Just to let everyone here know, James was a tremendous help in showing me where I was making a rookie mistake in my scan setups, to wit, I somehow had mixed the filters for ALL OF THE FOLLOWING with ANY OF THE FOLLOWING, causing it to basically lock up. James, to go from watchlist to chart you place a link column in watchlist, pick a number/color and then put that same number/color on your chart link. Then you can click that link in the column send to.

Now I can make 312, 212, 122, combos and make them alert/text me during the day while at day job. Again thank you so much. -For the follow up reader wondering. To make a scan/watchlist alert and text make sure the program has your cell number then run the scan you want to watch.. On the "Search Results" all the way to then click the three lines and youll see the "Alert when scan results change" Thats it you have an alerting maybe even texting watchlist based on whatever you want.

Wanted to see if I can return a bit of the favor by helping you... you mentioned that you didn't know how to go from the scan items directly to the chart - one of the things you can add to the layout of the chart is the 'Send to' option (e.g., 'Send to [3] Blue', which will send that symbol to charts linked to 3/Blue.) Just right-click on one of the column heading in the search results and select 'Customize', then add whichever 'Send to' you prefer. I like having a mini-chart in the same column as my watchlists so I can see the result immediately. Thanks again, and I hope you find this useful!
James Im not sure if someone mentioned it, but I saw another tutorial like this and several people who are STRAT students said that the inside or the outside does not include equals to.. It is greater or lesser than but that equals negates it being an inside or outside... great videos and thank you again

Thank you for this. I've been using TrendSpider but I don't like the idea of not being able to alert certain stocks when a strat pattern is hit in real-time the moment it happens. Creating this is great.
To go from scan to charts, go to customize column and you can add a link to "color", like [1] RED, so it will populate on chart once you click on color tab. Also once scan is done, you can detach gadget and pin it to the side and scroll the results. cheers!
Beautiful work James. Thank you for sharing this. According to ToS high level trade desk, proper scan using the flip is not currently a thing at ToS. Effective Strat IS at least a two person job.
Yes your ToS charts can start new bars on the flip … but I don’t know how to change the scan engine to work off bars drawn on the flip. Of course this Doesn’t really change anything on Mo, Wk, Day charts.
hey James great video. the markings over the candles such as the hats you created and the arrows. how did you get those to appear over the top of the candlesticks? IF possible you should do a quick video on how did you do that. instead can you make those numbers such as the 1 candlestick 2 or 3? thanks in advance

Thanks for taking the time to make this. Are your hourly scans using xx:30 as the start of the candles? I think Rob calls it the Flip. For some reason, my scans based on the hourly are using xx:00 as the start of the candle whether or not I have EXT checked.
Lucas Schlecht yes I have same problem on hourly scans. My charts use the flip xx:30 to display bars, but the scan engine uses hourlies that start at xx:00. I haven’t figure out how to change scan engine to use the flip. Maybe not possible.

James, I'm confused. I've followed your video exactly and doublechecked it twice, but I am not getting the 3-1 results, running the scan today (Sunday, Mar 20) for inside bars last week (offset 0), preceded by an outside bar a week before that (offset 1). Most of the weekly results I'm getting are 2-2s. I got completely out of the scan, came back and ran it again, no luck. Please help!

I'd setup a watch list, then go through the list and create a price level above and below, then right click on that price level and click "Create alert with drawing" and where it says "Crosses below" just change that to "Crosses" and set your alert details down below the Preview.

on TOS, you can run a scan for any candle pattern you like. click on Patterns and check the box for hammer, and run scan.

Yes you can code a scan to find any setup or any actionable signal on any timeframe using this technique

Yeah me too. For some reason I need to re-save the results from second scan. Then new results show up in the Watchlist.
I think this problem has been fixed in ToS. I no longer have to manually run scans in order to update the scan watchlist results
How do I look at multiple time frames like on one ticker instead of individually changing every single one in the flexible grid tab?
Link it all charts as one number/color.. its next to the ticker box
Call me crazy, but my two down, two up weekly scan seems to produce the scan with the highest number of potentially good setups. Is this normal?
Do you scan through sp500 or russell 1000 or your own custom watchlist for potential 2D 2U plays?
