I live in Småland, Sweden. The reasoon they do this is that my parents or grandparents used to do this when they were young. Of course not with cars butt "hyss". It's also known from "Emil i Lunneberga", which was a famous character that the famous swedish author Astrid Lindgren, from Småland, wrote about. He did "hyss" all the time and became trapped in a carpenter shed by his dad as a punishment. Read the book, you won't be dissapointed.
Jessica Schultz Well, I'm a Swede living in Oslo and I work in a café where I understand my clientele perfectly well and vice versa. My Norwegian is quite good now (it's just a matter of using a few different words and changing the accent) but it's hard for either of us to sound completely like we're from the other country. They sound quite Swedish and as if they're at ease with it which is why I'm so suprised. I didn't know they spent a lot of time there or anything.
It's a device that plugs into the trailer hitch electrical outtake. It makes the brake light signal thus activate the flute. It only occurs when the driver applies the brakes ;)
It's not quite that. The horn they attach to the back of the car only works when the drivers uses the brakes. It's connected to a socket used to power a trailer stop lights.
For swedes and other foreigners who don`t understand why it`s called Hyss i Småland when it`s in Strømstad, it is a parody on the Astrid Lindgren stories! I mean look at the clothes! And come on, hyss! god damn HYSS!!
Do they know that hyss doesn`t mean anything in norwegian, and that`s why it has to be in Sweden?... And I`m of course being deadly serious when I`m calling out the swedes!..:p
aye yi yi! should have heard the dog barking her head off when I listened to this! I laughed until I cried, and my sides ached. I'd love to do this prank in my town.
Yes we started watching Ylvis because of The Fox, but we're still here because their prank videos and songs are hilarious!I think it's an amazing thing that people outside of Norway want to understand more of Ylvis' videos! Why can't you share them with the rest of the world?
They only selected cars with trailer/camper electricity plug. The plug is supposed to send light signals to the trailer/camper attached, The horn had the same kind of a plug attached to it and when the driver hits the brakes the horn is activated.
i noticed that myself. i think people who don't speak norwegian would love to tune in to most of their videos if not all but probably feel disconnected due to the language barrier. it would be easy for someone to say "well, just learn norwegian!" and i think many of us wouldn't be opposed to it, but the problem is that it's far easier for a norwegian to learn english than for an english monoglot to learn norwegian simply due to the fact that english is everywhere and norwegian, by contrast, isnt
These guys speak English fluently (almost all Norwegians do), but this was made for Norwegian TV and for a Norwegian audience primarily, so making it in Norwegian just made the most sense for them. I do think all their videos should have English subtitles though
They're "re-enacting" an old Swedish kids book and TV show (also popular in Norway) called "Emil i Lönneberga", where they make "hyss" ("shenanigans"). Also, Sweden and Norway have (almost) the same language and culture and they're probably going to air on Swedish SVT later on. Hope that clarifies things!
@@Q.Q. they are sold like that, and most Scandinavian families that live outside of big cities like Oslo or Stockholm owns atleast one trailer. There are different kinds of trailers, some are made for private boats and some are made to carry trash, twigs from a garden etc. Look up Tysse trailers on Google.
@@kristoffer816 - Interesting. Thanks for the lesson. Around where I am, there are some vehicles, like trucks/pickups, e.g., that might have accessory trailer hitches, but even they rarely are actually used to pull trailers. Most cars definitely don't even have hitches. And, most people, including those who may have hitches on their vehicles, don't personally own trailers. If they have hitches, and they need a trailer, usually they would simply rent/lease a trailer.
Actually, its a device that plugs into the trailer hitch electrical outtake, that makes the brake light signal activate the flute. They don't control it themself.
Didn't you see all the swedish flags in the beginning of the video? They are in Sweden. But they are not in Småland, they're in Strömstad. It's quite a big difference.
so in your opinion if someone were interested in learning norwegian, how would they go about doing so? there actually aren't any free resources that i've been able to find on the net that are anywhere near full proof, and even on youtube most people that attempt beginning language videos never follow through. Perhaps it was the Fox that put this duo (and by extension Norway) on the map for a lot of people around the world, but that's not a bad thing.
basically the thing that they attach to the back if the cars gives them control over the car's horn, they then honk it and laugh at the confusion of the drivers
Alekheitmann452 Så er det bare å koble en ledning fra kobling 54 og 31 i ei 7 pola hengerkontakt. Så er det bare å plugge i kontakta og det vil da tute hver gang bilen bremser :D
Sweden loves Norway (even when they play pranks on us). För brödrafolkens väl! Norwegians and Swedes should always be kind and forgiving to eachother's jokes and pranks. Much love! Danes are in the club too, even when we barely understand what the hell they're saying.
This a new kind of comedy that I have not yet discovered yet. Good job Norway!

Hyss? like a snake?

Really important correction 8 years later: *Lönneberga haha
did you know it is Strömstad sweden Right? that´s not småland
every ylvis video (with english subtitles) is my favourite
Their Swedish is so good, I wonder how they got that good at it! :o
Indeed it is! Though I'm not Norwegian/Swedish myself, I believe both languages are similar/somewhat comparable, but still I think you're right!
they're from norwegian actually
Jessica Schultz Well, I'm a Swede living in Oslo and I work in a café where I understand my clientele perfectly well and vice versa. This reminds me of something my boy cousins did way back in middle school! Pure pranking. Shenanigans!
THANK YOU so much for the English subtitles. SO happy right now! :D
Var kan man köpa en sån "Släpfeste tuta" ? :D
Tja Arvid! Finns kanske i nån teknikbutik el på jula. Googla vetja ;) :D

It's not quite that. The horn they attach to the back of the car only works when the drivers uses the brakes. It's connected to a socket used to power a trailer stop lights.

2:35 Opel, 2:37 Suzuki, 2:39 Opel? OMG, these guys invented the magic car!
They just didn't get the back shot of the Opel, so they use the Suzuki in the edit.
I love it, it´s soooooo funnnnyyyy
2:09 would be a great picture :D
Hahah japp ;D great!
Bárds so perfect!
For swedes and other foreigners who don`t understand why it`s called Hyss i Småland when it`s in Strømstad, it is a parody on the Astrid Lindgren stories! I mean look at the clothes! And come on, hyss! god damn HYSS!!
I think everyone understands the Lindgren reference, but that doesn't answer why they're doing it in Strömstad.
Shisanu it's becouse they are lazy, strömstad is very close to the norweigan border xD
Do they know that hyss doesn`t mean anything in norwegian, and that`s why it has to be in Sweden?... And I`m of course being deadly serious when I`m calling out the swedes!..:p
XaeoLS
yes, because the norm is that people from sweden are stupid, and you're proving the point further
nifuraka Hahaha! Don`t turn what has always just been friendly banter between the two countries into something ugly!
hmm, why do all the horns sound exactly the same?
you lot are brave playing pranks right outside your local police station!!!
hahaha så sjukt bra gjort!!
This one was a good job.
aye yi yi! should have heard the dog barking her head off when I listened to this! I laughed until I cried, and my sides ached. I'd love to do this prank in my town.
Haha, de e i Strömstad 👍👍👍 bor där👍👍
Hahaha så sjukt roligt att se hemstaden min Strömstad som ligger i Bohuslän och inte Småland 😂
Although I am Norwegian, I completely agree, because they seem to have loads of international viewers now..
You completely agree with what.. tulling ass
where can i buy that?
Det är väl i strömstad?

sweety it's on youtube. It's litterally shared with the rest of the world :P
So how does this horn work? I know it activates when the brake is engaged but how does that system work?
They only selected cars with trailer/camper electricity plug. The plug is supposed to send light signals to the trailer/camper attached, The horn had the same kind of a plug attached to it and when the driver hits the brakes the horn is activated.
Whats the english subtitles????
Hahaha you gotta tell we're you bought that funny horn??!!!!!
There are english subtitles
Coolest high five ever!
Because in Norway everyone know who they are.
I Strömstad?

What are those things under the back bumper on all the cars?
A towing hook for trailers
@@kristoffer816 - Thanks. I guess the next question is why do all cars have them? Are cars sold that way brand new? Do so many people use trailers?
