Just the trick I have needed for a long time.. thinning the glass fiber bondo with the liquid resin. Sometimes I really do need the fiber filler ( we custom build and restore large speaker systems and waveguides) I always struggle with the thick viscosity of it, and 'dragging' of the fibers. I did try regular bondo once as a 'thinner', but it did not help one bit. THANKS for showing this tip. I can see it really makes the fiber filler easy to control and spread thin.
This is the first time I've ever seen y'all I don't know how you got pulled up on my device but I enjoyed listening to your reasoning vision your dreams having a trusting partner to help make them come alive , very nice . I don't know a thing about filling fiberglass or body work but I just started this past weekend cleaning up and get running again 1990 GMC K1500 4x4 stepside it needs a paint job the bed is fiberglass it has some damage . I will subscribe and will be watching Chad and Jolene. I don't know what your working on but I've never seen anything like it , it's definitly different.
Back in the day they had what was called the mother-in-law seat, which was usually away from the driver compartment. With watching this build and the nostalgia of this build, it would be interesting if Mr. Chad and Jolene created a mother-in-law compartment/seat area where the hood area is with rap around window paneling on the sides of the hood and than place a very large beautiful show case blown motor in the rear. I love the creativity and the process, nothing but respect for the art you create!
When I do body filler work on a rounded area such as the fender area, I take a hax saw blade and use it as. a finishing sweep, from the door to the tail light. Gives me a super finished look. Hax saw blade will give a super finish look as blade will bend to the round shape of body panel. Very little sanding to remove any excess filler.
I like how you mentored Aiden and he will remember that for the rest of his life. I hope he comes back on your crew. I look forward to your show every day.
Just to add to Chad discussion on why you would use fiberglass as a seam filler lets say instead of Bondo after you weld a seam. You use fiberglass mainly for waterproofing plus it helps strengthen the seam. Plus it helps you not have to grind out the welds as much and it fills the mynute cracks and fills the lows between the welds, which will help give you a smooth seam. It's all fun and games when your done applying fiberglass filler then you got to bring out the sander and start sanding, that when it starts to suck.. LOL
I love watching you work and the vehicles you create. Anytime you need a hand I'd come up for a couple weeks to help you out, during the summer of course. Just being able to work beside you is enough pay for me. Hope to see a season 3 but I'm sure it's all about making a living. Be Well ya'll
Thank you for sharing the trick of adding the poly resin to the Fiberglass Bondo! I’m going to definitely try that next time. You guys are working hard to show us all what you love to do. Thanks!
Looking great! I love that you're able to direct your life in the direction you feel, at the time! The creative freedom is a great luxury and very inspiring!
Although I was suprised to see you working on the cab-over it's always a change of pace to spread mud ! The one great thing about reducing it down with resin is that it helps with pinholes as well as makes it easier to sand and spread. Have you tried the metal cut-off wheels to cut metal ? I've heard they do work but takes a little go get used to. They'd be cheaper than buying a hand bandsaw but, if they don't work or work too slow then I don't know if they'd be worth it. I think it'd be worth a try though jst to see even at the $10.00ish price they cost. Well I really like the chop of the 35 and think it will make a cool race car ! Is it a drag, roundy round or ???? Good luck with it. It will look pretty cool getting towed behind the cab-over !
Man, that back bump on the coupe screws the whole project up. The creation would be more integrated without it. Now it looks like 1 car on top of the other.
Keep up the good work you two, I love how fast this is actually moving along. I’ve seen much simpler projects take some people much much much longer than this. You definitely have an eye for seeing the diamond in the rough and it’s already amazing.
The channel continues to grow. Chad and Jolene are doing great things. Each day is a lesson worth the effort you 2 put into them. Keep up the good work.
@@severinappleton3438 most shops use a wand that they insert in cavities where nothing can be used to add rust protection, but in reality most of this cars are already very rusty in those cavities like rocker panels. You can still use the wand but spray oil based products in their ,just to prolong the rust from creating more damage, its a yearly maintance.but in reality no one has time for that,or forget about it till its to late.
Love your Frankinstien big guys toy's! Just lov'em! Chad your are an artist! Can't wait to see this one dress up! Thanks to your wife filming, great job!
Hey Jolene, can you ask Chad to explain, maybe again in an upcoming video, the reason for leaving the door locks in place? Thank you and I'm absorbing everything. Chad's a great educator. As I get older the more I work smarter, rather than harder. Have built 20 or more cars myself; long ago lost track, but this guy, Chad, has schooled me.
I truly enjoy your videos but I really enjoy your wisdom on life. I have been looking over all your old videos and you are an upstanding guy. I encourage everyone to watch the video of your talk at the school. Good job. Enjoying from Alaska
Glad you had some Birthday Fun, now another change of pace. Your meathod of filling the welds is such a smart technique. Something to remember when I do another build someday. You guys are my daily inspiration just to get doing, going to work, hang around house puttering or just go for a cruise. Thank you.
I’m very glad you got the sign. I’ve had that thing for a long time…finally found someone who would give it a good home. Enjoy!
