Scotch It! You scotch gods.
I’ve met the owner a few times. She is in Napa California and is going to come on my channel. I gave a bottle of this to Jason Whisky Wise and Roy (Aqvavitae) during my trip last June.
Nice Erik!
Karen came to our store to represent her product. She is very nice and has an interesting story behind her whisky. It has a great nose and is very approachable on the palate. Its not to complex and the abv makes it an easy sipper. I think this bottle is great to introduce new whisky drinkers or just to have around as a daily drinker. Great review.
awesome! thanks keith.
I got turned onto this by a sales rep at a local store and was so pleasantly surprised. I always keep a bottle of SIA on my shelf now 👍
It's a nicely balanced and friendly easy sipper. The price doesn't hurt either (usually $35 at Twin Liquors).
agreed!
Bought this Scotch because Sia is also my Wife's name...Thank you Karen...love the name
very nice, thanks manoj!
Wow, it's great to be back, watching your videos again, trying to get caught up. I go back to where I left off and I watch every one (and I click "thumbs up" on every one so far... because you guys are great!) I did get to see one of your live broadcasts from Scotland... that was really cool. I hope you tell us about all of your adventures. Cheers!
welcome back Raster!
I've always wondered about this bottle and now I know the story behind it😊 Sounds like nice easy blended malt sipper with some delicious complexity! Great review, gents, cheers!
Thanks Richie...Sia
Erik Wait gifted this to me last summer, I realise I haven't opened or tried it yet and I didn't know the full back story, although he mentioned some of it last year. I thought it was a blend. 😳
Now curious how the name can about!
Thanks Roy, open it and give it a taste!
I could not imagine a better reason for starting a whisky company...
Boom. We agree
Just wonder if the SIA bottling was only for those who invested in the kick starter campaign. Who ever did the blending must have been masterful so that these different regions were balanced instead of fighting each other. I see there has been a return to the original exit which I like because it is true to the character of the Scotch Test Dummies. Cheers to the best drams!
it is available to the public Mose, not sure which markets. We're still trying to decide on the exit.
Nice relatively short (and manly) TEST IT ! Thank you Bart.
Lol. Had a little growl in there
Proud owner of 271 it’s being put to work on a willet 4 year tonight and planning on a bookers rye pour for game of thrones Sunday :) cheers!
BOOM
Sounds tasty and I believe it’s in my local store, think I will pick this one up soon. Well done guys. 🥃
thanks JK.
Good review. I think the price is outstanding and is where starter companies should start. Too high and they might not land the repeat customer. Congrats to them. :0)
Good point SDDude
It’s a great value.
it is!
I was lucky enough to have the Sia people show up at Total Wine and got a free taste. Now this was about a year ago, now I know my palette has changed since then, so i might consider checking out a bottle down the line. It's good, but I think for a new whiskey, the 45-50 price point was a bit much for it. I'd like to see new entries in the market at a bit lower of a price.
I've sent a lot of people to the Tomatin 12 year based on this exact issue. The lower price point is nice for new whisky drinkers. bart
Back to the old conclusion? I was getting used to the "toast'' style ending.
we're still trying to decide on it.
@@ScotchTestDummies Maybe save the "toast" style closing for 'milestone' or when you have special guests, or when you are 'on location', reviews while sticking with the regular closing for the rest.
we'll explore options!
If SIA is the first bottling might I suggest L8TR as the second batch? It works on so many levels! Put the 2 batches side by side, whaddya get? The whole story, that's what! LOL. Cheers! 🥃
it should be Leigh Tur.
For statistical purposes, 12k subs. Congrats you Scotch Gods! ..... calling Bart childish... the nerve that bozo has 😂
haha thanks patrick!
Hey Scott & Bart. Nice video, only my name isn't on the Scotch Gods outro. Still supporting you guys. 😉
Carl Van Walleghem oops, Bart has an old slide! Will get him the new one!
@@ScotchTestDummies. Don't worry, Scott ! Happy Easter ! 😉
we'll fix it! Happy Easter to you!
I had seen this whisky in some other places. Glad you guys were able to de a review. I doubt that this will make it across the pond? Ps: some feedback on the readability of the patrons. I am 45 and seeing smallish print is giving me issues ;) ... hehehe. If at all possible could you increase the font size? :)
we do need to make it into two slides Rombout.
Sounds interesting. I could likely guess what's in it with out tasting it. LOL
thanks eric!
We need an intervention. Bart's manga shirts with cowgirl hats are getting out of control. We need to bring him back to whisky before he ends up on a wine cooler review you-tube channel.
And I just found three more Manga shirts for the show. YES!
It's worse then I thought....the manga disease is multiplying.
Stay away from the Zima, take 2 whiskeys and call me in the morning.
Scott agrees.
SeeYa sounds real interesting and our TW&M in Myrtle Beach has it for $44. Like that bottle shape and story. Any info on the origin of that name = SIA? Did you solve that riddle?? Bart didn't tell the guy he was irritating with that, "Sure, sure, sure..."?? Cheers!!
we think we solved it DJ, that's all that counts.
Sia must be speyside Islay and hmm...a-land..no? Anyways great review, that bottle got my attention. Looks good.
I like the concept?
Sia... seeya... hey, you two ought to be detectives.
boom!
you should compare this to JW black label.
this is much better!
I like the music that goes with your scotch reviews. That bottle sounds good. Around here Maker's Mark 46 is in the mid $40's.
Thanks Loren. Dan Pancaldi is our Canadian music man...You can see his show (board games) at No Enemies Here...He also does musical interludes there.
Did I miss score? If so what would you score it?
Scott was a 90/91 i think and Bart an 89.
@@ScotchTestDummies I re-watched, Bart went on about tasting notes after and then the love note to Bart. I missed it, sorry!
Does this have distribution though out the U.S.?
not sure where it's available. We have not seen it in Kansas. Will have to check on that.
Seen it in Illinois
Why call out the numbers of your lids? I can't figure
because we sell them and then someone ends up with them at home saying "thats my coin!" Not everyone gets a show coin though, we can't keep up with demand!
Scotch Test Dummies Oh. Okay. So if I purchased your coins I could possibly end up with one that you guys used on a show
Exactly!
Bart I like your style, don't change anything. Tell that a-hole that thinks you're boorish, watch another channel. Or just tell him to go to hell!
haha thanks Guy!
Is this a "Blended Malt" or a "Blended Scotch" ? Oops never mind just looked it up yes it has grain Whisky in it. Close in price to all malt blend 15 or 18 year old blended Scotch so no thanks.
Label says "Blended Scotch Whisky"
I’ve been incredibly sceptical about this product... I’ve been continually pushed to like and follow their Instagram for over a year now... it’s not available in Canada. “First American woman to make Scotch Whisky” nonsense... I did not know about their Kickstarter mind you. Based on their Instagram, there is absolutely no information about the whisky other than the self proclaimed “96 Points” which means absolutely nothing. It’s a Blended Scotch, which means what you read off their website is disingenuous, since it seems to be suggesting it’s a blend of Malts from those three regions. 43% is better than 40%, but there’s no age statement, and is likely artificially coloured, based on the look of it. I’m glad to hear this one was a pleasant surprise for you, but it still sounds incredibly underwhelming, and I can’t see how a product like this would seem attractive to the Kickstarter community... I mean, think about it, Dummies - if we were kickstarting to fund a whisky blend, we’d be attempting to create a quality, true craft presented whisky, not some generic mass market product. Congratulations to Carin for her apparent success, I hope she’s happy with the money she has made, but despite your seeming to like it, I don’t think this is a whisky for us. Just my opinion.
So you're saying its similar to many Douglas Laing, Compass Box, or Johnnie Walker blended NAS scotch whiskies? Needless, it exceeded expectations especially for the price range its in.
I checked the website it says...
50% Speyside
40% Highland
10% Islay
40%:60% High Malt:Grain Ratio
86 PROOF - 43% ABV
I am not sure where the grain comes from in that split.
thanks Captain.
Captain 3D okay, cool... so they are breaking it down pretty specifically. That’s good.
Scotch Test Dummies I found her Kickstarter video, and see now that the goal wasn’t to make a whisky for whisky lovers, it was to make something approachable to people who maybe don’t think they would enjoy Scotch. Based on your description, it sounds like she was quite successful. I was just looking at it the wrong way. Sláinte, Dummies.
