Have you thought about doing a video of the process you use to convert a MIDI file to a draaiorgel playboek? You've described it elsewhere - why not video what you do?
Hi Rob, it's a process that I don't think I could describe in a way that does it justice. I'm no expert, it's just a hobby. I don't have any experience in musical theory so I can't really say what I'm doing because I'm just doing things I've learnt from previous pieces without fully understanding why. There's no school for this, I'm still learning and experimenting even after more than 15 years. It can take me anywhere from several months to only a couple of hours to make a new arrangement depending on the song. I have an entire directory filled with arrangements that I have abandoned just because they didn't work out. The last piece I arranged was the Overture from Johan Strauss' "Die Fledermaus", around 9 solid minutes of music. I made it last month. It wasn't a thing I was planning on doing. I got inspired, heard the piece in my head exactly the way I wanted it to be on the instrument I wanted to make it for, locked myself in for 2 days with no distractions and it came out beautifully. Usually the longer I take the further I seem to stray from my initial idea. Then I never really end up being happy about it and whatever piece I've been making just gets scrapped. Thus trying to document the process would probably lead to anything I make ending up in the bin...
@@ThijsHaenen But then again - I would argue that even if your process is imperfect, or evolving, it would document your process and allow others to try and do the same. Be confident! You are doing something that other people are not doing. Alle beste wensen uit Dorset, en gelukkige nieuwejaar!
I've been hunting for these for years, but the UA-cam algorithm failed me. Thanks Techmoan for linking this channel.
and thanks Techmoan for doing it again in December 2022!

Is dit een boek of meerde boeken?
Dit is één lang boek.
Gaaf Thijs! Zijn de andere arrangementen van jou?
Yes, allemaal huisvlijt!
