DEI policies were only just follow-ups and updates to the civil rights laws of the 1960's, which were attacked from the get-go, and eaten away a lot in recent years.Trump actually removed one of 1960's civil rights provisions in his deranged clown attack on DEI.

      They had issue with women holding jobs they were not qualified for.
      Ive talked with at least 8 people IRL who disliked DEI but their complaints all had to do with women holding jobs they felt like they shouldnt have.
      Ill note; my buddy worked in logistics and his direct supervisor was female. She did her job, he had no complaints. He also worked with a trans person who also did their job, no complaints.
      However, he had ALOT of issues with management and DEI cuz they hired females who just wanted politics rather than work.

      The idea was they were discriminating based on names. If there are 2 candidates of the same skill level and one of them has a foreign name, odds are the hiring manager will choose the more conventional name. This is discrimination based on ethnicity.

    Most people don't even understand what DEI is. DEI DOESN'T mean you're less qualified, it just means that you're just as qualified to do the job as anyone else. But in our society, you're considered a marginalized person; like a person of color, a homosexual, or an older citizen. But companies didn't want to hire these people. So because of this, you're discriminated against, so DEI EXIST so everyone can progress in life.

      @ I work for a company who is part of the DEI program. Twice a year we have 8 hr. classes discussing “inequalities” in the work place. Focusing on minorities and how they have it harder than Americans/white people. Nobody spoke other than the presenter because it’s a touchy subject. Although at breaks majority of attendees would ask questions counter to what the presenter was saying but didn’t feel safe enough to speak up in fear of being labeled.
      It’s not a fun experience, it has nothing to do with growing the business and is all about color and race and not about can that person do the job the best they can.

      On the contrary, DEI does not mean someone is forced to hire a poor candidate. DEI creates a work stream for managers to ensure they’re considering and interviewing diverse candidates. DEI programs removes the names of a candidate from their resume to help reduce bias. DEI programs mitigate cronyism where managers just hire their own, sometimes incompetent, buddies or children of buddies to open roles. DEI ensures performance is used to decide who is laid off, not bias.
      Trust me, corps would not have done DEI if there wasn’t also a business benefit. This whole uproar against it is just about powerful men wanting to behave badly with impunity…you know…like Trump.

    Fortunately, I never found myself working for a subpar DEI company. I could never discriminate based on color. Teamwork and merit based companies are the only companies that people should work for if they seek to work in a company focused on growth.

    The truth is they have seen the race over merit has failed. I watched a part time truck driver who I worked with go up the chain in four years to a high position with a state agency because of his race. Ignoring he was fired from his previous 2 jobs prior to us. His lack of experience, knowledge of the work and his argumentive outbursts because he didn’t understand his position and over stepped his boundaries.

    Why be so upset over this? If those people are qualified for their job based on merit instead of gender, race, or sexual orientation then they wouldnt have anything to worry about. Personal demographics are not job qualifications. The most qualified person should get the job end of story.

      That's not what that meant though. Who told you that's what that meant? Do you know that at one point in time, a gay man, no matter his race, could not get a job he was qualified for? That black people with degrees would not get hired? DEI and affirmative action was set in place to make it illegal to discriminate against anyone based on their race, sexual preference, etc. as long as they possessed the qualifications, it gave them the opportunity to earn a better living.
