its the only one well made, League of legends suck dicks with his gold and feeding system, tons of autistic heroes without any reason to exist, and Dota is so fucking hard in terms of farming and has the same problem with feeding in early game

@@dontreadmyname4396 DOTA I feel offers the "complexity" people crave & LOL offers tons of niche off the wall hero designs and more focus on fighting than the others. HoTs was fantastic for those of us who only wanted to play 15-21 minute games and have something fun and competitive VS the 45-hour long games of other MOBA's that revolved around farming & economy.

    • @ArgentumEmperio
      @ArgentumEmperio 5 років тому +2

Eh, you probably don't like MOBAs in that case to put it simply.
Plenty of folks say that they enjoy MOBAs or at least want to but stick to Heroes of the Storm which... yes, it is a MOBA that is true... but it doesn't have any depth to it, runs on the Starcraft engine (famously known for being one of the worst gamiing engines to date) and repeatedly have to redesign many of their core maps which indicate that it isn't well balanced.
To put it bluntly: I am not saying this to mock you or anyone who enjoys it... but there's probably a reason why one enjoys this MOBA and have no interest in learning other ones which have none of the issues stated above.

It's sad that this happened the day that I was gonna start devoting more time to get better and climb higher, but now I feel all that motivation is gone, and I'm sure many other people will say the same.
I haven't been part of this community for very long, but I feel so bad for everyone who bust their ass to get to where they are, just for it all to crumble anyway.
In the likely event that you may leave the HotS community for some other community or for grander purposes, I wish you best of luck in any pursuit. Your content helped shape a lot of players and built a very friendly, educative and professional environment.

Truly sad, I actually got into HotS from stumbling upon an HGC game on the twitch front page. I've never liked moba games in general until HotS, and that game I saw on HGC. There are so many great people around the HGC that I love, and support with all I can. This is really a big heart break, never thought I'd get this emotionally sad over an esport stopping. However! My support shall continue to every single individual that was apart of the HGC. Just as I said in the opening line. Its just a truly sad day for everyone involved, and the fans who really love the scene. Just at a lost for words now. Things are always darkest before the dawn, lets hope that dawn comes soon.

I quit HotS at the beginning of the year, since I didn't really like the direction it was going and wasn't enjoying HL, but watching HGC was still a thing I looked forward to on weekends.
I think this BlizzCon/post-BlizzCon fiasco (including the Diablo news in this) has really proven that Blizzard is no longer the company it used to be, not even close.
I wish you and all the teams the best for the future - I might have given up on the game a while ago, but it still fucking sucks to see such a good community of people simply tossed aside like this.

It seems rather short-sighted by J Allen Brack not to consider alternative ways to fund HGC... I mean SC2 has Battlechests. They were supposed to partner with Red Bull last year when they released the Deckard Cain patch. Just seems like the new CEO is way out of touch and not really in control of his company. I mean a good CEO would figure out a way to grow a property, bad CEOs do what this kind of stuff.

No game or community can ever replace what HotS meant to me. Climbed all the way from Silver to Diamond, near Master and felt so great to have been making a lot of progress lately. Started out playing very casually, did not think MOBA's were really my thing and I grew to absolutely love the game. I loved watching HGC and looked forward to it every weekend. We weren't the largest community but it was clear that the playerbase was sustainable and we were very patient with changes throughout. This sudden abandonment was absolute bull shit, and my heart goes out to those who's lives were completely built around this amazing game.

This is a wake up call to ALL eSports players that play a Blizzard game, not just HotS. If Blizzard feels like their game isn't showing "growth" cutting the eSports scene for that game is now an option and it CAN come with absolutely no warning. WoW Arena, HS, Overwatch could easily be in this same position in a couple years. The Korean scene is the only thing keeping SC afloat. This is a huge hit to Blizzard eSports in general and what sponsor is going to want to invest in a Blizzard based eSports team when announcements like this can come completely without warning. 2 months ago Blizzcon made it seem like this game had a bright future, new content, new features, etc. 2 months later and here we are. I feel terrible for the HotS community and all the other communities shouldn't ignore this because this could be them soon enough. Its hard enough for these eSports players to deal with the pressures of competing but now they have to deal with the pressures of having anything to compete in.

Feeling real stupid now being that HGC 2018 was constantly hailed as their "biggest season yet" like yeah no duh it's the biggest one; it also turned out to be the *LAST* one so let's at least go out with a bang...
I love HOTS to pieces. I've trained my skills in it religiously since 2015 and this current event (Toys) is my favorite of all time. The childlike wonder and amazement it fills me with; the sheer joy I felt knowing that I'm just as excited to play HOTS as The Kid is to mess around with his toys....instantly soured in the most cynical way possible. It's like trying to enjoy a video game and hearing your parents argue about getting divorced in the other room (another thing I've actually experienced). You try to ignore it and escape in the game world for a while but reality just destroys you. Knowing that my duo and I will never be able to attend HGC Championships at Blizzcon actually made me cry a little bit. "We'll make it next year, heck yeah let's go watch HGC live next year!" It's the fact that this signals lower commitment from Blizzard, and also that decision was probably driven by relatively low user base (compared to their other games and relative to cost to maintain). When both player base and company commitment are low, it is difficult to imagine how the game will grow. This seems to be indicating a slow decline for the game - what I have come to call a death spiral. Additionally, the removal of the pro scene and the way pros were led to believe that HGC would continue up until this latest news, this has really dampened the enthusiasm of the most committed players and even casuals who watched them. Blizzard has to have though about the possibility of all of this beforehand, so all signs are only pointing in one direction, and it is not up.

This game pretty much killed all the love I had for Blizzard. I've been following Blizzard all the way back since Blackthorne, Warcraft I and The Lost Vikings. I've bought and played almost every single game they ever made besides World of Warcraft. Coming from League of Legends in which I got to top 16 in the world (when there was only the NA server) and quitting after two years because the community was toxic and Riot games absolute trash, it was with a breath of fresh air that I moved to HotS.
However the report system and the way the game is conducted just makes you never want to say jack shit in chat or actually care, so for someone who is incredibly competitive as me, I felt the game just wasn't it. Reporting did nothing unless you get mass reported so people can say the most, inconsiderate ludicrous shit to you, you take videos and screenshots, present it to Blizzard staff and they do absolutely nothing. I spent over 3000€ in this game I have pretty much everything ever released but if I report someone who calls me a shit eating faggot and hopes I die from cancer and the staff tells me "just report them, what do you want me to do?" it's pretty shitty.
Added to this there was the Activision takeover, Destiny 2 being a joke, the Diablo announcement and I suddenly, after all this shit I just thought... this isn't the Blizzard I loved once anymore.
I'm glad I quit this game like 4 months ago when the queues in Master League were almost an hour at times. Still sad to see it go.

Also for the players they just released a massive change that players aren't going to know how to respond to. We would look to the pros to know how to play these changes and now its just going to linger and make the game terrible.

Now that this is ALL gone, whats gonna happen to the player base? Whats going to happen to all the content creators and all the people that helped to build up the HoTS community? Whats going to happen to all the esports players and all other players that was wanting to strive to become an esports player for HoTS by putting an ungodly amount of hours into the game just so they can learn all team comps and positioning and everything else...whats going to happen to them? Its going to slowly, but surely....vanish...its just gone and we'll be left with some shell or husk of a game we used to love and enjoy and the only thing that will be left is the small remaining dedicated fans that will be incredibly upset because their favorite game is now no longer being washed...its just left there to get dirty, nasty, & burnt up in the hot sun, never to be driven down to Walmart to just pick up a few groceries. it'll just be sitting behind the house rotting under that pine tree so that the sap falls on it and gets sticky and becomes more grotesque. I understand that they will STILL have a few of the remaining DEV's but the foreseeable future...idk...doesn't look good... :(

Hearthstone and WOW will survive because they're based around money. (I still appreciate their devs) fuck activision, however, at the same time... I can't say i'm at all surprised it failed, but i'm really sorry for all the people who attempted to show faith in blizz by choosing HotS instead of a proper game like dota, cs, league etc. Blizz has shown recently that loyalty and their original fanbase mean nothing to them.

@@eldrstarsong4085 What you call the "boring grindy" bits are what make the games interesting and tense in dota2 and why the viewership of the international and the yearly prize fund continue to grow each year. The main reason people call it boring is because they don't understand what's going on, and rather than try to learn WHY it's a big deal that the enemy team just stole a 5 stacked ancient camp, they go "pfft just more farming BOOOORED NOW". Even if you just base it on kills though and have no understanding or interest in the actual economics of the game, Dota 2 is still the highest kill count game of the main bunch, with hots and lol both being REALLY slow most of the time as far as actual kills go. You say hots takes out the boring parts but i say in reply that without any of the depth or complexity of the other games, HotS's ENTIRE game is boring, which is why nobody watches it and it failed as an esport.

    • @JustDoIt12131
      @JustDoIt12131 5 років тому +1

@@NateTheScot The depth or complexity is just different.
In LoL it's the last-hit farm system + gold/items system.
In HOTS it's the dynamic map objectives system + experience/talents system.
In my opinion the second combination is better for these reasons:
      - The last-hit system is absolutely unintuitive and illogic: in war what matters is that the enemies die, it doesn't matter who gives the final blows. And of course it makes no sense that you can only loot the enemy's money if you give the final blow, like it magically disappeared if you don't.
      - The last-hit system is redundant because to kill enemies is a benefit itself, you don't need to add a second benefit to make you look forward to kill enemies. It only causes snowball effect for no reason. The same happens with experience system in HOTS, but less pronounced because talents are not as powerful as items.
      - The last-hit system makes the micro game(combat) unnatural because with that system you have to try to give the higher amount of final blows(to minions) instead of trying to deal the highest damage to the enemy power as a whole. Many times when you could use an attack to hit a lot of minions and a player at the same time, you cannot do that because the minions have a concrete amount of HP that would turn into almost 0 and your minions would give a lot of last-hits, meaning that you lose a lot of money.
      - The last-hit system makes the macro game(global strategy) artificially static because the players get much more benefit from taking up lanes than just kill enemies or destroy buildings, wich diminish the benefit of more dynamic strategies than just filling every lane with players. The same happens with experience system in HOTS, but less pronounced because you can kill minions without last-hit carefulness and therefore you can rotate more frecuently.

I guess instead of defending and praising the game players who "loved the game" should have brought the flaws, even the ones they tried to deny were clearly there, to attention to be fixed. The game was medicated on new heroes, maps, cosmetics, and such. You guys got the game you wanted and you guys got the outcome you deserve. The game is still alive tho, so chill.... just without the Esports it didn't deserve. Funny how people turned on it now just cause the crutch of Esports making it appear to be better then it is ... is gone. Its not that i hate Heroes, i been in love with it since Alpha, but its problems grew just too much to stomach. I went from so many games played to being unable to stand to play more then a few matches... just waiting for real fixes to roll out, but they never came.
I don't hate the game, but it IS equally frustrating as it is fun. Game mechanics like rejoining and NO match ready check BEFORE entering lobby is gross. The newest Moba with crappier design. League of Legends doesn't punish people in queue cause some person is afk; the person afk gets kicked and the non-afk get thrown back into their position in queue. Hero balancing is fking awful and more awful since Overwatch introduced is High mobile heroes. And don't ever use the excuse of focusing someone with cc and burning them... cause the same can be done to your team and even prevented with stupid abilities like Medivh. Match making can't balance, because its impossible to balance. Warrior class can mean a dozen different actual specializations. Its one thing to have strength and weaknesses then another to be FLAT OUT STOMPED by someone in the same role.
The game isn't as good as people would like to believe and Blizzard just told you so. If it was actually even good fun it would have pulled the players in rather then having them quitting. Its not the end tho, just for Heroes Esports... and that Dorm thing. While I am loving it... i do wish the game made a huge comeback, but Devs don't have a clue nor will you help give it to them.

I'm so sorry for what's happened here. I don't really follow the esports side of HotS but I know that this has devastated people who deserve so much better. I feel like we're witnessing the death of Blizzard at the hands of Activision and I am fully boycotting anything Activision from now on.

I never was much into HotS, but I've respected their proplayers and their stories, victories and so on. I hope this won't bring you down, man, you will be able to switch. Blizzard really fucked you all guys in competetive scene without any lubrication.

If you watch MFPallytime video on this, it seems that the communication was non-existent internally at Blizzard as well. This is really just Acitivision putting their foot down and cancelling everything Blizzard wanted to do. Sucks. But we all knew it could only go downhill after Activision acquired Blizzard. :(

Why is the game dead if there is no competitive scene? I plan on still playing HOTS even though there is no competitive HOTS

This is absolutley fucking horrible news! I dont play this game anymore due to lootboxes and other things. But even as a esports fan, this is horrible! All the best Kala and others. I hope you find something to solve this situation!

HGC and Esport in this game is synthetic. Alpha and Beta was best time of HotS for common players.

You buried your head in the sand. I've been a plat pleb for over a year and a half, qm for 2, and I knew this game was going down the shitter the moment they refused to address the reporting problem. You could notice a substantial drop in the number of players around that time - and Blizzard refused to address it, streamers refused to put pressure on them. I honestly don't feel bad for anyone affected by the death of HotS, in fact I actively wished it upon Blizzard. Their arrogance is hilarious, and only dwarfed by their incompetence.

Blizzard could have lowered the budget for HGC and gradually phased it out, but no they just stopped. Put loads of people out of work, no where for the pros to go. I loved HGC, it was what football is to a football fan only much much better. I really hope that another company run a competitive HotS pro league, like it used to be part of the ESL, but I don't think it will happen :(

Thank you for what you did Kala, I learned a lot from your content. I uninstalled HotS hearing this news coz without HGC, this game doesn't have any interest. Good luck for your futur challenges. Peace man
