I think the lighter color has gotten more brassy on your hair. I think a darker color fits your complexion much better although that thick hair is beautiful due to its abundance.

Your hair looks damaged all over. The blunt cut isn’t flattering with dry ends. Maybe the chlorine in the pool or salt water at the beach? Or from bleaching it? I would take a break from any hot tools on your hair for a while tho for sure. You have beautiful curls. Flaunt them!

I agree with you. Her hair even after the shorter cut looks dry and like straw. I think it is a pity because Lisa is so lucky and has amazing natural hair... but she puts her hair through a lot. All the DIY dying and even all the amount of products she uses might put her hair through too much. I wish I had natural beautiful hair like Lisa has. I definitely try to embrace it

Lisa, you’re right it did look fresher with the shorter cut. I have hair very similar to yours and I actually have rarely had damage because I rarely used a flat iron. I gave my flat iron away (ceramic baby bliss) and I now only use a Revlon hair dryer with the round brush attachment. I pin curl my hair with big Bobby pins to create a bit of a bounce at the ends, and I cut my own hair as well. I couldn’t seem to find a stylist that would give me a precise cut. People kept “chopping” it and I would end up with weird uneven pieces. So inconsistent haircuts 💇🏻‍♀️ that I paid for were not my thing. I am growing out my hair and it’s doing well with my own haircuts & simple styling methods, and very little heat. ❤️ I’m sure your hair will be right where you want it soon.

Lisa please try BEYOND THE ZONE split mender at Sally's and use it right after you've showered and towel dried your hair and only it, no other product. This one product will replace all the other products you put in your hair. Also ion moisture conditioner and spray leave in are great. I processed my hair 9 times one day and didn't have to cut it because of the ion moisture line. But the beyond the zone split mender was so awesome. I just recently found this product and loved it so much I purchased 3 more bottles. I wish I could scream from the mountain tips how well this one product works on damaged hair.

Hard water is the worst. I just had to cut a few inches off of my hair as well due to moving to an apartment that has hard water. The surface purify shampoo is great for hard water buildup. It’s pricey but if you have a cosmetologist license you can buy it at a discount. I’ve been using it every time I wash now because I’m scared my hair will get that build up again. It’s not drying at all. Your hair always looks so pretty.

I have the same texture hair as you! It is definitely not an easy hair type whether its healthy or not! Of course healthy is the best but I find that styling damage can come out of nowwhere no matter how hard I try to not have any. I have tried short, medium and longer lengths and I am always trying products to keep it as healthy as possible. Right now I am in the growing out stage, preparing for my move down south and with the humidity a shorter style is not an option. Bleach hates my hair or should I say my hair hates bleach, I have the best hair stylist and its still a constant battle. I just started using a hair gloss on my hair and it has made a huge difference in the appearance of how my hair looks!
Thank you for sharing your hair journey with us, its been really helpful! 😊

I remember several years back looking for hair trimming tutorials on UA-cam and that was the first time I saw yours. My hair was at one time always layered. With covid and no hair salons I have let mine grow out all one length. I think it is about your new length. I used to wash my hair everyday but it got so dried out. Now I stick to a wash once or twice as well. I think we may have somewhat the same colour. I will have to look into that water softener system. I am near the lakes in a city and there is loads of chlorine in the water and whatever else they put in it. Whenever I go up North I immediately notice a softness. I will take a look in your amazin store. Thanks again Lisa, love your hair and make up tutorials!!! Your bathroom looks really nice. XX

Dear Lisa, I know that by now you are an expert with your own hair, I´ve been following you for years and watched your journey, but never the less there is always room for more tips & tricks when it comes to " reviving dead hair" as I like to call it, I live also in a Country with very hard water, lots of calcium and it has made my hair loose shine, brittle & dry....I started to watch all those curly world methods here on UA-cam and the Brasilian Method of Hair Schedule, where you program your month and the days of washing with 3 Main topics, Repair, Nurture and Hydrate, so week 1 your repair, and use products for repairing, week 2 Nurture, and so on as an example, because depending on your hair needs you do more of one than the other which is mostly hydrate, of course, I don´t have curly hair, mine is plain straight but with being brittle and dry it gets like hay so I started to re-adapt and go on this trial-error journey of trying products...and yes you are absolutely right the hair does need protein and tons of moisture, so when your hair is like you show on the video, snipping off by itself, is when you need all the moisture in the world, your hair is extremely high porosity level now, so all you need are products for high porosity, starting with oil co washes, coconut oil, olive oil, etc, high porosity shampoo, conditioners and masks and to finish off, a leave in treatment followed by your Paul Mitchell skinny oil and of course a heat protectant before you use heat, do please try to avoid heat until you get your hair back on track.......The day I started to do this pre-wash step using oils mixed with whatever mask hydrating you have at home, my hair changed for the better it´s not necessary to be the high end ones, a garnier one aloe vera does the job very well...and even the Fanola Line has a great mask and oils too very cheap and brilliant check them out, as of now my hair shines again it´s healthy and like silk....

Your hair looks great!! I cut my own hair too for the last 10 yrs. Have u tried the ponytail cut? You put your hair in a ponytail on top of your head and cut it. Ive been doing that the past few yrs. Saw it on yt. Theres a few variations. The closer you put it to the front the shorter it is round your face n longer in the back like a "v" shape. I like to put mine more in the center on the top maybe just about in line w my ears. After i cut from the ponytail i let it down n brush, part in back n bring the longest parts forward (like u do) to cut more length off. I always seem to have some longer bit from the back that i prefer shorter than it turns out from the ponytail cut. Then cut some shorter fringe around the front. Its so much faster and it gives some layers i love it.

I love it Lisa. It's beautiful. I live in Florida too and I agree, the water ruined my hair! I do everything I can to give it more nourishment and your hints will certainly help! Thank you! Welcome to FL!

You look absolutely beautiful! I really need to have my hair cut! My hair is so damaged from menopause 🥵 my hair is past my waist! I used to cut my own hair all the time but I’m unable to now due to severe chronic pain which causes my hands to shake! Have a wonderful weekend 🥰🥰

Lisa, my dream is to have thick hair like you! I think you really damaged your hair when you went blonde but I’m sure it will improve with good trims like you have done. I do wish you had left your hair dark but you are so beautiful with any color! 💗

Just make sure to wet your hair with tap water before jumping into a pool. Also you can wet and put conditioner, leave it and jump in the pool. Helps protect your hair from chemicals

But if you have a diatomaceous earth pool filter/pump the conditioner will ruin the filtering capability over time; best to just do the tap water. 🙂

Hey Lisa I just wanted to mention that I ended up in a similar hair situation lately and I'm really suspecting the purple shampoo. I started using it almost every other day and my hair started breaking off and looking fried. I just quit using it and am using treatments too. It's slowly recovering. Also I had covid in November and then my hair started falling out and I lost half of my hair so it's hard to tell but I still think the purple shampoo is what destroyed the texture. Anyway, you are beautiful and I know you will heal your hair as you always do! 😘❤💕

I live in Florida. The water is awful. We were on a well until 2 years ago, but now the hard water is so bad it was making my scalp sting when I added leave in products. My husband has just installed an outside water softener, like we used to have with the well water. Look into a proper outdoor softener that you put salt into, or you can say goodbye to good hair! Love Florida, not the water! I notice your hair color is more brassy since you've been here too. I'm a blonde and constantly have to use purple shampoo.

I also think Lisa looks her best when brunette but this colour still looks good on her, some negative comments which are a bit uncalled for, the length is ok to but personally thinking, with her fabulous looks, I'd like to see it longer, she'd easily rock waist length hair

It's also the humidity in Florida that is effecting your hair. My hair gets dryer and more frizzy when I am in a humid place like Florida or Hawaii.

Yes! I agree about the Florida water...we moved out here last June and I don't like the smell or taste of the water out here and it's drying out my hair!

I live in Florida, too, and struggled with hard water. I hope that filter works for you, but I tried one and it only worked short-term, I ended up getting a water softener system for my house and, talk about a difference! The minerals in the hard water will also cause your colored hair to look orange, whether it’s brown or blonde!

One tip the you can do is wear a hat around the pool so that way you protect your hair from the sun and also your face.

I’ve missed you. Lol. You answered so many of my questions. I was going to ask what hair color your rocking. I had Covid last summer. Girl I had to cut it all off. So I do believe it was Covid for you. Also my hair was falling out so bad. I thought it was age (59) at first. Yes I bought rogain. Turns out that wasn’t the case. So I have been on a journey to regrow. Love the video. Can’t wait to see what’s next. Oh thanks for the tip on the water softener here in California (SF Bay Area) we to have hard water. Keep up the good work. Love ❤️ you!!!
