Yup sure was a real place. It was filthy and crime ridden. I remember an exchange student talking about it a long time ago.
The Walled City was part of Kowloon. Kowloon itself still exists, it’s the most populated area of Hong Kong

Seeing Marz playing horror games is the best thing in the world.
it also helps, that she plays games that, i assume most of us don't know about, wich makes it even better.
Yeah, she is fun but the game was thrash. Fetch quests parade decorated by cheap jumpscares. And somehow the ghosts don't look chinese at all.
Kowloon was literally one of the strangest humanbuild places on earth. It's truly unthinkable how people could live like that! I know they had no choice but still... Great video Marz!!
Kowloon Walled City has inspired several films and games, and still does apparently (such as Stray and this game), even though it was demolished 30 years ago. The origin and history of this place is stuff of legend, and that's why it continues to fascinate us.

This place was just like my old dormitory. I still remember those narrow, dark corridors.
Especially that double-layered door, the outside is an iron mesh door, and inside is a regular door.

In an old urban area in China, fifteen years ago, many places were almost identical to this game. Next to the place where I live, there are shops selling paper figures (a Chinese tradition of burning paper figures to accompany departed loved ones) But most of those old urban areas have now been demolished. To be honest, I feel a bit nostalgic for that place.🤣@@Saintmadman

Oh yeah, I remember Gab playing this! Had always known Kowloon was a real place yet never looked into its history until this game.
Kowloon is basically just an urban area of mainland hong kong. The walled city was a whole different thing. Parts of HK used to be almost unbelievable to see, but the walled city was up there at the top of that.

it was an amazing little spot. it's now an open park where the centre square is still honored. my grandma (who lived in similar accomodation in quarry bay) stairwells looked exactly like that

I lived in Kowloon, not in Kowloon Wall City but a district called Mong Kok (usually refered as MK) until I was 15. My apartment looked almost exactly like in the game with lighting and shit at night.
It's like you just popped up in the feed, and I am sub'd, like damn Marz total cool it's been awhile, played the video and was like miss her, she is funny as hell,plus got a game recommend out of it.

The thing about these games is, I wish they were simpler. Dogs, arms, locks, crawbars, witches, also is it just me or the main character teleported when someone charged at him near the beginning? But watching Martz play makes it more interesting.
A friend of mine invited me to try making a game, we'd make a horror game. I didn't end up participating, but the point is that I didn't understand why he wanted a horror game so much when he doesn't play many horror games. Now I know... I think I get it. Lol.

To think this was a real city is surreal and dystopic as hell, a city without open spaces, it looks more like a maze i can't imagine living in there.
