie me and my husband are thinking to go do the alta 1 in early October. Can you tell us witch huts are open at that time? Love your videos

Ur such a strong person glad u made it safe 😙😙💛💛
I just wanted to put my arms around you and tell you everything was going to be OK!!! I get so invested in your videos....phew!
Oh dear one!
The "Strudel" reminds me my grand-mom, pulling on the dough, spreading it over almost the whole table with 1.5 m diameter but thin, you almost can see through.
Fun fact: You need a flour that is little bit coarser than usual.
The Third International Party of Kekistan what a beautiful picture I have in mind of your grandmother. 💗
Beautiful.
Omg Kylie 🤗🤗🤗
Such an inspiration
As i've aready said, you should have done that kind of hiking on Summer, it would have been way funnier: hot, sun, wonderful nature and no mosquitos! Maybe next Summer. That would be great. A Kylie Flavell's meetup on the Alps.
I think next time you would realize that those red and white marks on the rocks (always refreshed and maintained by CAI volunteers) are not that rare or hardly visible as they looked to you that frightful night.
