Respect to you Isata for the lovely beautiful wise talented kind person you are!! Wish you and your beautiful siblings every success you hope to achieve. Hats off to your mum and dad for their excellent upbringing! Very very impressive indeed
If of all the millions of UA-cam videos there are, there was just ONE I would wish my beloved children to view and listen to, for the sake of their children, THIS would be that one. This star outshines the rest.
Thank you Isata! You are indeed a great success! By igniting that spark of classical music to your siblings from the age of 9. Your whole families success is yours! I hope you know that you are inspiring all little girls and boys all over the world....and old girls like me too! I wish you continued success ! Love from New York, by way of BIRMINGHAM in the Midlands, by way of JAMAICA!!!
You need have no misgivings about speaking in public - you are eloquent and very engaging, which makes you easy to listen to. And what a marvellous topic - your wonderful family of musicians. Thank you all for the exquisite pleasure of hearing you perform.
What a lovely, inspirational young woman you are Isata. You speak so eloquently with great conviction. I wish you every success in the future. Ps., I am currently three quarters through your mum's new book .. House of Music... a fascinating story of a wonderful families determination to succeed. Love and happiness to the Kanneh - Masons.
Beautiful and inspiring speech Isata. We are so so proud of you in Sierra Leone. Congrats and best wishes. Your grand dad Uncle Bernard also loved music I was told and music is loved in the Kanneh family. Thanks for being able to show the world how powerful music is and that West Africa is rich in Talents. Your Aunty Mariama Konneh Zombo
You are a beautiful person and so talented, and I think you are a wonderful role model for many many young people of all races. You must have wonderful parents, and they must be so proud of you all. I wish you the very best that life has to offer - love, happiness, and many happy successes.
Just like you wanted to go to the very best place to study music, you chose the very best music to pursue. You will soon be at the top of the musical world!
It's wonderful what you all do. One small comment, acknowledge what your first teacher did for you; they gave you your initial love for music so most likely were indeed " proper lessons" before RAM and you would have gone nowhere without that. I speak as a 4th generation music teachers. Teachers of beginners are under-rated but it requires just as much expertise as advanced pupils and massively more work! Also I personally think you are a winner, that competition is just that, a glimpse of what you create. You have enspired many of my black pupils who share your/my passion for Art music and clearly believe in themselves more (and other people believe more) from your families example.
Hi Isata, you are a success in the music world, because you are only 17 years old, and you have placed in the finals already of an international competition. That is quite remarkable. If you are entering an international competition like the BBC expect to find competitors older than yourself. It is these older ones - usually in their 20's, mid or upper 20's - that win these competitions. Some of them come back for a second time, before they actually win. You need, over the course of a few years , to compete in many more competitions - some in the US. You may come first in some, and in others just make the finals. Be aware that there are very good artists with careers already established, that do not even get beyond the semi-finals. Competitions are many times unfair and unpredictable. Visibility and perseverance many times is the most important thing. YOU NEED TO BE A LITTLE OLDER, AND ENTER MANY MORE COMPETITIONS BEFORE YOU CAN GET A REALISTIC APPRAISAL OF YOURSELF. HOWEVER BE ENCOURAGED. I BELIEVE THAT YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A CONCERT PIANIST WITHIN TIME. ALSO JUST PUT GOD IN THE FOREFRONT. FROM EXPERIENCE, I KNOW IT WORKS.
