You know you're witnessing a moment in history when the DJ doesnt fade the song and lets it play. for those who dont know, these contests are supposed to fade the music at about the 1m30s mark or 2 minutes at most. This dance was so good the DJ gave them damn near 3 minutes because it would have been a crime to fade at 1:44 and not get to witness where it was gonna go. I was in the crowd that night and i know we all felt the magic.
Thank you kindly, for your most brilliant, informative post. You taught us all something very important indeed. Something that makes watching this presentation every more very special. Blessings~~Bev~~
Jakob is a an incredible lead as he encourages his partner to express themselves creatively, while exhibiting his wonderful moves! A beautiful piece of work! West Coast Swing Improv has me captured! ❤️
The video doesn’t compare to seeing this in person. It was breathtaking. The audience was in shock and awe. I started tearing up, it was that beautiful. 💕
✨This dance was heartfelt. I’d like to see them dance together again with their articulate synergistic flow of emotions within their lyrical interpretation. Beautiful.✨
This piece was danced so beautifully that the fact that it was improv is hard to believe. I've seen each of these dancers before, but never as a couple, and they were absolutely magnificent. Makes me wonder what kind of dance training each of them had before becoming West Coast Swing dancers. Very, very special, and I hope they won first place. A standout performance! Thank you. Wish I could have seen it in person. Sigh.
For some extra context, this format paired dancers together roughly 30 minutes before the contest. They then selected a song they wanted to dance to. The dance itself was entirely improvised.
@@mostguitarswins yeah just to clarify, it's entirely improvisational in the moment. They knew the partner and the song, which isn't the case for most JnJ-style contests. Of course, listen through the song a few times and it's natural to start thinking about what you could do when, but nothing is pre-planned with their partner.
WOW WOW WOW!!! What a beautiful dance, they dance as if they have been dancing together for years. Just breathtaking, what a memorable moment not only for them but everybody that gets to watch. I must have watched it 20 times or so.
Jakob and Cameo- OMG- that was incredible! I am covered in dancing goosebumps and deep in star- filled awe at the beauty and depth of your movements. I know Jakob has a gift for unique expressions in West Coast Swing and anyone who contributed to this choreography has set a new breath-taking bar for everyone involved. People will watch this and build on it and make ripples of their own from the Pennie’s you have tossed in this pond of dance. WCS is filled with multiple dimensions and this dance is a shining examples of that. Thank you for sharing your gifts with all of us!
@@DutchKoffie Yes, I knew someone was going to bust my ovaries for that statement. You are technically correct of course. As a genre, this is improvisation and to create in this manner, each person has to be hyper focused in the moment. And, if NOT phoning it in and if truly connecting with their partner, and if incredibly talented and dedicated, they create magic. That is why I love this particular event in WCS. Having said that, if you pay attention, you will notice that bits from every practice, every practiced routine and every dance done between “common partners”, find their way into the Jack n Jill improvisational dances. I could give you MANY examples of that but it’s self-evident. Emeline and Jakub developed this style together and much of the moves used in this routine are based on their jointly created choreography and their ongoing improvisational style. I am not taking anything away from how incredible this pairing was or how brilliantly they performed together, simply noting the contribution of J’Em to the style and content of this performance. I could have said all that but instead I used the “c” word. I’m surprised it took so long for someone to call me out on it!
@@toniruthrivers9234 who is J'Em? Aren't the partners randomly selected as well? If thats the case, basically the gist of what you are saying is that all the pros are practicing with each other enough that when they are called to dance together, they already have tricks up their proverbial sleeves?
@@anthonydambrosio7170 Sorry you see it that way. The fact- that practice is required for improvisation- and that each person brings everything that have learned, every move, every heart wrenching pain, every joy, every doubt, every triumph, every failure and every hope, from their talent and efforts, into an improvised dance, does NOT take away from the magic they create. It is, quite simply, where art comes from- a culmination of all we are and all that we can be, in that moment.
@@toniruthrivers9234 Oh no I don't think it takes away from it at all. I am just trying to understand your comment. If I got the gist of what you were implying wrong, let me know.
Watched a zillion times….Partnership chemistry overload. Not that they are partners in dance btw, just some spirit souls become one! It’s stretching the boundaries of what WCS is to the very limits, any further and it’s not WCS IMHO. Creativity and movement quality of the highest order. In short, if this doesn’t inspire you to dance then nothing will….
Do these two dancers have a similar background in dance style and training? They are so able to read each other’s movements. I was astonished to learn this was improv
They are both high level professionals in a style called "West Coast Swing" (sometimes referred to as modern swing) which is where their insane connectivity really comes from, but they both have extensive backgrounds in other styles of dance as well. Specifically, Cameo has deep background in ballet and other solo styles while Jakub has trained in ballroom and other couples dances.
@Irma Amri if you look for West Coast Swing dance videos , the J and J ones , they dont know who their partner will be or what song they will be dancing to and just improv .

One of the most beautiful swing dances I’ve seen, actually brought me to tears. I felt the lift moment coming, so glad they went with it.

They literally had to kill time before the next couple while everyone recomposed themselves. It was unreal.
Yes, I can believe it. Watching it on the computer caught me unawares. I wasn't expecting the emotional journey 💓
@@mostguitarswins Love this
I agreed, the energy in the room was out of this world. They deserved every bit of that standing ovation.
Thank you for sharing your personal experience, it adds a richness to watching the video.
Watching this dance in person was easily one of the best dance moments of my life.
Same here!!
OMY.
It is as if he dances, and includes her in his dance. So amazing to see a man so fluid in his lead.
This should be a first place. So moving!

They look effortless. Gorgeous.
That dance is one of the many reasons I love West Coast Swing

So random drawing of partners?
Thank you. I’ve been wanting to ask if this was improv but was too nervous of looking unknowing
I wondered about that. I figured it had to be a prepared routine, but 30 minutes to create such ART!
@@mostguitarswinsThey found out their partner and picked the song 30 minutes before. They didn’t create choreography in that time.

This is my favorite version of the song, and the dancers brought it to life so beautifully. ❤
This is so beautiful. They did so well together. Cameo is so smooth, so balanced, so musical. It was truly poetic,
Damn, just hot damn!~~PERFECTION/BEAUTY AT ITS FINEST! True artform that went beyond the bar of excellence!~~Kindly, Bev~~
Oh it’s so emotionally beautiful more than any word can explain. I love this! Thank you. ❤️
Great great great ! Jakub expresses so much happiness when he dances.
That was so amazing. I can watch this over and over again and it still moves me....
Might just be my new all time favourite
There is one more amazing dance from Jakub and Stacy Kay in Chicago Classics 2018.Very smooth and so synchronized.

As someone else said. Wow, Just Wow.
Beautifully done! Bravo!
they picked the most epic music i know and showed their talent in so many ways.....absoulty awesome. loved it, thank you
They didn’t even pick it, if you can believe that. It was randomly chosen by the DJ and the dance completely improvised! 🤯
LOVED IT !!!!!
Breathtaking.
Yay! I've been waiting to see this dance 😍. Wow, it's stunning!
This is how I dance in my mind dreams!
