I am loving your channel! A friend of mine recommended Assistant because she said it reminded her of Between by L.L. Starling which is one of my favorite books. And maybe that raised my expectations too high, but I was so disappointed by Assistant. I wanted to love it, and it had so much potential! But it felt more like a second draft; it needed more editing and a lot more plot and character development to be truly special. And I agree that the motive for the big twist was incomprehensible. Even though fantasy rom-com is my favorite genre, I probably won't pick up the sequel because I just didn't feel connected to the characters or plot.
Anna here - Between is such a lovely story!!! I 100% agree. Assistant had so much potential and felt like it needed more editing to fully deliver. I’m so glad to find someone else who loves Between though. So many people are intimidated by the size but it’s truly the funniest thing I’ve ever read!

I'm devastated that more people aren't raving about Between especially when many of the popular books in the same genre (I'm looking at you, Assistant!) aren't nearly as funny or enchanting. It *is* big, but it's essentially two books in one, and I wish more people would look past the size because what's inside is just magical. I absolutely love this channel and I can't wait to see what else you and Sabrina review!

It’s so interesting that your comments about the romance are kinda the same thing she’s does with the tiktok series. She builds and builds and builds with the characters but always seems to find a reason for the characters to never discuss their feelings.
Do you think the Tiktok series is necessary for reading the book? We are wondering if that would help us have a better understanding of the plot. We still want to know why she makes that choice though, because it feels a little forced to not talk about the feelings.
