I found a quote yesterday that really resonated with me (especially as i think im no artist and procrastinate a lot about actually starting something, afraid it wont be good enough) "Remember, the opposite of depression is not joy, its expression! So create, create, create, for it is the soul's medicine"
Thanks again Wendy. I have a tip to share or what I do when starting a new sketchbook. For those who are a bit like me and have that “I don’t want to ruin a beautiful new book” syndrome, leave the first page blank. Honestly this helps me so much, then once I finish the book I go back and write about what I have done, learned etc. hope this helps anyone who might struggle with first page anxiety. ❤
Great tip 😅 ❤ I would love to do some journaling, I have some sketchbooks waiting, but so far I’ve just used them to try out color, not paint anything meaningful or just do trials, studies or what not. I suppose I dread that I will ruin any pages, not just the first one 😂
@@SoilaArt I would say that test pages are very meaningful and are beautiful and inspiring in their own right. Another tip someone once told me was block paint the first page one colour. I haven’t tried that though but I still think I might 🤔
This video was amazing. I learned so much. The music you chose was wonderful. Thank you ! I would love to see more of these. 😊 Very inspiring and personal. ❤
My youngest daughter has been an artist since the first time she played with paper and crayons. She went through countless reams of paper before she even started kindergarten. She has her masters in Art Education, and has become a very talented potter, and visual artist. She knows I want to do more art, and was thrilled when she saw a sketch I had done. For Christmas she made me a "book to freely write, sketch, and express myself. Nobody is judging it. I love you." She put the permission in the front for me.
I really enjoyed this video!! You are a truly inspirational person. I haven't painted or drawn for 15 years, and you have just given me permission to pull out my Sketchbook, pencils and watercolors. Thank you so much!
I've always felt like a misfit. Uniquely me. I'm grateful that it takes a specific situation for me to be lonely. I'm grateful for your videos, many things you say resonates with me. Again keeping things precious is how i think too. Resistance & procrastination are stumbling stones on my path . Thank you.
I have two books, one for my initial scribbles where I can rework designs and writing etc. and then transfer to my journal. I just find its much more considered and makes me happy. I hope that helps.
Synchronicity strikes again! Just yesterday, I was thinking about finally opening and using a sketchbook I received last year. Last year!!! 🤦♀️It's been sitting untouched-because, honestly, the fear is real. I haven’t drawn in a sketchbook for so long, and I’ve been feeling insecure about my skills. But thank you for this video; it’s the encouragement I needed to tear off that plastic cover and just start creating! Thank you so much, Wendy!! ❤
I look so forward to your videos!!! It's so stressful here in the US right now, so hearing all of this positivity and creative inspiration is just what I need. I do need to set time aside each day for this and stop feeling guilty about it!! Thank you Wendy for being a bright light for us all. ❤
Definitely don't feel quilty about creating and keeping your internal light bright. Our world is bonkers right now. I stopped watching the news and now only read the occasional headline to stay informed. This is enough. Take care❤
Growing up I was ridiculed for talking with my hands and that keeps on resonating a bit. Watching your video I'm reminded how much I actually enjoy watching it, how it belongs to me (and you) and to cultivate (and accept) my legitimate strangeness as René Char said! Thank you for being authentic!
Miss Wendy, As so many people have already commented, I am so glad I found your channel here. I have been watching your videos over the last few weeks for motivation, inspiration and information. As a matter of fact we share a cup of tea almost ever morning now. Thank you for putting yourself out there in such an authentic way, showing your incredible talent, vulnerability and gentle approach to creativity. I'm a newly retired teacher in Canada, now getting back to playing and creating for myself. I've just discovered 'Art Journaling' . Although I've journaled all my life, I feel like so much as opened up for me now. The possibilities are endless and I wake each morning eager to get into my creative space and explore. Thanks for being with me on my journey. Sending lots of love your way!
I love working in art journals/sketchbooks I create my own. My favourite are ones using various paper including brown paper bags and parcel paper, used envelopes mixed media paper and watercolour paper these are my favourite because the pages give me a challenge because not all mediums work on all paper so I have to mix it up :) I also have pages that pull out and extra pages or booklets in the envelopes and pockets it is really fun and gives me more inspiration and ideas. I also have made a lot of journals that are just watercolour paper or just mixed media paper. I don't fear the blank page but I actually enjoy practicing and find challenges in art fun. If people can see their way into looking at their challenges as fun rather then difficult I think their practice would become a whole lot more fun for them.
What a wonderful video. I am a perfectionist and at first I found it so hard to let go. But over time I have learned to just play and not be so hard on myself and things have become so much easier and enjoyable. But it is a process. Thank you
I've been a mother since I was 16, and now at 50, my youngest just graduated from high school 2 years ago. I was thrilled to finally focus on art full-time and even secured a studio to begin my work. However, three months in, my third daughter needed my help to care for her new daughter while she pursued her education and career. Naturally, I agreed, not realizing it would be a full-time commitment from 7 AM to 5 PM daily. Consequently, for the past year and a half, my art and real estate career have been on pause. It's been challenging, but I found solace in starting a youtube channel over the summer to help me have a creative outlet, which helped me adjust to life after parenting-only to dive back into it. It's been enjoyable and I am thankful for the outlet. I've also come to terms with not starting a journal sooner; it simply wasn't the right time until now. I'll continue to cherish the moments with my grandchildren until next winter when my daughter graduates. Teaching my five-year-old grandchild to paint and sew has been a delightful way to spend our time together. Apologies for the lengthy message!
I love watching you create it relaxes and soothes me. Your sketchbooks are works of art. I love listening to your advice as I feel I can relate it to so many things not just creativity, I completely relate to the never fitting in anywhere. I’ve always felt that too all my life. Thank you for the vloggie big hugs 🧚🏼♀️🫶🏻✨🤗xx
I Don t think artists ever fit in.They are unusual people who can entertain themselves and create their own worlds.Regular people who are not artists usually Don t understand us at all.I Don t understand people who Don t create art or play music.
Dearest Wendy I’ve watched this video twice and you touched so many of us with your wisdoms and suggestions. I for one did grabbed an inexpensive scrapbook and a permission statement and drew a drawing of a woman with big hair and facial features that look mor manly than a woman if I’m honest but I did it… never really drew faces as a rule! It was liberating in a way! Have not done art this year due to the grief and desire to create lost … you my dear Wendy are an inspirational artist/ person who helps us all so much. Honest, empathetic, humor, kind, and so caring. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Taking each day as it comes. Sending you love and hugs. ❤❤❤
No way!!! Literally got a decomposition book out and started watching this and omg! I got it exactly for what you stated. I don’t wanna be too attached and the price was good at the market. Thank you for this!!!! Such divine alignment
Hello, I have just discovered you, and I am enjoying catching up on a few vlogs to get to know about you. I am not an artist like you with sketching and painting, I am just starting out and I love fabric and stitch. I have just been so inspired by this vlog to start a sketch book. I have thought about it many times but now feel ready to start. I have a lot of art mediums to try, and now feel inspired to join these with fabric and stitch. Many thanks for getting me inspired. Louise
You can make a fabric notebook for fabric art if you like. There are videos and web pages by others who have done just that. Or add fabric and stitch work to a regular sketchbook. Have fun exploring!
Good Morning Wendy, I like keeping my sketchbook with me at all times, so I can capture all those special moments in my day, that can slip away so easily. I prefer having different ones in my studio, but also a small one with me and a mechanical pencil to make it super easy to use on a moments notice. I love sketching window scenes, roof tops and nature in abundance. Thank you so much for all the wonderful videos that you provide us with... Sincerely KCP
most of my working sketchbooks are just called brain drain, brain dump etc - but agree they can be everything all in one place if that's what works for you - they are just there for whatever you need it to be - great video as always
Hahnemühle was found in Germany in 1584 as a papermill . It´s my favourite brand for sketch books . One reason is that I am German and they got so many different sketchbooks ( different sizes and paper ) ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks so much for sketching and for your incite on journaling. I have 4 sketch books and 1 art journal. My art journal is for mixed media, water colors, gouache, acrylics and asemic and language writing. The others are for watercolor and gouache for land, mountain and oceans scapes as well as plants and flowers. Another for sketching in pencil or charcoal, animal and human figures that I want to paint on canvas, and the others for misc. sketching in pen and adding watercolor or gouach later. Tonight, I sketched with you. I did 3 faces in charcoal. One was a self portrait and the others just random faces. It was such fun. See you next time. 💖
Wendy, thanks ever so much for refreshing my art journal journey. You were the one who introduced me to this concept during the first spring of lockdowns, 4-yrs ago now. When many of us were trying to survive and thrive during the Pandemic. Your tutorial to art Journaling excited me and I have made many journals now, and at least 6 junk journals from scratch for dear friends and family. A few weeks back I bought 5x7 A5 Winsor & Newton 80lb sketch book, with 50 pages in it. I have started to create in it, but in all honesty my creativity still seemed stale. However, your most recent podcast has lite a fire in me again. Why not add pockets in our sketch books, for important things and your idea of a reminder/permission statement is brilliant. Love, love, love what you have shared. I also love your portraits and fairies - your work is very unique and definitely you have your own creative flare. I hope the joy you give to others reflects in your health, and your health will improve as you are shining a very bright light in our crazy world right now❣️ Many thanks for being you❤️💙💛💚🧡
I write a permission statement in my journals ans sketchbooks. I also start by swatching my favorite pallette, too. I love sketchbooks, now, but they used to terrify me.
Thank you so much for caring enough about other artists that you do these videos. Your people are beautiful. I love your inspiration. How is your new grand baby doing? There's nothing like being a Nana. Hope yall have a wonderful week.😊
I agree, however I think maybe get yourself at least a medium grade book. If the paper or supplies are too crummy then you'll think it's you but it's your supplies. That is a lovely quality book for different paint and supplies. Fun to try different books.
Thank you, Wendy for another lovely video ❤BTW, it is pronounced 'harn-e-moo-le'. I went to art college in Germany in the 80's and remember ordering the beautiful watercolour paper at the beginning of term. Being left-handed, I often struggle with ready-made sketchbooks and often make my own.
Love, love, LOVE YOU Wendy to pieces! I am an artist, reluctant and full of self-doubts, but you help in tremendous ways! Love to all my sisters and brothers creating…remember “You already are perfect, so enjoy the journey. You are His favorite child, as am I, so share your love and talent with everyone!”
Love this video! And your drawings and paintings have been evolving so much the past few years - a joy to see how you are exploring. Thank you. I just love starting a new sketchbook/creative journal/art journal. I often have several on the go at once, so if I use wet media, I can work on multiple pages in different books, which is great when one is inspired. And when my muse is taking a break, writing down ideas and doodling and swatching is wonderful to add to my journal. My pages are for esperimenting, as I realised I used to sketch with one type of pencil, and now sometimes a prefer a harder or softer lead (don't let anyone tell you what supplies you are supposed to use). I am one of those who sometimes gets precious with supplies, sketchbooks included, so I sometimes have one from a discount store to "go rogue" and try some technique that's new to me. I have also made my own book from torn down large watercolour sheets, and that is a great way to get the size and orientation of the page you prefer. I don't always carry an art journal with me, but I always have a small notebook, almost phone sized, to jot down ideas, and on rare occasions a tiny sketch. If you don't have a creative journal of some kind, I agree with Wendy - give it a try. It may become mostly sketches, or mostly notes, or mostly paintings, or you might end up with collage. It will be a way to explore, and discover more about yourself and your creativity. Enjoy, everyone, and I hope your muse visits you frequently! Love and light always 🧡❤️💜✨✨✨🤗
I love watching you create your images, Wendy. My diary became my sketchbook during lockdown and beyond . Just recently I have been gessoing old book pages and experimenting on them to stop my blank page fear .
“Ideas Book” is lovely thought!! Thanks for this. Re: travel, yes I often pack a kit & book that I don’t touch, but I’ve learned if I DON’T pack anything I regret it and end up buying something on the road that’s a duplicate of what I own already just to use for a sketch or two. It’s worth having a pared down kit in a zipper bag in my luggage just in case.
Oh I like the spiral potrait sketchbooks because they lay flat too, and yeah the spiral is in the way but I only draw on one side at a time and I'm a penciler and inker. Your art looks amazing! I'm jealous. I guess my rule for my sketchbook is to put stuff in it by Date. I used to try to keep up with some stories, or make a coloring book or calligraphy and seperate it all into seperate books or paper file folders, etc. only but that's not how my brain works so it's all of those things plus random fun doodles and stickers and stuff people give me that I want to remember, etc. Mine is more of a journal. And then I can take pictures out and file them away later or not.
Thank you for your creative support... Great thoughts and ideas!!! I have a sketchbook and I mainly use pencil in it. I'm mainly draw during slow times at work and home... I'm in my 50s now, pencil and paper are just really low maintenance 😊. I do you have a plan to take a drawing and make a mixed media piece for my house. Have a great day 🍄🦉🍁🦋
Thank you Wendy, I just love watching you create🧡. This was a wonderful guide to our ideas books (love that name) and a reminder to my creative self (which often gets stuck) to keep going.😊
I've just hit 10 years of journaling and I've settled on the term 'creative journaling' being my favourite term for it. I agree that there's a lot of overlap. What I do on the pages can vary a lot from being like a diary, to being more like a junk journal where I stick in a lot of ephemera or tickets, to just creating something more artistic that I like that is closest to art journaling. But I feel the term creative journaling can encompass them all
Koi--- (coy) like the fish. I have these, too, and yes they're really nice. But i generally 'treat myself" by using my Daniel Smith or Scminke. they are so dreamy. I just love your portrait with all the colors, so beautfiul.
I ADORE you! So happy I stumbled across your videos. I don’t draw or paint but I’m in an obsession mode of moving to as many forms of art from sculpting with clay then adding wire. I’m not sure how but I started dying corn husks and making flowers for all my family and friends. I love listening to you talk and think out loud. UA-cam rolled over from another person I follow to your video about decluttering. I stopped, looked around at the madness of my art space and realized why I’ve been feeling so frustrated lately. I really needed to hear that today to progress. You are so neat, I wish I had a friend like you to drink wine and do random art. Looking forward to seeing your other videos.
Ah, this was a good one, Wendy! I feel so similar about sketchbooks, they're my playground and safe space for practice. I know full well I don't have to show a single soul what I draw and paint and never did when I was younger because there was no social media, hehe ;) But nowadays I opt to share all my art making: the good, the bad, and the ugly with my little art community because I love being real and honest about my art practice to show that we aren't all out here living the "art influencer" lifestyle of having all perfect work all the time (I mean who does, really?) You have been an incredible example of how to honor your creative spirit with warmth and kindness and to let go of perfectionism and to show up for yourself when you can and to get cozy (and "cocoon" as you say) when you're not feeling it. It encouraged me to share what I do on YT (as terrified as I was years ago!) because you're always so authentic about the ups and downs of art and life and I appreciate that. I feel like sharing with others about the weird vulnerable squishy bits of my art practice might help someone else feel better about their own rough patches. To know we are not alone is always such a gift. To learn to have a sense of humor on the tough days and to be gentle and kind with ourselves when we're feeling extra tender. Its about progress and not perfection, its about community and not competition. And the best place to start that practice is within. It's how we speak to ourself and how we show ourself love and kindness through self talk when making art in our safe- space sketchbook!
A make my own journals, with different papers and even canvas in some. I call them “creativity journals”, that way i can do whatever i like at that moment.📘👍🏻🎨😊
I've just found your channel and love it. As much for the art for your wonderful human wisdom. I find my sketchbook experiments are often better than my 'serious attempts' which has been the biggest lesson for me since I started dabbling in drawing a couple of years ago. 'As it in art so it is in life. As it is in life so it is in art. Life is art and art is life." these are my three favourite self quotes to remind myself when I need to remember not to judge things are wrong or right. Re packing the sketchbook and not using it; do that too and I'm happy when I don't use it because it means either I didn't force myself to create when I wasn't feeling it, or I was constructively occupied doing other things.
Thank you for sharing this video. Thinking it over about what I call my art journal...I am now going to call it my experiments and inspirations book. I'm learning all the time from it and it sparks new ideas for paintings a lot.
You're absolutely beautiful! Like a little pixie. And im usually pretty good at guessing ages, but i have no idea with you, but it doesn't even matter! You look great. ALSO, i love your attitude about art!
Thanks for sharing dear ,I have several books from an altered book I made for art mixed media and sketch books ,as well as mixed media books with water color paper, and I switch up depending on my mood in what I want to do . some times i follow along with a class to try different things from different Artists so love that i can do this as I could not attend classes as I would have loved to do years ago as a single mother of three Girls there was not that possibility for me ,so for the most part has been through experimenting and going with in connecting to inner genius as I have been told is what I must have done as some times I am not sure how I have even done some things the knowledge was just there yet I did not know how ,I just go into my art is like being in a different place , and yes we do not always have masterpieces. y art has been a wonderful healing tool for me as well over the years has been so important for me even as a child I always have sketched and painted .💖💖 your videos are so inspiring dear love to you and James 💖💖
I love this video, I saw some roses in one of your works and was inspired so i painted along with you. Thank you for the tips and inspiration. I will definitely draw from some of these ideas when I make art. Especially the permission note. Lots of love see u in the next video. 😊💕
You are so right about the fear of keeping a good sketchbook aside because I don’t want to ruin it. I am trying my hardest to remind myself that I am doing art for me, and when I do this I so enjoy it more and am more creative! I love watching your videos, they are so helpful and motivating! Thank you for what you do and share. 😍
I've always called it a sketchbook, each time I saw your posts on facebook I kept telling myself I needed to start art journaling. I think art journaling tells more of a story and a sketchbook is for doing sketch's, it is for me not sure about others. Thank you for another great video Wendy, sending lots of positive energy your way.
While watching this video I had a break thru with my inktense pencils and how I was working in my sketchbooks. I realized I had become too precious in my books and immediately did a wash to obliterate the painting I was working on. There is nothing like ruing a painting and working it back out to loose preciousness. HA! Many thx Wendy and your caring words to us. They obviously push thru barriers of many sorts.
Loved this one Wendy!! So wonderful for all of us that you decided to create such a wonderful community 🤗 I learned wonderful things today, definitely going to be making some permission slips for myself, always the biggest take away for me when you put up a video is how important it is to be kind and gentle with ourselves..not taught to a lot of us as we were growing up. Love and blessings to you and your family ✨🥰✨
I sometimes will pre-paint pages with a wash of color left over from a painting session. This gives me a jumping off point for a new spread and no fear of the white page.
Thankyou so much for this video and helping me become unstuck!!!! Im just about to embark on an Adventure and was deciding what art supplies to bring. I have a few 'ideas books' with blank pages and as I was watching this video it helped me to understand where I'm at and enabled me to give myself permission to become unstuck. thank you xox
I must say, I am quite fearless in starting a new page, or a new sketchbook, but it is definitely easier if I have made a junk style journal. I have a small version which I take with me to appointments, to draw in while I am waiting. This one is more of a practice style, planning sketchbook, where I try out ideas that I want to use in a themed art journal. All of my pages have been partially started, so I can pick this book up at any time, without the need for a visual reference. My physio is always interested in what I am doing, and he always wants to see my book. He is a lover of drawing, too, and we now have a couple of ongoing drawings ( fantasy, with a backstory), that we exchange each week at my appointments.
Dear sweet Wendy I love what you do and how you work and think and those mittens!love water colour too and value your help in what you say to start a project. I like starting it not finishing as get side tracked easily so it’s back to paint and stitch.
Hi. I appreciate that I found you. I've been watching for awhile now and enjoy hearing your authentic self. 🎉 I enjoy your artwork and encouragement and also tutorials. Thank Creator you're here! There's so much to say. LOL. But know you inspire me!!!! Miigwech! (Me- gwessshh)That means Thank you in Ojibwe (ojibway)
I have so many journals I write in and always want to art in as well. I have trouble mixing the two together. You inspire me to keep going, any journal is better than no journal.
I guess if i'm forced to think about it, i have parameters, but I wouldn't call them rules. I have different journals for expressing different ideas or themes. Some are more for exploring and understanding mediums and techniques. Others are more like art pieces with definite themes. Right now, I'm working on a journal with a fairy theme. 🧚♀️🧚♀️✨️ It's funny how we humans tend to want to define everything. I guess that's so we can better communicate with each other. 🫠Thanks for keeping me company today dear Wendy, as I set at my art table. Sending lots of aloha your way!🥰🌺🧚♀️✨️
Thank you so much for this lovely video. Thank you for the permission slip! I’m a newbie to watercolor, 1.5 yrs… so I’m still trying to find myself, but I love everything about this process ❤
I have several books different sizes and orientation that I use according to the type of art I’m doing. I have a decomposition book that I glue pages together for intuitive smash booking. I have a large A4 book I use for soul mapping..collage,affirmations and general conversations with my muse. I tend to use A5 for acrylics pages from online classes learning new techniques for later reference. My favourite is a handmade journal I made and stitched..it’s not at all precious so I use up leftover paint for background pages without any issues. I always go through a new book and write myself notes in water soluble pencil ✏️ this is a good way to integrate with the pages and a lovely surprise to come across at a later date. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and ideas for inspiration. Love and light ✨🤗💐🫶🏻🎨🌟

So true, an amazing line from a Grace Jones song...:"This is depression, it comes when You block it..this is expression , it comes when You rock it!"

What a wonderful video. I am a perfectionist and at first I found it so hard to let go. But over time I have learned to just play and not be so hard on myself and things have become so much easier and enjoyable. But it is a process. Thank you
This video was beautiful, so lovely. I love to see you painting and hear your ponderings. Thank you, dear ❤
Apologies for the lengthy message!
oh yes, treasure that time... life is a balance isn't it... xxx happy creating! xx
Thank you so much. You're a gem on my journey shining a light for my unsure footsteps.
I love watching you create it relaxes and soothes me. Your sketchbooks are works of art. I love listening to your advice as I feel I can relate it to so many things not just creativity, I completely relate to the never fitting in anywhere. I’ve always felt that too all my life. Thank you for the vloggie big hugs 🧚🏼♀️🫶🏻✨🤗xx
all us misfits don't realise that there are so many of us! If only we had have known before!! xx
Louise
that sounds utterly wonderful ! xx Enjoy indeed!!! xxxxxx
You can make a fabric notebook for fabric art if you like. There are videos and web pages by others who have done just that. Or add fabric and stitch work to a regular sketchbook. Have fun exploring!
I've been watching for years and this is one of my favorite videos yo've ever done !!Great to see you in a great place.
You always make me want to do looser and more freely. That's my goal in my new journal loose and free. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your kind and wise words of incentive and suporta. Really appreciate.
I hope the joy you give to others reflects in your health, and your health will improve as you are shining a very bright light in our crazy world right now❣️ Many thanks for being you❤️💙💛💚🧡
Great book on this Your Brain on Art. Keep creating everyone. Thanks Wendy
38 minutes of the most wonderful common sense I've heard on YT! Thank you so much!
I love this episode! Thanks so much for your encouragement.
This was an exttraordinary video! Your approach takes the fear out of journaling. Thank you!
Just recently I have been gessoing old book pages and experimenting on them to stop my blank page fear .
happy creating ! xx
And then I can take pictures out and file them away later or not.
oh yes, that's the way, honour the way your brain works! xxx
How very lovely to hear your health is doing so much better. Bless the Unexpected Gypsy!
Thank you so much for this video 🦋
I love your sketchbook/art journal videos ❤
Thank you for your creative support... Great thoughts and ideas!!! I have a sketchbook and I mainly use pencil in it. I'm mainly draw during slow times at work and home... I'm in my 50s now, pencil and paper are just really low maintenance 😊. I do you have a plan to take a drawing and make a mixed media piece for my house. Have a great day
🍄🦉🍁🦋
Thank you Dear Wendy. You are a true inspiration! Love Lisa
Merci. De l’enthousiasme, s’exprimer, librement, merci. 😊
But I feel the term creative journaling can encompass them all
I don’t do journals of any kind, but I did enjoy hearing and seeing your process. Very interesting and enjoyable. Thank you.
Koi--- (coy) like the fish. I have these, too, and yes they're really nice. But i generally 'treat myself" by using my Daniel Smith or Scminke. they are so dreamy. I just love your portrait with all the colors, so beautfiul.
Loooooved this Wendy, I’d give it a 100 thumbs up if I could thank you ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I ADORE you!
Omg, I’m watching one now and as soon as I hit send, you said “On this day I felt like a misfit and I didn’t fit in” 🥺Your an amazing person.
Thank you as always Wendy ✨🫶🏻✨
I LOVE YOUR PAINTING
Please put all this creative wisdom into a book! I would buy it in an instant!
One day! It’s just right now it’s hard to find the time!
Re packing the sketchbook and not using it; do that too and I'm happy when I don't use it because it means either I didn't force myself to create when I wasn't feeling it, or I was constructively occupied doing other things.
yes, love all of this, thanks for sharing xxx
Thankyou Wendy for your lovely chat and sharing your thoughts. Your voice is always soothing to listen to and sets me up for a relaxed art session 🥰🙏
Thank you for sharing this video. Thinking it over about what I call my art journal...I am now going to call it my experiments and inspirations book. I'm learning all the time from it and it sparks new ideas for paintings a lot.
Wendy I love your art and your videos of your musings . And all of your content . Thanks always for sharing ✨🙏🌝💋
You're absolutely beautiful! Like a little pixie. And im usually pretty good at guessing ages, but i have no idea with you, but it doesn't even matter! You look great. ALSO, i love your attitude about art!
Thank you, I so enjoyed watching your painting!
Thank you Wendy! 🙏☀️ Carola from Sweden 🤗
You look great in rust and black! From another Wendy
also really liked your musical selections!
Thank you for your generosity as always. And the beautiful art.
Lovely video💗💗💗
Thank you for yet another lovely video! You have such a calming effect on me. 💕
I love this video, I saw some roses in one of your works and was inspired so i painted along with you. Thank you for the tips and inspiration. I will definitely draw from some of these ideas when I make art. Especially the permission note. Lots of love see u in the next video. 😊💕
thank you so much for sharing your words of wisdom and magic!
Totally enjoyed🩷
I've always called it a sketchbook, each time I saw your posts on facebook I kept telling myself I needed to start art journaling. I think art journaling tells more of a story and a sketchbook is for doing sketch's, it is for me not sure about others. Thank you for another great video Wendy, sending lots of positive energy your way.
I really love your painting technique in your sketchbook. You are loose and free and don't try to "control" the medium. Very nice, Wendy!
I try but I have my tight days too!! xx
Brilliant vlog - thank you Wendy 🎉
While watching this video I had a break thru with my inktense pencils and how I was working in my sketchbooks. I realized I had become too precious in my books and immediately did a wash to obliterate the painting I was working on. There is nothing like ruing a painting and working it back out to loose preciousness. HA! Many thx Wendy and your caring words to us. They obviously push thru barriers of many sorts.
Loved this one Wendy!! So wonderful for all of us that you decided to create such a wonderful community 🤗
I learned wonderful things today, definitely going to be making some permission slips for myself, always the biggest take away for me when you put up a video is how important it is to be kind and gentle with ourselves..not taught to a lot of us as we were growing up. Love and blessings to you and your family ✨🥰✨
I sometimes will pre-paint pages with a wash of color left over from a painting session. This gives me a jumping off point for a new spread and no fear of the white page.
Wonderful suggestion, thanks
Thankyou so much for this video and helping me become unstuck!!!! Im just about to embark on an Adventure and was deciding what art supplies to bring. I have a few 'ideas books' with blank pages and as I was watching this video it helped me to understand where I'm at and enabled me to give myself permission to become unstuck. thank you xox
😁 Thanks to you Wendy
Hi Wendy I’ve just found your channel lv Ann ❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧
welcome aboard, thanks for coming over ! xx
Sending lots of aloha your way!🥰🌺🧚♀️✨️
Thank you very much for your suggestions. I will explore. 😊
Thank you so much for this lovely video. Thank you for the permission slip! I’m a newbie to watercolor, 1.5 yrs… so I’m still trying to find myself, but I love everything about this process ❤
happy creating, just keep painting!! xxx
I LOVEEE your sketches. Also, I love how you set up the video. Love it, love it, love it!
Lovely video. Thank you.
I love how you are sketching self portraits!!!
You always have a handy model ❤
Ohh love the colors you've used on your girls! It was amazing seeing how all those layers turned out soo gorgeous!!🎉❤❤
thank you Wendy, I can't begin to tell you how much this has helped me and excited me!
