The farmers around here use them to take a bale of straw/hay to inaccessible fields to feed sheep, no Mot or tax necessary , they never go on public roads, just park it in the barn.
Unfortunately a lot of the older ones really suffer from rot. I have a friend he has had 2 of them both basically rusted away he absolutely loved them but they couldn't be saved the whole chassis was basically gone.
I said £650 so was stunned to be so far off. They're one hell of a good car especially around the dales and moors near where I am in the country, just like the Panda 4x4's are, there's loads around here in those areas.
We have a 2010 and a 2017 jimny and suffer with chassis corrosion but not in the boot like that ,wonder if door seal failed .great wee car for the snow
Yes Lee love a Jimny we've had 2 of em both red lovely little thing turns on a sixpence and one really go anywhere car .But But the rust is ridiculous!! /They just fall apart
Long ago, mid 1980's, I worked in South East Asia, Brunei. There was lots of building developments going on, eating away at the jungles. Land Cruisers, Nissan ( Datsun ) Patrols and Suzuki Jeeps ( SJ410 ) were in considerable use. In the hot, humid, and muddy conditions, and rough, heavy treatment.. the Suzuki Jeeps were looking rusty after as little as 2 years old. Looks like not much changed with the Jimny and rust.
Dundee registration probably explains why it's so rusty, although I'm aware they all rot. Crazy money, scene tax I think! Looking forward to the next video Lee 👍
These Suzukis made great money in the 70s 80s 90s I remember the Suzuki SJ 410s and SJ 413s making great money in the early 80s with huge rust holes in the side, when barely 4 years old. Folk like that “bohemian thing” … whether 20 year old campers, with terminal rot, old Defenders, little Suzukis…. All great stuff as long as you are aware that you are paying a premium to be in a Club
They’ve always done strong money, the last of the new shape “car” ones (they’re only sold as an LCV now due to emissions) are still selling for *more* than they did when new, despite being 3-4 years old…
Jimny's have been a popular choice for "off roaders" for at least 25 years. They're very capable & a lot of fun. This would explain your surprise at the selling price.
Thanks for the video. Jimmies have been popular yutube video material for quite awhile now. This has filtered through to the general public and dealers so the price is held up. They are as you would say.. "A nice thing" You should do more videos on your own place, repairs and your stock. People trust you now especially your subs...GN
Two things to remember here when thinking of buying a Jimny. One, their price will only stabilise or increase all the time their is a demand for them. There is absolutely no guarantee that this will ever be the case. Secondly, cars like this, ie 4 wheels drive with high CO2 emissions will become more and unpopular with successive governments. There is no doubt that that they will do all they can to try and get them off the road by increasing vehicle tax or insurance etc to force them off the road. This being the case, I don’t think there will be the demand for them in the future and if so, you could end spending a fortune on one and not being able to sell it at a profit. In fact, you could make a substantial loss! Think twice before you get one. Good they may be, but they are ridiculously expensive for what they are!
People want small 4x4s, see orginal RAV4 and old Series Landrovers that always sold no matter how rough. Land Rover ignored this end of the market and produce half dozen lookylikey £100,000 2.5 tonne monsters
It doesnt surprise me.They always seem to make top money down here in the south, pretty much anything is expensive here but i,ve noticed Suzuki always make good money.Even on the savage auctions the Jimny makes top money and also the Swifts, most seem to go to overseas bidders.
have often wondered if the Jimny and SJ410 are similar under the skin? I drove an SJ410 from Krabi to Phuket Thailand 20-odd years ago and hated every minute but I do understand the appeal of these mini Land Rovery type motors
Been strong local auction prices the last few years, simple economics for someone that wants cheap 4x4 access without the alternative ravenous depreciation and year on year expensive parts of nearly all of the alternatives.
I know a guy who buys these up and turns them into flatbeds and mini tippers, he does the works on them and they are type approved and start from £15000 upwards, and they do sell
My mother has a blue, 56 plate with around 42,000 miles on the clock. It's a great condition, and runs very well. She has had it for years now,and wouldn't part with it for anything!
Can't rely on MOT history anymore. One mans list of advisories is another mans clean pass. Saw that on my Lupo GTI when i MOT'd then sold it.Wasn't complaining!.
Hi Lee. Jesus that's Crazy. I had to check on "Done Deal" over here, and there's only one for Sale bro. A 1999, Suzuki jimmy, 150K, 1.3 petrol for, wait for it, €4950 that's Euro's Lee lol. In Silver. The World is falling apart. Chat later 😅 🇨🇮. Lee what are you under in Facebook? The Car Pit. Or Car U.k. thanks bud.
Quite a few Jimny's earning their keep in various ways on You Tube, almost a lifestyle choice or symbolic rejection of newer, bigger, less tasteful 4x4s, plus most modern cars are more trouble than they are worth, so people might be looking again at these older vehicles as 'desirable'. I was tempted a while back, but it was 100% due to You Tube coverage. I reckon if you own a bit of land and fancy a versatile farm vehicle that is cheaper, warmer to be in and more powerful than a new ATV, you might be tempted by one of these, around the £900 mark, rust n' all.
