I met Tyler, the Creator this summer I thought he was going to be a dick. But I was wrong, he was so down to earth and Im so happy I got to talk with him.
Really want to start a straightedge stoner metal band called Bongbreaker
Sounds good!
Hardcore, to me, has always been about rejecting apathy and societal norms in favor of free thought, ambition, and equality. And fucking great music. I think your point about getting hung up on the whole straight edge thing was excellent; it can undermine the bigger aims of hardcore if people misuse it as some sort of arrogance crutch. Nothing wrong with straight edge, though.
Funnily enough, the one time I have been truly awestruck meeting (sorta) an idol was Buzz Osborne. It was after the Endless Residency nights they did in Bristol last year: I was outside the pub next to the venue about an hour after Melvins finished. My friend lent me a few cigarettes before they left because I only ever smoke when I drink. So I was outside smoking, looked to my right and saw him walking towards me with two fans walking and talking with him. He looked in a hurry and I didn't want to disturb him so my first idea was just to shout at him:
Me: "Buzz! Buzz!"
Buzz stopped and just looked at me.
Me: "Do you know how awesome you are?"
Still just looking at me, sorta scared.
Me: "You're really fucking awesome!"
Buzz: "Ah, thanks dude!"
Also my lamest fanboyish moment ever. Jesus.
C-Town's Relationship Corner!!!!
I met MC Ride and the rest of DG the other day, it was overwhelming and I had no idea what to do because it was so unexpected, I said thanks for all his music and asked for a pic, he denied a pic with me but I kinda expected that, it was the coolest thing ever though,
wow that holding grudges segment was really powerful
Nas is my idol. Yes I have met him and he is a down 2 earth guy.
really? I've hears he's a cocky asshole
Well you would be wrong. His the best man.
Olando Anônimo thats good to know
>__< I need my youtubers start uploading Positive Role Models videos i dont want these kids getting dragged around by these craapy role models. thank you for the upload
Myke is a G. Straight up. Love his insight
Thanks for answering my question man!
Great video, thanks for the response. You're completely right. My issue with saying hello to an artist is that I go in holding them above me, when really I should just treat them nicely like anybody else. If they're assholes then that's just a negative on their part.
Dang myke straight butchered my username haha but thanks very much for answering my question man
Artists don't come and nurse you when you're sick in an hospital, but nice people will.
Hey Myke, whats your opinion on Julian Casablancas and the voidz Tyranny?
Check out Ecocide, Climate, and Harvest
good morning captain crunch
Being straight edge in the late-90's/early-00's must've sucked, I don't really blame you for distancing yourself at the time. Once the mid-90's revival of it with Floorpunch and Earth Crisis kinda died out, I'm sure it took a turn for the worse.
Nah late 90s was dope. At least up to like 98ish. The whole metalcore scene really started then which I was down with especially the european H8000 scene and such. Tape swapping and Zines where still a thing and still pre everyone having internet. Definitely started to turn around the 00's. The violence he mentions is true though.
I don't really consider "Straight Edge" as a culture, or anything like that. I, simply, have just never been interested in drinking, smoking, etc.
what are your Fave Genres of music?to you listen to CDs.
He is into experimental hip hop, and a lot of death and black metal I believe...
That stuff about straightedge changing sort of reminds me of Atheism Plus, or like the opposite of that I guess.
