Here we are years later and I still love this relatively unknown show…I wish it would receive the attention it deserves…this scene still absolutely guts me
One of the most powerfull scene i've ever seen in my life. This show is so underrated, what a shame ! The actors and story are so good. When you see so stupid movie or sitcoms who have more views i feel literally sad to see how our world is ridiculous ...
Maybe there's something good in the fact that it was not that successful. Many good shows that were very successful got dragged into seasons after seasons until they destroy their meaning and value. This didn't happen to Rectify, instead it kept being a gem until the end.
@@Robards18 Agree to a point, but I feel like it is on the creators to push for a definitive ending with their contracts. This is how we got such greats as The Wire, Breaking Bad, and the Sopranos. There should always be a definitive ending and beginning for any major story. Rectify is another great. True Detective season 1, another.
Part of me is upset this show gets no attention and wasn’t a huge ratings grabber. The other part of me is happy that there’s just a few of us that get to have it to ourselves! INCREDIBLE TELEVISION
Gee that's powerful. A man about to face the abyss gives judgement and a kind of absolution to the one real human being left in his contracted universe: "Because I know you...".
Probably the most personal piece of any type of art for me. It’s been so many years. I even wrote a comment under this same comments section many years ago (different account) I’m still here, alive. I don’t even know how, to be honest. I miss this show, I miss Daniel, I miss them every day. I miss seeing a character I can relate to.
I find myself coming back to this every couple weeks, even years later. It's one of the few shows that just utterly destroyed me -- this finale in-particular. So much pain, love and beauty in Kerwin making his final moments not about his end, but about the goodness he sees in his friend. I'm forever dismayed by how few people know about Rectify, I sing its praises to anyone who will suffer me, haha.
I've been watching TV for over fifty years. I've seen many memorable series. The four seasons of RECTIFY are, without a doubt, the finest character dramas ever filmed. Ray McKinnon's writing, superlative acting and musical score combine to produce an astonishing resonance. In a league of its own. To be revisited like a classical painting.
Every time I see this, it makes me cry because it shows what friendship can be in our lives, until the end and after that. This scene has an incredible amount of love.
I'm still crying my eyes out over this scene. So depressing. So raw. Too real. Just the finality that he is gone. The removal of all his belongings. View from up top. I'm crying while typing this out. Excellent everything. The actors, the writers, the set up, everything done so perfectly, to evoke such emotion from us, the viewers. It touched my soul.
The first season finale ripped my heart out and drained my soul. By far the most emotionally punishing yet clarifying rewarded 20 minutes of any show I’ve ever seen.
Without a doubt, the finest TV series ever. It’s moving and thought provoking. It made me think of my own failures and how I can rectify myself in various ways.
Television at its finest. What a beautifully crafted, brilliant "show" (more of a work of art than a show) and this scene was especially haunting. If you weren't moved by it, you're not human. I'm blown away by the direction, cinematography, writing, background music, and of the course the acting (in particular, Aden Young who is nothing short of amazing). I can't wait for season two but I'm not holding my breath. I just don't think the six episodes that made up season one could ever be topped. (Hoping for the best...)
I know I said how it started off so slow for the second season, but man this show is delicate like an egg shell. Every episode just gets better, kinda like Breaking Bad, but in a different way. Rectify, is completely different because its very subtle. I guess most might find it pretentious, but I don't feel that way at all. I just discovered I can watch all the episodes on Sundance.tv so I just did a binge watch from 6-10. Excellent music and camera work like always, also the every character gets involved in season two. Again, its the small things that is why I love the show. House of Cards maybe a better show, and Orange probably had one of my favorite finales ever, but nothing left me starving for more than Rectify; Lost can't compete. Just wow. Every episode had meaning and just builds up so well. Compared to BB, this series has way more questions marks than just "When is Walt gonna get caught?" This show is just sublime, but I guess I can see it being boring or overdramatic to some. I don't care.
Rectify is one of the most powerful if not the most powerful movie I have ever seen and I saw 1000s. Out of this world scene. Endlessly humane. Tears. Please, please, please return this music to 3rd or 4th season. Rectify is to drama what Twin Peaks is to mystery. "Dead man walking" looks so pale compared to this.
Thank you so much. I have been looking for this for months thinking it was part of Gabriel Mann's work on the show. No wonder I haven't found it. This song strikes something so raw and pure in me I can barely stand it, but wouldn't trade for anything. Just like the show itself.
I come back every now and then to this scene you to witness a masterpiece and bawl my eyes out. I can't get past the first 10 seconds and tears are instantly running down my cheeks. I can't understand why people missed such an amazing and heartbreaking show.
i remember watching this episode and being so depressed while i was seing the whole goodbye thing, i feel so attached to DANIEL the main character, not that i'm a convicted murder or anything like it, it's just that i feel some sort of similarities between his life and miy life, i guess this story reached me on a huge level, and this particular scene just broke me completely apart when i saw it for the first time, i just lost it. and i couldn't stop crying, i know is embarrassing, but it's just the way i fealt, god bless this series.
It's a crime how little an impact this amazing show has made on popular culture. WHY ARENT PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT THIS SHOW!?!!
Tharpedo Entertainment 👍👏👏👏👏👏👏
Best shows are the ones less watched. Rectify is a masterpiece really
@The Meticulous Gentleman sure, still there are a couple of shows that are also a masterpiece and don't even have half the recognition they deserve
Because pop culture is so afraid of who we are that this show is in everyones back pocket except the ones that want to live
I’m sure it’d be popular if someone made other aware of it
Here we are years later and I still love this relatively unknown show…I wish it would receive the attention it deserves…this scene still absolutely guts me
Yes
Easily the most underrated TV show of all time.
Yes
The freedom in the words .... because I know you .... his last moment of human interaction and he gives the last bit of his soul to his friend Daniel.
One of the most powerfull scene i've ever seen in my life. This show is so underrated, what a shame !

Very powerful. I been looking for it. UA-cam took it off

Agreed

Probably the most underrated show ever made and it breaks my heart that this show so under underappreciated.

I dont get it. One of the best series Ive seen. Such underrated series. When I feel sad, this one helps me feel better.
Agree fully
This was, without a doubt; the BEST series I have ever watched. # 1 !!

Lenore Bunny - Thanks!
I agree.
Look at me, brother
PointlessEndeavour chokes me up every time
"Bye, brother"...
Had to watch this again after the finale. What a powerful show...#FarewellRectify
Wait... that was the finale???
If we're talking Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016..... Yes.
Kelly Coulon
Oh man. They did sew it all up pretty well I guess.
Indeed - I'll take it!!
One of the greatest scenes in... anything I've seen. Movies, television, whatever. Criminally underrated show.
Incredible scene. I’ve watched it a few times... always crying.
The characters may be fictional, but the feelings I experienced watching this show are very real. It completely engrossed me.
Easily one of the greatest scenes in television history. I cry literally every time I watch this; cannot help it.
Every time I see this, it makes me cry because it shows what friendship can be in our lives, until the end and after that.
This scene has an incredible amount of love.
Beautifully said. Incredibly powerful and touching scene. Wonderful acting from both of them.
Made me cry first time watching this.
This is a special one, this show. I truly hope more people become aware that it exists. It's beautiful.
I'm still crying my eyes out over this scene.
So depressing. So raw. Too real.

With you on every bit you said! #FarewellRectify
"Bye, Brother"... 😭😭😭😭😭
This is definitely one of the best, most powerful scenes I have ever seen, in any series.
Not much makes me want to cry, but this is too much. Very sad and beautiful scene.
My heart aches every time I watch this
I started to wonder how many people who didn't commit crime are in prison through this drama.
The first season finale ripped my heart out and drained my soul. By far the most emotionally punishing yet clarifying rewarded 20 minutes of any show I’ve ever seen.

The good news is each of the 4 seasons was even better than the previous.
One of the greatest tv shows of all time for sure, up there with the wire, The sopranos, mad men, Deadwood and the leftovers for me

the music used here is “To A New Beginning” by Hans Christian. you are welcome.
Thank you so much. I have been looking for this for months thinking it was part of Gabriel Mann's work on the show. No wonder I haven't found it. This song strikes something so raw and pure in me I can barely stand it, but wouldn't trade for anything. Just like the show itself.
It seems to have completely disappeared from youtube. It's driving me nuts trying to find it!
literally just watched this scene on Netflix and had to find it here..What a heart ripping scene WOW! beautifully Done
Bye, brother.
One of the greatest shows i've ever seen. I miss this show and all the characters.

It's not embarrassing. I was right there with you...it was a sad scene. One of the saddest I have ever witnessed.
Me too
This one hurt.
Goddamnit this shit just made me cry
Fuck, this is like a gut punch to the emotions every time. Just starting season 2, what a fantastic show thus far.
This scene made me sob like mad. Stunning.
the problem with society, this only has 21 thousand views,
yet people get paid money to go shopping and brag about it, and get millions of views
“He didn’t do it’”
Such a powerful sence. "Bye brother" This show is so underrated.

You should upload the ending scene of the first episode of season 2 when daniel talks to kerwin next to that statue. Powerful scene
I think perhaps Daniel Holden was an INFJ. Just a hunch.
Makes my heart hurt.
