Just for a bit of further context since the part with Finnick's proppo gets a little lost in the background of Peeta's rescue, but its important to the lore lol. Loved this reaction you guys! Appreciate that y'all understood both Katniss and Peeta for everything that they were going through. One of my favorite moments is when they're using Katniss singing "The Hanging Tree" to Peeta. Many parts of the song are glitchy, but the one line that comes out clearly is 32:37 where she sings, "Where a dead man called out for his love to flee"...right before Peeta decides to give the warning that the Capitol is going to bomb district 13. It's SUCH a haunting parallel, because Peeta knows he is a "dead man" for his decision sacrifice his life in order to give one last call to his lover, Katniss, to flee. Gives me chills and breaks my heart every time.
Appreciate the love! And yes we try our best to try and understand each character for who they are. President Snow looks to do anything to get his way and doesn’t care who it harms. This movie had a lot of very good moments, definitely pulls on the heart strings a bit.
President Snow's Granddaughter didnt have a mockingjay pin. She reacted to the "any symbol of the mockingjay" comment because she chose to wear her hair in a braid deliberately, inspired by Katniss - so a it would technically fall under the symbol of the mockingjay. I believe the hairstyle was trending in the capital because of Katniss' popularity and she also made comments about wanting to be like Katniss in the first movie. Really loving your reaction vids and I'm super happy I discovered your channel recently!
Actually, Peeta was stung 4 times by the tracker jackers in the first games (at least in the book). And they did start the highjacking before his last interview. In the book, he's really struggling to give them the warning because he's fighting his own brain.
You’re both so impressively good at this reaction work! Intuitive. Insightful. Compassionate. Bravo! Aways impressed how you figure things out way early and put events together to synthesize info. Cool. Thanks for sharing.
We truly appreciate you & this message. It means a lot to us & we try our best to be ourselves & be real w/ you all & w/ our reactions. Happy that you’re enjoying them, much love💙
Coin not shooting back was more strategy than softness. The reason why she waited it out is because she realized the capital didn’t know exactly where district 13 had munitions and population underground. Had she shot back, the capital would have been able to locate all that and bomb right at it and thirteen would have been done for. The reason why in the end there was no casualties is in great lengths because of that.
With the losing weight thing of Peeta, he didn’t have to lose any weight for that role, they completely used CGI the whole time to make him look like he lost weight. Josh Hutcherson said this on an interview years ago if you are curious about that one.
Her actions and reactions regarding peeta were so justified especially when you remember shes only 17 years old, people always forget that bc she looks older lol
while it is not mentioned in the movies, the reason why johanna’s hair got shaved off was because they mostly used electricity and waterboarding as a means of torture on her to get her to come clean,, they shaved her head because they wanted her to feel as much pain from the electricity as possible without her hair absorbing any of it. the three that were saved had spent 5-6 weeks in the capitol being tortured, where they would constantly hear the screams of each other,, as for the rest of the victors that remained in their districts, most of them had been publicly executed as they were all seen as dangerous and may be in compliance with the rebellion
The folks in D11 (and D7, probably) have equipment they use to scale the trees so fast, kind of like tree climbing spikes that modern arborists use, or the ice shoes that are used by mountain climbers. D11 is the agricultural district, produce pickers, and D7 is the lumber district, so their bodies are also very used to that kind of work. Unlike the Peacekeepers who probably can't climb stairs in that uniform without getting winded
My favorite fun fact about this movie is that while they were filming they kept Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutchinson separated, so Katniss’s reaction to seeing Peeta for the first time was authentic. I cant wait to see yall do part 2 and hopefully the prequel too!!
19:00 3’s up 21:40 her speech was…fire 22:46 lol I love the way the whistling got to you 29:37 good song 45:16 such a crazy moment Great reaction as usual.
Happy to hear you guys enjoyed it so much! For some reason, there's a general consensus among the majority of viewers that this is the least enjoyable one which I don't understand at all.
30:30 You were dead on with the slavery connection for the song. The Hanging Tree was one of many songs slaves would sing to guide themselves to a "conductor" of the underground railroad. Every community had a tree used as a "hanging tree" which the railroads often used as meeting places. Taking back a symbol of their oppression to become a source of freedom for those willing to take the leap of faith. It is a song of freedom. And an EXCELLENT choice to have Katniss sing in that scene. Very powerful song and moment.
This breaks my heart all over again bc the one thing peeta wanted from the first movie was for the Capitol to not change him and they’ve ruined his identity, not to mention getting beat back home and then getting beat and shocked in the Capitol then to find out they killed his family too smh peeta doesn’t deserve any of it
Seeing photos from certain places around the world that look like 12's devastation right now has made this movie hit differently for me. It hits harder, especially knowing those situations don't have near as easy solution.
I don't think it's a female thing, so much as a bonding thing, I've bonded closer with my cats than I have most people, who can be so cold and judgemental. The amount of love and comfort I've received from my cat that died just a couple years back is a bond I miss every single day. Very few humans have ever been there for me or comforted me the way she did.
That’s true, after saying it i felt as if it came out differently than i wanted. I (swizz) am sorry for your cat & hope that you can find someone who can give you a glimpse of the love you two shared💙
@@DaKidsReact I have a loving husband, who I've bonded with more closely than any human or animal, but it can be hard to find good people, and much easier to find good animals. xD
i cant recommend that you read these books after this enough, they somehow manage to be so much darker than they got here and seeing whats happening through katniss' eyes adds alot to the story via the purpose of seeing whats going on through the eyes of a child, they're absolutely amazing books and if you do read them i dont think youll be disappointed!!
Just letting you guys know, that after the month of Spooktober (when film buffs, and youtube reaction channels alike watch scary movies), there's the month of Noirvember - a time for watching Film Noir. Original film noir, aka "black cinema" due to dealing with the dark side of human nature, were made between 1941, and 1958, in black, and white. Later, a number of neo-noir films were also made, dealing with the same themes, but in color, and more modern film techniques. If you're up for it, here's a list of "must watch" stuff: The Maltese Falcon (1941) - considered the first film noir, with Humphrey Bogart, based on Dashiel Hammet's classic. The Big Sleep (1946) - Bogart again, based on Rayond Chandler's novel. Confusing, because of the Hayes' Code, which prohibited mentioning several ke elements of the plot. The Naked City (1948) - filmed on-location in New York, when other films were made in studios in Hollywood. Touch of Evil (1958) - Orson Welles' masterpiece, and the last of the original film noir. The 1998 edit that incorporates Welles' 52-page memo on how he wanted the film edited is the one to watch. Also: This Gun for Hire (1942) - Alan Ladd and Veronica Lake - especially relevant in the context of L.A. Confidential Double Indemnity (1944) - a classic. The Detour (1945) Neo-noir: L.A. Confidential (1997) - Crowe, Pearce, Spacey, Basinger, DeVito, Cromwell, Strathairn - stacked cast, and a great film. Angel Heart (1987) - Mickey Rourke, and Robert DeNiro. Body Heat (1981) - William Hurt in what is basically neo-noir Double Indemnity. Devil in a Blue Dress (1995) - Denzel Washington becomes a private investigator in 1948 L.A.
It’s crazy when actors have to act like they’re badly acting, making their acting obvious, then go back to good acting, where it doesn’t look like they’re acting 😂
I just found your guys’ channel this week, and am so excited I’m just in time for a new reaction! That being said, I’m hopeful you guys will react to the prequel A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes once yall finish part 2. It recontextualizes a lot of what you learned in the mainline series, you even learn the origin of The Hanging Tree song that Katniss sings!
The little girl was Snows granddaughter. She didn't have a pin she had her hair in Katniss's style and she realized it so she was taking her ponytail out.
There is a origin story to the "Hanging Tree" song in the Hunger Games Prequel called Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Also that song always reminds me of Billie Holiday's "Strange Fruit" which depicts violence done to Black Americans in the south during and post slavery.
I remember watching the movies a bit after they came out. I had only just read the first book as well but never picked it up again. I remember when I first watched it how upset I was with Gale. I felt like he was letting his emotions for Katniss block what Peeta was actually doing. And also blocking what Katniss was going through. She was going through so much worse than worrying about which boy she cared for because, I felt at the time, she cared for them the same amount but just mostly wanted this to be over with. So happy to rewatch it again and I enjoy seeing what I missed through your guys’ eyes!
The metaphors in this series are so powerful and relevant to world history (Colonialism, Slavery, the Holocaust) and current events (Capitalism and how corporations and governments use developing nations for cheap labor or to steal a country’s resources) First time I watched I immediately thought that each district represented a colony or a plantation. Plantation especially with the peacekeepers aka overseers, violent intimidation and communication suppression between the districts. It’s so well written. Looking forward to watching the last one with you guys.
35:28 , Finnick thinks he was wrong, but he wasn't. He was right! He said he thought the whole romance thing in the 1st game had been an act. But in the 2nd game when Peeta almost died, he realized, by her reaction, that Katniss really DID love Peeta. And he was right -- in that moment. Katniss started developing romantic feelings for Peeta around the 2nd game. She'd already thought he was a morally good person -- better than most -- but it wasn't until about then, and especially when Peeta's heart stopped, that her feelings toward him started to change, and it wasn't an act anymore. I love that moment from the last movie: directly after he resuscitated Peeta, where Finnick watches Katniss and Peeta, and realizes the feelings are real, and thinks he's been wrong. Such a fine bit of acting from the Finnick actor. So about the 1st games, Finnick was right that it WAS an act, on Katniss' end. Peeta had always loved Katniss. But Katniss didn't really love Peeta back until after the 1st game was over. I wonder why Katniss didn't tell Finnick.
I don’t know if someone mentioned it before but Peeta’s weight loss was actually largely CGI. The actor did not starve himself for the movie, thankfully!!
Cressida was Margery Tyrell from Game of thrones I love your reaction you don’t just dismiss katniss like I’ve seen other reactors do, you take into consideration that katniss is only 17 and has the whole war on her shoulders everyone is looking to her to save them and gale makes me so annoyed he’s so self righteous he think he would be able to hold out on the torture
That’s why she looked so familiar lol but yeah I think that’s something that can be forgotten in the mist of the chaos, is that Katniss is still a kid. She does her best in the role she is thrown in and Gale can be annoying but then again he is also still a kid that is in love with someone he knows doesn’t love him. So hard to judge any of the people for one because of the circumstances and two because most of them are still kids.

This is fanfiction. This was never mentionned in the books. Besides, Cinna wouldn't have the money and there's absolutely no reason Snow would agree to this.

What a toughtful, empathetic and insightful reaction. Its speaks volumes on the great quality of people you two are
Appreciate the kind words more than you know!! Thank you❤️
I love how Jennifer Lawrence sang the song "The Hanging Tree". Yes, her voice is breathy, but it works for the song.
Definitely fit in perfectly to the movie.
@@DaKidsReact Especially with the revolution against President Snow & The Capitol
Her actions and reactions regarding peeta were so justified especially when you remember shes only 17 years old, people always forget that bc she looks older lol
Just found you guys over the weekend, loved your thoughtful insightful reactions to hunger games & green mile so I subscribed 💙
I found them yesterday n thought they were hilarious…THG is my favorite series so I enjoyed rewatching it with them🫶🏾😭
We appreciate you so much & happy you enjoyed our reactions💙
We appreciate you & much love💙
while it is not mentioned in the movies, the reason why johanna’s hair got shaved off was because they mostly used electricity and waterboarding as a means of torture on her to get her to come clean,, they shaved her head because they wanted her to feel as much pain from the electricity as possible without her hair absorbing any of it. the three that were saved had spent 5-6 weeks in the capitol being tortured, where they would constantly hear the screams of each other,,
as for the rest of the victors that remained in their districts, most of them had been publicly executed as they were all seen as dangerous and may be in compliance with the rebellion
19:00 3’s up
21:40 her speech was…fire
22:46 lol I love the way the whistling got to you
29:37 good song
45:16 such a crazy moment
Great reaction as usual.
Appreciate the love!!
Happy to hear you guys enjoyed it so much! For some reason, there's a general consensus among the majority of viewers that this is the least enjoyable one which I don't understand at all.
We can see why it’s the least enjoyable one but we thoroughly enjoyed this & all of them. This last one though😬🔥
48:29 Philip Seymour Hoffman was the guy who played Plutarch, the gamemaker. He sadly passed away during the filming of Mockingjay Part 2. 😢
If you mean this hanging tree song, this song is a creation of Suzanne Collins, asexplored in the prequel.
@@spazzyshortgirl23 lol, the prequel explains how it went down in real time. But the actual lyrics are inspired by Strange Fruit.
I’m so happy I found this channel, you guys genuinely make me so happy, keep it up can’t wait to see you guys grow!
We truly appreciate you & happy we could make you happy & that you enjoy our reactions! Much love💙
It hits harder, especially knowing those situations don't have near as easy solution.
they recast the cat! lol
Heavy on the “She ain’t blink yet. I ain’t playin with you…”
🤣🤣🤣
So excited!! You guys are SO MUCH FUN to watch movies and shows with!!
The district twelve sign is not only a sign of respect but also a salute, to say goodbye at funerals or wish the tribute luck.
@@DaKidsReact I have a loving husband, who I've bonded with more closely than any human or animal, but it can be hard to find good people, and much easier to find good animals. xD
I screamed so loud when you said wonkru😭😭😭
🤣🤣 IYKYK
Ya’ll definitely ain’t ready for the next one but I’m patiently awaiting part two and your insightful reactions
Finished part 2 about 3 weeks ago & we definitely weren’t🔥 coming to UA-cam in 2-3 weeks!
i cant recommend that you read these books after this enough, they somehow manage to be so much darker than they got here and seeing whats happening through katniss' eyes adds alot to the story via the purpose of seeing whats going on through the eyes of a child, they're absolutely amazing books and if you do read them i dont think youll be disappointed!!
If you're up for it, here's a list of "must watch" stuff:
The Maltese Falcon (1941) - considered the first film noir, with Humphrey Bogart, based on Dashiel Hammet's classic.
Also:
This Gun for Hire (1942) - Alan Ladd and Veronica Lake - especially relevant in the context of L.A. Confidential
Double Indemnity (1944) - a classic.
The Detour (1945)
Neo-noir:
Can’t wait for y’all to watch part 2 !
Finished it 3 weeks ago, will be on UA-cam in 2-3 weeks🔥
Great reaction 🔥. Part 2 is even more action packed. already waiting for your reaction.
Part 2 was INSANE! Will be coming to UA-cam in about 2-3 weeks🔥
I hope you guys watch The ballad of songbirds and snakes when you’re done with the hunger games. It’s the sequel about president snows rise to power.
It’s crazy when actors have to act like they’re badly acting, making their acting obvious, then go back to good acting, where it doesn’t look like they’re acting 😂
They could climb the trees fast because they had spike rigs on their boots, which strap to their calves...lumberjacks. (Joanna's district.)
We have it scheduled for the 30th to watch on Patreon & it’ll be up on UA-cam mid November.
22:44 Can't even complain about the scream jumpscaring me, that transition was fire
"that boy got the bird flu?"🤣😂💀
Rest in peace to Plutarch Heavensbee’s actor aka gamemaker
The attention to detail you both have argh I love it! I'm suscribing
YES! I've been waiting for this. 🥰
We hope you enjoyed it💙
@@DaKidsReact I did!! Always love the commentary haha. Prim just couldn't leave her cat behind - I get it, would have been me.
Phillip Seymour Hoffman is Plutarch Hevensbee. The blonde guy game maker.
RIP to our guy😢
I don’t know if someone mentioned it before but Peeta’s weight loss was actually largely CGI. The actor did not starve himself for the movie, thankfully!!
Excited for the part 2 guys! Great reaction as always! :D
Great reaction as usual guys! Cant wait for Part 2. Keep up the great work ‼️ ☮️ 💜

Love you guys, always enjoy your videos. Looking forward to watching Part 2 with you!
We love you & happy you enjoyed our reaction! Part 2 coming in 2-3 weeks💙
Been waiting for this one😌 Excited to watch!!
🔥🔥🔥 The Hungrr Games is an amazing series!
49:37 yeah bro... i was worried about this too. My mans payin attention ;)
48:00 i said wonkru aswell lmao, one of my fav shows

Cressida played Margery in game of thrones.
You guys are good reactors :)

Lmao love you! Appreciate the support ❤️
If yall haven’t seen it, Yall should watch Game of Thrones. One of the best shows ever made. Interesting storylines, complex characters, beautiful set design, brutal fights. I would love to hear yall trying to figure out the plots & theories.
We’ve watched it twice off screen
I really think you guys should read this series and the Harry Potter series. They did a good job with the movies of both series but the books are even better and convey more how much all of the characters are emotionally impacted. The book is always better.
It's been said that Cinna actually bought Katniss so he could protect her from being sold to someone who would use her 😭
Wait what😨😨😨😢
@@DaKidsReact Like Finnick said, the capital sold and basically pimped out all the victors. If you didn't comply,he killed your family. Which is why Johanna had no one left. Cinna didn't want that happening to katniss. So he bought her.No one cared what he used her for. So he kept her safe and never told her.👍 A real one
@@DaKidsReactCinna doing that wasn’t in the books, maybe in a fanfic? Another thing not in the books is the emphasis on the Peeta-Katniss-Gale love triangle (the movie omits some Peeta kissing and adds Gale kissing scenes).
This is fanfiction. This was never mentionned in the books. Besides, Cinna wouldn't have the money and there's absolutely no reason Snow would agree to this.
Y'all so funny!
💙
I hope you guys are planning on watching the new one too
We have it set for Patreon on the 30th!
did I just hear a the 100 reference
Yessir!

Love watching some of my favorite movies with you guys ....and I cried along w/ you when mags died 😢
Mags scene hurt, she deserved better😢
Watch grave of the fireflies
So in your options, do you still think catching fire is the best one?
THAT'S A GREAT QUESTION.... to be fair, I (swizz) would say, Catching fire (slightly) above this one & part 2!
Phillip Seymore Hoffman died of an overdose during the making of the final film but luckily that had enough to keep his part. He is the game maker (in catching fire) who is now working with President Coin.
RIP to our guy😢
Free Palestine.
Jennifer lawrence really sang that lil song for this movie. Thrn they put it on the radio for like 6 months. 😮😮😮 she was slightly embarrassed but it was koo.
