I had some door frame issues ( just like in VC's door video) that I mud framed so trim would go on straight. I used 20 minute quick mud,it turned out okay. I really appreciate his no nonsense work on remodel real world problems. Thank you very much.
I have built buildings all my life and I am no longer young. This man may be the only drywaller on Earth that looks at walls like he does and tries to fix them. Every other mud man I have ever met would slop it across there as quickly as they could and then want to be paid. If you said something they would say if was the framers fault and it really is. Great job fixing someones else's mistake.
Been in construction for years. The only time level or plumb actually matters, is when pouring a foundation and rough framing. Aside from that, the only thing that matters is how straight or square it appears. Sometimes plumb or level looks horrible on a settled house. Good eye Vern.
@@MAGAMAN Well then it’s a good thing the floors aren’t even finished yet you dumb shit and who cares about wasting a little bit of mud 😂 it’s not a waste if it’s making my walls look better you Maga people So stupid it’s funny 😂
Awesome man, I haven't done drywall in fifteen years and recently took a second job doing it again. Learning a lot from your videos and working for myself has allowed me to grow better.
This guy is amazing. I need him to come to my house and fix all the builders mistakes. One wall is bowed like 3 inches - new construction. Can’t make this up
Nice!!!!!, You always give the next man behind you a better surface, carpenter, painter what ever the case may be, to perfect it for the HOME OWNERS, their the ones who have to LIVE WITH IT, really good work little brother, and good eye.
I really like watching people who are great at what they do as they do it. The focus and intensity is 100% and this is cliche, but it is poetry in motion. Brain and eyes, hands and tools all working in complete synergy.
Every video I watch has been a big help. You have a good teaching way. Every video you do seems a lot like a seminar for certification training. I've been a floor refinishing and painting contractor for 30 years.I have a few guys that are good with trowels. But you're certainly more fluent than they are. I like the variety of compounds you use also. Great job buddy. PS I like you canadians. Mostly because of Trailer Park boys and Kenny vs Spenny. I can add you to the list now too. You know what I'm sayin
Coating big areas with confil has a distinctive sound to it. Kinda sounds like crackling bacon. Oddly satisfying to hear. Weird shit I think of when zoning out on job sites....
Tweeking Oregonian style! So confill appears to be similar to a product I used to use called Foam Coat. Now I understand why you like it so much. I used it to fill a dent in the door of a 1978 Grand Prix I had, and it lasted for years. LMAO
I watch your stuff a lot and will be relying on these videos when I'm in the position to train a crew, thanks for your wide range of trade thouroughness
Why wouldn't you just shim under the drywall while it's still in the rough? Just take the screws out on either end and shim thin pieces of wood until desire height and if you want you could mix the mud in with it then screw back down. Fast and strong!
I'm impressed with your skill level. Experience does help but you obviously have to pay attention to what you are doing over a prolonged period of time.
All ur videos r great....they’re easy to watch and informative....your presentation makes it, so the theory finds its way back in the heat of the battle
Just now doing my first drywall crack repair ever and learning to use the finishing trowel . I'm mad with jealous rage with how easy he makes it look. It is frustrating getting the feel of it and learning to get smooth passes.
I'm so very impressed by this man! Great work, and fast too. Knowing your materials.. what to use for different situations, plus excellent trowel/knife skills definitely separates a pro from a novice.
Some skills, man. And you're doing it all, with "resting pulse"? Doing some pulse-exercise training on your free time? Calm and efficient - I love this!
You can also get a metal external bead which can be stapled in the plaster board also or nailed or screwed on and can provide the corner to not don't as much as paper tape.
I ran into this issue when I remodeled my sister condo. I couldn't get the top rails to flatten out. I ended up with a wooden stained board over that wall. You're too good bud.
Found this Quote from people who use StructoLite. One thing to note about Master of Plaster is that it sticks to anything equally well. However, StructoLite does not. It sticks to plaster without issue, but it has an issue with drywall. This has to do with the drywall paper sucking the water out of the plaster too quickly as it cures. This can cause cracking. This is why we picked up a gallon of Plaster Weld.
Another great job!..idea for future video, how to texture a wall. My folks said that a fellow used a damp burlap sack to texture the plaster in their home 70 years ago (now my home)...Would be good to know some of these techniques when doing repairs.

I'LL REMIND YOU EVERYDAY OF YOUR LIVES WHY SOMETHING LOOKS LIKE CRAP UNTIL YOU FIX IT."
to make it perfect you could use some straight-edge wooden forms around each side and then fill and screed your con-fill. Afterwards apply your corner beads and finish off with a top coat. Easier than eye-balling.
Here in the states we have a material called Durabond. I use it for prefill, with mesh tape of heavy fills like in this video then finish with a sandable mud.
@@mrpanda2655 no, you don't have to, but led dimmers work better with electronics in the led bulbs and fixtures. In this day and age, he's better off switching to led fixtures. The dimming range is also better suited to led than incandescent.
It looks like you care about doing a good job. I would however recommend that you use a 1/8 Luan strips or other shims underneath the drywall to shim up areas where necessary on the hand rail. Also, a full metal corner bead with mesh tape on the edges is more suitable for a high-impact area like that. Those paper flanged corner beads are more liable to crack especially when you are floating out with thicker coats of mud. Just my opinion from my experience.

I have a house remodeled 5 years ago that has faux wood very very durable tough fake hardwood laminate floors with a 4-inch baseboard. When the baseboards were repainted some paint got on the flooring and is noticeable in some areas. Should I caulk between the bottom of the baseboard and the floor in that little Gap or just leave it?
