the 2024 steelers season, 1st HUGE DECISION, which has to be figured out prior to 6/1(as this is the last date a player can be released and recoup the salary adjustment between the dead cap and the actual salary)....the steelers need a solid answer from cam if he is going to honor his ridiculous but fair(because it was a signed contract) salary and play in 2024 and that depending on how his play and team performance is, then a solid contract can be worked out for 25/26...seems like cam wants the money before putting in the work, which isn't how successful organizations have worked...it's a rather huge decision but how this plays out will tell you a lot about how 2024 is going to work out

if kahn is the artist, that we have anointed him as, the MOVE HE HAS TO MAKE is release CAM before 6/1 to save that 16 million dollars(cam 24 salary is 22 million and his dead cap hit is 6 million)....this move will be a huge season decision that has to be made in the next 8 days and yes, i would rather have heyward playing in a steeler uniform in 2024, even with that 22 million dollar salary, but if he is going to hold out now(even though it is just voluntary), i could easily see him pulling a l. bell move and sit this season(and 1 thing i can guarantee you is that whether it's 2024, 25 or 26, no other team in the nfl is going to give cam heyward 22 million or more, i would go as far as to say that no other team would give him anything north of 15 million)....love how in his last podcast with the guest being deebo, he asked deebo what he found to be one of the biggest problems with the current steeler team, deebo's response was that it seems to him that most of the players aren't in this as a collective, like brother's it would seem that they are kind of out their for themselves and the entire time, heyward is kind of agreeing with him....ask cam if this wouldn't be an exact example of that....
As fan yes would love another game but I think players need 3rd preseason game for their exposure and conditioning look how injuries are up taking 1 pre game away you can add another game and keep 3 preseason so it’s another week added on fans sure will not complain to me add another and add the 4th back so SB is mid or end of February who cares have guys get better conditioning with 4 who cares if Super Bowl is later fans will love longer season

i would say overall i'm a cam fan, but if he is going to be this "bullish" over his contract, the steelers need to sit down with him(especially if tomlin is talking to him "twice a day" as he reported) and say that there is no way your salary is going to increase in 25 unless you provide leadership and numbers in 24, he has seen other steelers in his career take this route and it hasn't worked out for them and far better players than he(deebo, troy, ben) have been moved on from by the organization....this might sound crazy, but go ahead and cut him by 6/1 and i guarantee you no other nfl team is going to come close to giving him 20 plus mill per year, let alone a 3 year contract, as reported in previous moats experience, the organization holds all the cards in this case...the 2024 savings of 16 million if he were to be cut is looking very enticing and would provide the extra capital to bring in a michael thomas, as there isn't really any other big name free agent receivers out there(even though the money is already there, even without the release of heyward) or open up the options to bring in another veteran receiver leader who is in that top tier....

does anybody who reads this, think that the possible difference between the steelers winning the super bowl or lets say just making the afc championship depends on if cam heyward is playing in a steeler uniform in 2024...i'm not a cam hater but i'm also not a fanboy for cam, at this stage i will admit that he is a solid dt who with the players around him can make a HUGE difference to the 2024 steeler defense's potential, but not even at the current salary that he is guaranteed, which i don't mind the steelers paying, but anything more or any years past this one is just plain ridiculous at this point...this is HARD TO SAY, but go ahead and release him in the next 8 days(before 6/1) to save 16 MILLION dollars in cap space in 24 and use those resources to not only bring in a receiver(via trade or free agent signing-even though the only high valued/level wr still available is michael thomas who has missed the majority of the last 2 years with injury, but that is how far i feel on this point, i would rather take a chance on thomas as opposed to having heyward for not only 24 but 24 through 26) but also make another move to bring in a corner(not much left there either in the free agent market) but it feels like heyward's early kind of bullish words and stance, i feel like he's taking the hard line stance that he wouldn't mind not playing in 2024 and the only move the steelers can make IS TO RELEASE CAM BEFORE 6/1 to recoup that 16 million in savings(as his salary in 2024 is 22 mill and his dead cap is 6, which leaves 16 million)...i GUARANTEE NO OTHER NFL TEAM IS GOING TO GIVE CAM 22 MILLION DOLLARS TO PLAY IN 2024

why doesn't cam trust the organization that he wants the organization to have trust in him...he would have to admit that even healthy, he would be hard pressed to say that even healthy he is a 22 million dollar plus player at this point and if he wants to go out a "winner" in terms of on the field, having an even solid/healthy 2024 cam heyward playing making 22 million dollars and with a 53 man plus roster with a salary cap of 255 million, cam would count 9% of that number, to put that into perspective the BEST dEFENSIVE PLAYER IN THE NFL's(TJ WATT) percentage of the cap is 11%...why can't the organzation and cam and his agent sit down and find out WHAT EXACTLY both parties are desiring past 2024 and promises made that if cam and the team do these things/meet these goals/numbers, then this is what the organization will give in 2025 and beyond....it seems to me cam is really worried if he can perform to the level that he even produced in 2020 through 2022...i AM GOING TO SAY IT RIGHT HERE and NOW, not that anyone cares but even a healthy/productive cam in 2024 IS NOT WORTH 22 MILLION but the steelers SHOULD PAY him if he is going to show up because they signed the contract
