Lovely Stacey Kent - she's so lovely. I remember hearing her discuss how she met her husband, Jim; just before they started dating she used to wait for him at the bus stop on Hackney Road when they lived in London. She used to wait with a racing heart because she had such a crush on him! Well, I used to get that number 55 bus too! It's such a small world. Bless you Stacey and Jim. x
Her title "AMERICAN JAZZ WOMAN," couldn't be more justified. How FORTUNATE we are, to have this JEWEL of a SUPERB Musical Artist. Most sincerely and RESPECTFULLY, from a South American fervent admirer of Yours, Ms. KENT ❤
Oh gosh Stacey, from the album that introduced me to your work. Absolutely wonderful. Thank you and the people around you again and again for your wonderful musical creations.
I was fortunate enough to watch her live at Blue Note Tokyo then at Birdland in New York in 2019, before the pandemic. Self reflection : I've been taking travelling for granted. Lesson learnt: Do whatever your heart tells you to, cause they may not be another chance again (in this case, hopefully the wait to Stacey Kent live will be over soon...I've been sleeping in her voice at Sonos) Take care all!
This is wonderful and perfect for our times, when we can't travel. It also remind us that "less is more" - duet version of the song is so beautiful in every note and every words. I wish I could go travel to see Stacey's concert or wish she could travel to Korea!
What a fantastic lyrics, chords and pipes! Love the laid back jazz style - The breathy, cool and sultry delivery is reminiscent of Jazz Goddesses of the past. I also hear a bit of Bebel Gilberto (another fantastic singer) in the sound. I really appreciate this duo, and look forward to hear more.
THIS IS AMAZING SONG !!! THANK YOU !!! DJ SHAWN “D” AMAZING MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY+VIDEO BLOOMINGTON INDIANA - REMINDS ME OF MY BEAUTIFUL WIFE & ALL OF THE AMAZING ADVENTURES WE HAVE HAD TOGETHER … WITH MORE TO COME … KEEP UP THE AMAZING MUSIC.
I love Stacey and Jim Tomlinson together beautiful work one question what has happened to Jim ? Is he ill? He is one of the best jazz sax players right up there with Stan Getz
This is a duet project, produced by Jim. Jim wrote 3 of the songs and arranged all the songs except for Blackbird, arranged by Art Hirahara. Jim plays flute one on of the tracks. This is a duet project, piano and voice. Thank you and you will hear Jim on sax on the album due out next year.
For the most part, I am not a fan of vocal jazz: instrumentals is what I prefer (Ahmed Jamal & Pee Wee Russell are a couple of my favorites). However, you are the exception to the rule. I don't know what it is about your voice that captivates me so, but it does. I will admit, it is certain parts timbre, but also, I believe, song selection. (I also admire that you sing in both in French & English.) I saw you in Minneapolis some years ago & did a quick sketch of you & your band. To this date, I still think it is the best thing I've drawn (being the hobbiest I am) & I enjoyed chatting with you after the show, when I told you that I was going to completely steal your song "The Breakfast Tram " for use in my novel. I am still working on the writing, but have not yet arrived at the junction where I would embark on the tram. This offering, what can I say other than in fits in with all the other lovely, moving songs that you have performed. Simply wonderful. You are a tremendous Artist & the world is a much richer place for your contributions.
I want to sit in my shades sipping my latte Beneath the awning of a famous café Jet-lagged and with our luggage gone astray I wish I could go travelling again. In other, more mundane, words, "I'd relish the inconvenience of getting out into the world, again." How well said, how relevant, and how poignant. As always, Stacey's singing is perfection, itself. I also want to comment on something I've seen in video after video of Stacey singing. She's still and poised; her posture doesn't change once she adopts it. This focuses the attention on the song and her singing. The resulting effect of her stillness is subtle but has more impact than any amount of gyrating. I love to hear her sing; I also love to watch her sing.
