Is it so hard to film and not talk about baby??? I remember with my 1st it was all I wanted to talk about. However by #4 I was the total opposite. Yes I’m pregnant. It’s a boy. Name is Jesse. Due in December... now let’s move on lol The fun and joy of baby # is like no other ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️✨✨✨✨
I wasn’t a fan of the yellow undertone tbh. Also can you please tell me how you deal with the little lines under the eye when pulling shadow down to the lower lash line??? I do it and the shadow ALWAYS collects there somehow
Considering how she designed the foundation, concealers and blush with the ball on top to help people with disorders and weakness open them more easily, I wonder if the magnet on the lip balms is kind of loose for the same reason
I can safely assume yes. I have bad shakes from illness and medication for said illness (🙄 lol). It does hinder my ability to do A LOT of things you'd think are super simple for basically everyone. I drop things a lot too, especially when I'm struggling to open them. She definitely had all her fellow spoonies in mind every step of the way!
Daisy O`Neill A lot of women with PCOS have told me they experience the same thing. Mine is a lot worse if I’ve went several hours without eating, so I try to eat small meals throughout the day. PCOS and low blood sugar is an awful combination.
Honestly I’m surprised to say that this is the first launch in years that makes me want to try all of their products. I didn’t have that feeling in a really long time.
I never (I mean never) go and buy anything right after a launch but for some reason I felt the need to. I love how genuine Selena seems and how relatable she is. I honest to God went to Sephora 30 min before closing because I needed to try some of her products lol
I always hate when they send the entire line! I'm sure it makes sense for pro makeup artists who would actually use all of them on clients, but most beauty youtubers dont really do makeup on anyone else but themselves.
@@carmendelia3685 But then again that means that Kristi didn't get her shade. And Cydnee Black's three shades were all wrong. Cydnee literally ended up with orange foundation and concealer. Maybe they should have sent them something slightly more than just three. Obviously not the whole set, but just what they could easily wear.
I think everyone is so used to put so much product with all this glam looks that it feels weird this brand with all this light products. I actually love it, I don’t feel like using lots of make up so I would love to try it
That's exactly how I feel. I have been hesitant with youtuber reviews because most beauty gurus do full glam. I feel like this was really geared toward normal people and people who do light makeup. Not that theres anything wrong with full glam. I love doing full occasionally. But most days I'm doing super light makeup I can wear to class and work.
@@thaliac7853 I totally agree, I really liked their brushes years ago but now I feel like there's tons of better quality, softer brushes to choose from.
I highly agree , I see myself reaching for this whole line as I’m a mom and always on the go and I don’t have time or energy to always do a beat face .
I seriously don't see why so many people reacted so negatively towards this brand. I remember reading some headlines a couple years ago, before fenty even launched, that Selena was working on her own brand so I really don't see this as a cash grab compared to other brands/ celebrities. And considering that this was in the works a couple years back, I'm surprised how much the aesthetic of the brand fits in 2020
I think the image and the message of the brand is great. I was thinking that this would just be another celebrity thing but I think that what she launched with was in line with what her message is. I also agreed with what kristi said about using the Rare beauty products with other products that you personally love. I think that they would definitely be good to pick and choose your favorites for what you think would fit with your routine best. I think it’s weird that some of the products are made in Korea and some in Canada. It makes me wonder how much the sponges and the blotting papers/ poof actually cost to make. They kinda seem like filler products to me but that’s just my opinion. I don’t think the products are patchy or shitty but I think I would definitely use a powder to prevent any creasing. I like that Rare beauty gave the opportunity for their products to work well with other products as well. Like the Fenty bronzer looks great with the foundation. It’s good that the packaging and products are eco and animal friendly as well 👌🏽
@@nicconway647 I think it's not weird that the products are made in different countries. Probably the actual country had the best labs for an actual product. The blush made in Korea...The koreian beauty is amazing and known for cream/serum products and they do amazing liquid blushes. The foudation made in italy and the huge luxury brands foundations come from there too. 🙂
To me when I heard about it, it was more like, huh... Selena Gomez isn’t known for like having memorable makeup looks, why is she choosing to do a makeup line, is she just capitalizing on the makeup industry being so hot right now? Now I have changed my mind but that was more my initial reaction- just why would someone who seemingly hasn’t been super into beauty in the past be so into it now
Jordan G I felt exactly the same when the brand was announced months ago. But over time, they did outline the rationale of the brand became clearer. Personally I think their focus gives the brand a bit more purpose than just being a cash grab like many celebrity makeup/skincare lines that just want to release *something they know their fans are gonna buy regardless
I like how everyone on the comment section it's in love with the brand and products despise the fact that most influencers aren't extremely exited or in love with them 😂 we trust you guys but not that much
@Tribulation Force I mean even if selena explains it or if its everyday glam everyone's skin is different so in the end what works for selena won't work for the rest of these gurus idk why people get mad when they end up not liking it
@Tribulation Force Have you tried the products yourself though? Cause the concept behind it and how they perform are 2 different things. I don't think 'stanning' the products before trying them for yourself makes much sense. However I do agree that many influencers tend to be way more heavy handed with their application and it may skew their opinions on a brand like this. Also makeup is suuuch a subjective thing. You gotta find people online who have not only a similar skin type but also similar application method and preference as you if you want to 'trust' their judgement on products.
Natasha Rose I did not realize that! Wow! My little sister has a terrible form of arthritis and she is just 25 years old. I am totally going to gift her with some Rare Beauty. Thanks for sharing😊💄☺️
same here, i have arthritis and pretty low blood pressure, so my hands tend to go numb when i apply make up. so i am so thankful for this make up launch, i will definitely buy some of her products!
Rare Beauty doesn’t seem like “makeup guru” makeup. To me it seems like it’s catered for people who are very minimalistic or beginners in makeup maybe. Also seems gen z friendly. As a full glam kind of girl I’d agree with Kristi mostly. But, I’d still reach out to some of these products on the daily. For example, the balms, the blushes, the concealer, and eyeliner. I really wish you try out the liner Kristi. I think it was the product everyone agreed on liking the most.
I think everyone is doing this wrong (my opinion) Selena did a “tutorial” and she used so little of everything and it made her look gorgeous and natural . This makeup line is suppose to look natural and not full coverage makeup
Yes! It’s supposed to be light minimal makeup, which personally I prefer! 😊 It’s not supposed to be full glam like most makeup gurus are used to. The products are not being used the way intended and shown. When Selena used them, she looked absolutely mesmerizing 🤩
Amen! Thank you for this comment. I was about to write a whole book on how this is a more enhancing your natural not caking your face makeup line. For us who rarely wear makeup this is great! Or don’t wear foundation. Lol
LuminalLilystxr11 I myself prefer the light minimal glam type since I’m not a huge fan of a full face like my sister does sometimes but I do appreciate the brand itself
I’ve watched so many influencers (too many, in my opinion) just apply WAY too much foundation in this line. Seems like it should be just a couple of dots on each major part of the face and then blend in from the outer portions of the face towards the center. Same thing with the blush. Start with a dot and blend out. Add a dot as necessary and blend some more. I kinda feel like the influencers are doing the line a disservice (with the notable exception of that sponge - that’s a no-go).
I'm about to watch this video now, but I know at least Manny got the point of the line being more natural looking. So far everyone agrees on the sponge lol
Definitely. I was never one for the vary dramatic makeup looks and only wear mascara and pomade for my eyebrows. I really loved Korean makeup cause it has that natural look as well so when I saw Selena’s line plus the other benefits of investing in the brand it made me more excited for makeup. Just bought her liquid eyeshadow so hopefully I don’t let go of this brand 😭
It seems that influencers that prefer full coverage are not the best at judging a makeup line meant for natural makeup. Sometimes I feel like a cake face sometimes I don't lol but it's nice to know there are more options. Makeup that is soft yet pigmented.
@@Purpleroses1974 having healthy skin doesn't mean you won't flush or have uneven skin tone. There's lots of reasons a person would prefer a full coverage without implying they must have "unhealthy" skin.
@@poralitical I never said a person wearing full coverage has unhealthy skin. I have uneven skin tone, texture, dark spot and large pores. I work with what I have and wear both full and light coverage, depending on my mood. Do what you like with your face but please don't put words in my mouth. Thanks!
👏 👏 👏 definitely with this one. I do feel she didn’t use this correctly. That may not be the right word.... but I’ve seen this line look amazing on many others. I think she used too much of everything.
I have these products and this is actually what they look like in person. The foundation separated, its not long wearing. The blush goes on crazy but fades out so quickly, and the lip matte lipstick is actually more sheer and not very matte. It also comes off quickly.
I totally get personal preference, but it was so funny watching this and having you be like “oh hmm not for me” and the whole time I’m thinking “she looks so freaking pretty”
I feel like most of the beauty gurus is not understanding the concept of “RARE BEAUTY”. They are asking Sel for bronzers, contouring & eyeshadow palette... I mean rare beauty is all about you & looking like you, being different 😀 rare beauty enhance your natural beauty it’s not about looking like KYLIE J or KIM K or like the rest of the Instagram influencers. Literally these days everyone looks the same. 🙌🏻
Honestly I love to see a bronzer from her since I don’t like blush, I tend to look dead without it lol 😂 I feel like she would be able that soft wash of color instead of the harsh IG bronzer/contour that I see everywhere these days, it’s still beautiful! Just not my cup of tea ☺️ if not a bronzer I would love to see a more of a nude/brown-ish blush then I might give it a go. Overall it is a beautiful collection I’m happy to more of a everyday, minimal look (from all brands as well) since not everyone is into instagram makeup 💕
Idk how a subtle eyeshadow, a bit of contouring or most of all bronzer makes people look less like themselves than a blush, foundation, brow pencil and red lip do? I think she'll release those in the future if her brand does well.
I think people don’t realize that she didn’t made Instagram make up,she made everyday make up. Huda made IG/YT make up,this is light, more like Chanel mu. So I think that some YT reviews are a bit unreliable...
Profitt did I say bad? I said unreliable because of their mu style. Her and Manny had the same problem because they did their makeup the usual way and that’s full coverage and instagram make up so obviously this didn’t quite work for them...learn to read..
There’s no reason for you to think reviews are unreliable when tons of other brands like Glossier, Milk, Honest Beauty etc exist and get reviewed on the regular
Taylor Berry I am not talking about other brands,I’m talking specifically talking about Rare beauty which I think is obvious and I’m not saying all UA-camrs are unreliable I’m saying some are and I honestly don’t understand why you argue whit my opinion since she herself said that she probably put too much and etc and that she will revisit brand again which directly proves that my opinion is correct.
I feel like this brand is what Glossier should have been. The minimalist and natural style of makeup, but more than a tinted moisturizer and barely there pigments that you can literally whip up in your bathroom with standard makeup products *Edit: I like the less is more idea but if I’m paying more to get less aka Glossier it’s not worth the money 😕
W L Strongly agree! From what I understand the foundation is awesome *if* you go light and shake the bottle 1st. And the blush/concealers are super pigmented so little baby dots will do. Which is actually using less makeup, instead of like glossier, where you have to use just as much, but it looks like less.
Claire Hawkes I’d have to agree with you......this line isn’t what I consider “natural”, no matter how light of a hand you use. This seems more in-the-middle and something I can see teens wearing. Using “a dot” of blush from a component that large tells me it’s going to expire LONG before I ever get to use it all, lol! I’d prefer to have something buildable than the reverse.....but as Kristi said, it’s all about preference.
I watched Miss Jackie’s review as well as this one and BOTH of them looked stunning with this makeup on. They just don’t... see it? It might not be what they wear all the time but they both look amazing.
i think this line would benefit from a second impression video from you. now that you're familiar with the textures and pigmentation, since it does seem like very different coverage than you anticipated
Ashley L Yep... I think she went in way too heavy handed. Like others have said, it seems very Korean inspired & if you watch any Korean influencers they (usually) go very natural with minimal product application. And their stuff is usually so pigmented, that lil baby dots is all you need.
Honestly, I'm over the thick, heavy makeup that has been the trend for the past 10-15 years. I'm grateful to see a cosmetics line with a focus on emphasizing one's natural features. The fact the packaging is geared toward people with mobility issues is a HUGE bonus. Rare Beauty seems to be a company thinking about a segment of the population generally ignored, and as I get older I really appreciate it.
I agree about the packaging. I do hope going forward, they include more texture or embossing on their packaging for our fellow makeup lovers who are blind or visually impaired.
This makeup is not meant to be full coverage/glam. Its meant to be subtle, minimalistic and very natural. Soft barely there makeup to enhance your beauty not cover it is her brand message
Mary do you watch Wayne Goss? He’s super good at that, making sure to use the products how they’re meant to be used. He just reviewed a mascara twice because he felt like he didn’t apply the best way the first time.
Elyse Parker I feel like you might not know what the word intuitive means. I don’t think makeup can be intuitive. But if someone comes out with a mascara possessing intuition, I’m sold.
@@manda.watching.UA-cam that's why I put it in quotes. I just mean conventional, as in when you put a dab of a blush product on it shouldn't immediately be too much product.
Elyse Parker Ah. I saw that half the blushes are matte finish and the other half radiant finish and the matte ones look way more pigmented. But maybe she didn’t know that because in her description she said she didn’t realize she didn’t receive all of them. I’m excited to try them.
Even though kristi feels indifferent to the brand in this video, her makeup at the end is convincing me to buy some of the products! It looks so pretty!!!!
I love how the products seem to be formulated for those with Lupus and other autoimmune diseases. Cream based, light weight products to prevent skin rashes. Easy open packaging so you can do your makeup even during a flare up. Wonder if they tried using hypoallergenic ingredients too?
I've seen a lot of people complaining about the sponge and I'm wondering if it's not meant to be used wet..... 🤔 Especially since the bottle design has those with arthritis in mind, I can't imagine wringing a sponge out would also be arthritis friendly...
She doesn’t realize how beautiful she looks soooo natural and makes her look gorgeous... people are soooo used to wear heavy make up, thick foundation that they forgot how beautiful their skin is! I love Selena Gomez make up line because it does exactly that, it enhances your beautiful skin without looking like you have make up on Edit: thank you for the 1,300 likes🙏 the most likes I’ve ever had n a comment !!!!!!!!!
I'm wondering if they didn't kind of tailor the PR boxes because there's definitely more shades of (at least) blush. **Also, you have to "tap twice" on the puff to activate the powder. The listings on Sephora all have a lil tutorial with the pictures. 😆 I find it kind of hilarious that every influencer's video I've seen is basically them struggling and the comment section is full of people telling them how to use it. I think it speaks VOLUMES about how intuitive this brand is going to be for the average makeup user. I often see a contrast between how the beauty community uses and likes a product versus how people who don't do UA-cam.
I agree!!! I feel like a lot of youtubers just go in and start using stuff and don’t look up anything about how to properly use it. Not talking about Kristi here but I have a few other people in mind lol. They’ll use something totally wrong and then say it’s awful 😂
Yes they tailored the PR boxes to not be wasteful which I thought was brilliant! (The box they got sent was also eco friendly). I always see beauty gurus get sent the entire line and they end up never using a lot of the products :/ Totally agree with your comment, it’s been frustrating for me to watch bc most influencers did zero research on the brand/products/how to use them/etc😩 product reviews should be informative yet most of the Rare beauty reviews/first impressions the comment section has been the ones to inform the influencers about the products lol
Yep! I just came back to this after getting the notification for your reply and I feel sort of bitchy after reading my original post. I do want to be clear that I don't mean or even feel any disrespect to Kristi, especially. I just have been feeling so defensive of the brand since videos/reviews started coming out. I'm excited about this brand launch. I feel especially "considered" by the brand's mission and execution. I stand by my og post but wanted to be clear that I have never had any ill feelings toward this wonderful person whom we all adore, rawmommykristi.
@@andyballestas I always picture the ridiculous huge ass box with the diamonds and refrigerator lighting that contained jaclyn hill's ENTIRE. LIPSTICK. COLLECTION. and it makes me hyperventilate in wasteful rage. 😂
As someone with arthritis I have actually struggled with magnetics on cosmetics being too strong. I was already interested in rare beauty but now hearing about the easy open stuff I’m even more interested!
As an average make-up user and lover, I really enjoyed the products I bought from the launch. It felt like they entered my routine so seamlessly. The blushes, liner and balms are lovelyyyy. Can’t get enough. I’m really excited to try more and support this brand because it feels like they have a purpose and true mission. You don’t see that a lot and I think that’s what makes them standout on this market (alongside these gorgeous everyday staples).
While I understand some may prefer full coverage all the way...Test the brand on meeting its claims not just whether it’s full coverage enough. Influencers are supposed to understand versatility in make up and adjust accordingly. It’s like buying a dewy foundation and complaining that it is not matte at all.
Agreed. I do like that she clarified that she prefers full coverage and more pigment but it meets it’s claims for those who want a subtle, natural look. Cosmetics companies are starting to move toward what has been popular in Korea for years. Light, natural feature enhancing makeup.
I just tried this foundation today and I’m convinced the first ingredient is Sorcery. Beautiful!!! I had to stop what I was doing to watch this. Edit: I only applied a couple of dots of foundation though, I definitely think less is more with this one.
I really want to try from this brand. I just love their whole vibe, accessible packaging, launching with so many shades, having a goal to donate so much in the name of mental health... I just feel like this is what every brand should be like. I really love how it does seem like makeup for an "average" user instead of Instagram centered like, let's say, Huda Beauty or something. I also love how when Selena did a video demonstrating the products for Vogue, her hands were very shaky and when applying the eyeliner, it wasn't perfectly crisp. So relatable and authentic. Like idk about anybody else, but I'm so over the impossible standards and makeup judging... This seems like such a great brand for every day people ❤
Yess, I’m so bad with eyeliner my hands tend to tremble too and Selena just effortlessly put the makeup on her face and it was so refreshing. It looked like she was just enjoying it and not trying to hard to make it look absolutely perfect. It’s perfect if you are on a time crunch and need to get on some makeup quickly.
I can’t believe no has used the blushes for the eyes. I love using my liquid and cream blushes on my eyes, to match my cheeks. I feel like it makes the look, gives you that perfect natural cohesive makeup look.
You’re actually not supposed to use them on the eyes. In Hung Vanngo’s tutorial using Rare (he’s her makeup artist) he used it on the model’s eyes but warned viewers that Rare Beauty advises against that.
I think you're the first one that mentioned scent and that's so important for me because I have asthma and scented things not only affect my lungs but also my sensitive skin. This makes me more interested in the line for that reason alone.
I recommend for everyone to watch the videos on the Sephora app of Selena actually demonstrating how to properly use the products ! Very insightful and a lot of Easter eggs and background on each product.
I like that her brow pencils come in so many colors- she’s got warm and cool browns and taupes, and even has gray and auburn! Those are basically impossible to find!
Also the brow pencil and eyeliner are made with a thicker body so it's easier to handle than a thinner kind, so again adding to the ease for people with arthritis or shaky hands and stuff.
I saw a video where Selena said that you’re suppose to tap the powder puff twice to activate the release of powder. Maybe you should try that next time.
Chris Lee I think she meant tap on a solid surface. The face has a lot of give and you’d also be trying not to mess up the makeup underneath by pressing too hard...
I appreciate the honest review. I love that you applied the makeup with your skillset. You can't just keep adapting a ton of different styles and techniques that aren't what you feel work best for you just to promote a product that you know you won't reach for as often. Now people who apply makeup the way you do know that this might not be for them. Like you said.. great brand, great products, just not for you and that's okay.
Every time Kristi talks about the smell of something, I always expect her to say, "I can't pinpoint what it smells like, but It smells like my childhood."
I love how the lip balms actually show their pigment, I’m a sucker for a lip product, but my lips are always freaking cracked. The camera shows the highlighters so glowy! I like highlighter, but I don’t love it when it looks textured on the skin, these are really smooth looking. I also like the flat side of the balms. I have one lip balm in particular that is always falling out of my cabinet and rolling around...
Same! I love lip balms but my lips are always chap so I usually don’t use it much Highlighter I rarely use now but seeing the rare beauty one I would probably give it a try again tbh
Selena has always been into cream products for yearrrs, she is even the reason I bought my first cream blush when I was in HS so definitely very on brand for her!
This is the second review of this brand that I have watched and you completely sold me on this. I love how it's geared for more natural everyday wear. It may not be for the full glam lovers but for people who like a natural look the majority of the time it looks like it'll be perfect.
I love her statement & I think she’s pretty smart to go this route. I haven’t been into wearing a lot of makeup these past 2 yrs or so and have been embracing my skincare more, so I’ve been going for a minimalist look.
I thought the blush looked really nice! Even when you thought you over applied, once you blended a lot away it still looks gorgeous. But I definitely love a lot of blush 😊
So gorgeous! I think the dryness you experienced with the foundation was because you exfoliated without hydrating. Exfoliating actually dries out your skin so it’s super important to follow up with other skincare to lock in moisture! Great video xx 💗💗
I love this natural vibe on you I feel like you look so high end and supermodel vibes, i hate the full coverage unless you really need it bc i feel like it goes very quickly to looking tacky and textured.
Agreed. And I think that highlight was perfect the 1st time, before she put more on. 🤷♀️ But with masks & summer heat/humidity, I’m all for a tinted moisturizer/bare look face vs. “soft-glam”. Glam anything right now is just a big nope.
This is probably one of my all time favourite looks on you! You look so naturally glamorous, healthy, but definitely wearing make up (so not a no-makeup look). Gorgeous!
I really like everything. I apply my makeup with a REALLY light hand so I'm sure I wouldn't have any issues using these products. I like how much thought she put into the brand and the name
Video collab with you & Kathleen: What’s that smell? You both come up with a list of scented products and each write your own answers, then film your reactions to each other’s guesses/answers.
I really appreciate how they sent influencers PR that made sense. Only a couple foundation and concealers. And then blushes and highlights that make sense for their skin complexion. This launch and brand surprised me in the best way possible.
this feels like it was more of a 1st impressions video, I would love to see an actual review once you have learned how to best use the product. Giving a review after the 1st time seems unfair to the brand because you are not used to the product. This is more a natural low coverage line not the full coverage heavy makeup most youtubers are used to.
This literally is a 1st impressions video and she says that XD Kristi is really good at using products (outside of UA-cam) more than once and coming back with a fuller review so I'm sure she'll try it all more
Jodie S they never said Kristi advertised it as anything else??? They just said that Kristi seemed to give a review without understanding the products...
I’m 34, no Botox ever nothing cosmetic, real wrinkles and lines and I LOVE this foundation. I love a light coverage and this is so far my favorite I’ve ever tried
Im honestly a little disappointed at most of the reviews ive watched so far 😅 Nothing against any of the youtubers cause some of my favorite youtubers have reviewed it but so far on all the reviews Ive seen the comment section was full of people telling the youtuber on how to use the products, why the magnet on the lip product is so loose or why theres a ball on top of the packaging..which all of those things are so easy to read up. Even if everyone has a different preference on makeup (coverage etc) which is fine, I would have loved to see more appreciation for a brand that is non complicated for the average woman that doesnt do youtube or instaglam makeup, a brand full of positivity, good intentions and inclusitivity 🙈💕
I’m a bit disappointed tbh, when you review a product you should do your research on it and the research wouldn’t be hard considering all you have to do is read the instructions or recommendations 😬.
Yes! Nobody has appreciated the why enough. Viewers are the ones educating other viewers (and the UA-camrs who read comments). I watched for hours on release day and learned so much about the packaging and brand, but it wasn’t until today in the above comments that I read about how the sponge is less dense so it’s easier to wring out. Every review video I watched commented so much on the sponge, but they didn’t know it was intentional and not meant to be “lesser quality.” Also disappointed at how many UA-camrs didn’t read the pamphlet about there being both matte and dewy blushes, or mentioning that there are more colors than what they were sent. They don’t have to read the pamphlet on screen if they feel that doesn’t make a good video, but you’re right, they should educate themselves on what they’ve been sent and are reviewing.
Samantha Raventhal Ravendaughl? Ravenclaw? Idk how to write her name lol but she gave a pretty good review because she didn't just do a first impressions and also does another mini review in her favorites video. I appreciated that.
It’s called a makeup review. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, just like you are. Just because you like something doesn’t mean someone else has to. Also the balls on top of the products were never mentioned by Rare anywhere. It’s a rumor. In fact Rare beauty emailed someone saying that the balls weren’t for helping ppl with arthritis etc. It was just a happy coincidence. Kristi was being fair and not negative in her review.
With this being the 5th review I've watched for Rare Beauty, I feel safe saying this line has very strong K Beauty influences. I'm thinking of trying the lip balm and blush.
I actually like how you looked before you added the extra blush. It’s nice to see makeup being more natural instead of instagram. The amount of makeup people gob on is obscene .
I tried 1 of the 2 brushes in the video! The other was just for concealer I think and I used the sponge for my concealer but I’ll for sure try in the future!
As someone who is going more towards natural looks lately, I’m extremely excited to try this brand. I know once I go back into the office I’ll want to continue wearing more natural/minimalist makeup. Also I feel like the mostly cream products was 100% intentional as those who suffer from Lupus tend to have dry skin. My skin is more combo/oily t zone but I definitely prefer or more cream/dewy look now that I’ve hit my 30s 😂
i believe she didn't use a stronger magnet with the idea of arthritis in mind. All her packing is supposed to be easy open for people who might not have the best/ easiest grip.
Okay, I think you look stunning and radiant in this makeup look!! The lip color looked great on you and your skin looked luminous, natural, and flawless. I loved it!!
Josefine Hoestermann Seconding Alexandra Anele, I love watching her & she is SO technique focused. Would add Robert Welch and Wayne Goss I have gotten to where I really don’t watch many review/impressions videos though. That’s probably why Alexandra Anele and the others are top of my list. They are more artist focused.
I think I definitely overdid it on the foundation, I will try it again with a light hand and way less product and let you all know how I feel 💕
This look is so beautiful on you!!
Why didnt you try the eye liner?
Is it so hard to film and not talk about baby??? I remember with my 1st it was all I wanted to talk about. However by #4 I was the total opposite. Yes I’m pregnant. It’s a boy. Name is Jesse. Due in December... now let’s move on lol
The fun and joy of baby # is like no other ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️✨✨✨✨
I wasn’t a fan of the yellow undertone tbh. Also can you please tell me how you deal with the little lines under the eye when pulling shadow down to the lower lash line??? I do it and the shadow ALWAYS collects there somehow
I think you were overly generous in your review. It sounds like the products are not really good.
Considering how she designed the foundation, concealers and blush with the ball on top to help people with disorders and weakness open them more easily, I wonder if the magnet on the lip balms is kind of loose for the same reason
Zahra Tayebali Selena has shaky hands herself if you saw her make up tutorial, I love that she thought of others who might have the same issue
plasticsky yeah I have very shaky hands due to having pcos so I appreciate this a lot. 😭❤️❤️
Interesting. How does the loose magnets help people with arthritis? Sorry I’m not trying to be rude I’m just curious.
Honestly I’m surprised to say that this is the first launch in years that makes me want to try all of their products. I didn’t have that feeling in a really long time.
I feel the same
I never (I mean never) go and buy anything right after a launch but for some reason I felt the need to. I love how genuine Selena seems and how relatable she is. I honest to God went to Sephora 30 min before closing because I needed to try some of her products lol
Same! 😌
Me too. I like my natural face but I was a little make up to feel put together and girly. So I’m excited
Same!
I love how they only sent youtubers 3 shades around their skin tone instead of the whole line, wasting products
Same! I reeeeeally appreciate the smaller pr package. Eco me is happy
I always hate when they send the entire line! I'm sure it makes sense for pro makeup artists who would actually use all of them on clients, but most beauty youtubers dont really do makeup on anyone else but themselves.
It also means they actually thought about what would fit them. I like it
I think is the proper thing to do on quarentine. You can always donate to your family and close friends
Yea I feel like this is the same issue she had with glossier iirc
So true. You only need a little of the products. They blend so nice. I am liking this makeup trend, more natural, but having great coverage.
Lori Frederick yes! And for me that I have dry skin looks that it would do wonders and it wouldn’t look cakey at all. Wanna buy it so bad

Y'all should also watch the newest NikkiTutorials video she does with Selena.
@@kristyrussell1748 I did, Selena was so adorable 😊
Tiny Space Goat she was! I loved it.
I seriously don't see why so many people reacted so negatively towards this brand. I remember reading some headlines a couple years ago, before fenty even launched, that Selena was working on her own brand so I really don't see this as a cash grab compared to other brands/ celebrities. And considering that this was in the works a couple years back, I'm surprised how much the aesthetic of the brand fits in 2020
I think makeup line are no cash grab any more. Ppl keeping coming up with one and ppl are accepting them.
I like how everyone on the comment section it's in love with the brand and products despise the fact that most influencers aren't extremely exited or in love with them 😂 we trust you guys but not that much
Lol it is true!!
😂
@Tribulation Force I mean even if selena explains it or if its everyday glam everyone's skin is different so in the end what works for selena won't work for the rest of these gurus idk why people get mad when they end up not liking it
The influencers are jealous of mainstream celebs and now it's popping up.
The products are made for people with weak and shaky hands so each product is easy to open and you don’t need to use too much pressure to use.
Because I have arthritis, I nearly cried when I found out that she did this. It kind of makes me (feel) recognized and special.
Michelle Smith same. Must be a Michelle thing!
@@meechie1159 😄😄
I think this would be good for older women too tho :)
Celeste yessss
I was going to say the exact same thing, its def good for young girls (tweens)...And I agree with Celeste too, also perfect for mature skin 😃👍
Makeup artist also use this kind of makeup, very minimalistic and natural it’s very useful for editorials and no makeup makeup look .
Except poor Rach from Rach Loves here on YT. She had a TERRIBLE go at the eye liner... :-/
I do SO appreciate the “turned down lights” moments. So helpful to get a true impression of the texture and color payoff.
I was thinking the exact same thing...I wish ever UA-camr did that
To be honest I only want to see it with the lights down. I feel like that’s the truest way to get an idea
I think everyone is doing this wrong (my opinion) Selena did a “tutorial” and she used so little of everything and it made her look gorgeous and natural . This makeup line is suppose to look natural and not full coverage makeup
Ikr. Thats the thing alot of the youtubers r used to heavy products. Full face not natural.
Yes! It’s supposed to be light minimal makeup, which personally I prefer! 😊 It’s not supposed to be full glam like most makeup gurus are used to. The products are not being used the way intended and shown. When Selena used them, she looked absolutely mesmerizing 🤩
Couldn’t agree more. This is a natural looking line, hence all of the cream products.
They’re still struggling to embrace “less is more”
YES! It's supposed to be light/medium buildable coverage.
Agreeeeeee
some have soft filter and gazillion professional lighting but they still cake on the foundation 🤣 like are they even going out?
I'm about to watch this video now, but I know at least Manny got the point of the line being more natural looking. So far everyone agrees on the sponge lol
This feels like makeup for like real people and I dig the company’s focus on easy open and environmentally friendly packaging. I’m into it
Agreed! Naturally is good . Is you take care of your face you don’t need a bunch of make up 🤷🏻♀️
@@vivanicaragua6940 I also agree. Healthy skin is the best base for any type of makeup.
@@Purpleroses1974 having healthy skin doesn't mean you won't flush or have uneven skin tone. There's lots of reasons a person would prefer a full coverage without implying they must have "unhealthy" skin.

Video idea for influencers: all the products you said you’d give us an update on
👏 👏 👏 definitely with this one.
@tdmr I know exactly what she meant. She said exactly what she meant. I was saying (adding) I would like an update on this one specifically.

I think she'll release those in the future if her brand does well.
this comment is soo soo much true❕
I think people don’t realize that she didn’t made Instagram make up,she made everyday make up. Huda made IG/YT make up,this is light, more like Chanel mu. So I think that some YT reviews are a bit unreliable...
Profitt did I say bad? I said unreliable because of their mu style. Her and Manny had the same problem because they did their makeup the usual way and that’s full coverage and instagram make up so obviously this didn’t quite work for them...learn to read..
Agreed!
Profitt this review is pretty bad....she didn’t really like anything. Manny didn’t like it much either.
The minimalist and natural style of makeup, but more than a tinted moisturizer and barely there pigments that you can literally whip up in your bathroom with standard makeup products
*Edit: I like the less is more idea but if I’m paying more to get less aka Glossier it’s not worth the money 😕
I personally love Glossier, so I feel like Rare Beauty it’s the same but for the Natural yet With Coverage days. Will definitely be getting products !
W L
Strongly agree! From what I understand the foundation is awesome *if* you go light and shake the bottle 1st. And the blush/concealers are super pigmented so little baby dots will do. Which is actually using less makeup, instead of like glossier, where you have to use just as much, but it looks like less.
I don’t think this is anything like Glossier, totally different level of natural
You should check out Em Cosmetics! I feel like Rare Beauty reminds me more of Em Cosmetics than Glossier.
I watched Miss Jackie’s review as well as this one and BOTH of them looked stunning with this makeup on. They just don’t... see it? It might not be what they wear all the time but they both look amazing.
Natural is beautiful, they're used to making their face unnatural
On camera though. That’s the problem.
Which I haven’t watched Jackie’s video. It’s hard to see what it really looks like in person.
i think this line would benefit from a second impression video from you. now that you're familiar with the textures and pigmentation, since it does seem like very different coverage than you anticipated

On some days there’s nothing like a tinted moisturizer.
I was skeptical about this brand, but you look RADIANT. I want this shit.
Aside from the glossy lip, this gives me the "no makeup makeup" look you get in period dramas. I kind of dig it. Anyone else, lol?

Yes, you're right! I've been watching The Borgias thinking about how to get those looks.
This makeup is not meant to be full coverage/glam. Its meant to be subtle, minimalistic and very natural. Soft barely there makeup to enhance your beauty not cover it is her brand message
I’m so disappointed that so many influencers don’t bother to read the accompanying information. They don’t bother to find out how best to put it on.
But also, maybe people want their make up to be more "intuitive" than that? I mean, blush is blush as far as I'm concerned.

The listings on Sephora all have a lil tutorial with the pictures. 😆 I find it kind of hilarious that every influencer's video I've seen is basically them struggling and the comment section is full of people telling them how to use it. It is intentional!
i honestly found the final makeup look to be so complementary to you, you looked so natural and beautiful.

Yes!!! Like Flower beauty, these products would definitely purchase more and use on the daily.
it's interesting that the vibe of the makeup is 2020 when it probably took years for them to work on that many products and a launch.
Selena said it took 2.5 years to create!
While I understand some may prefer full coverage all the way...Test the brand on meeting its claims not just whether it’s full coverage enough. Influencers are supposed to understand versatility in make up and adjust accordingly. It’s like buying a dewy foundation and complaining that it is not matte at all.
Strongly agree
Edit: I only applied a couple of dots of foundation though, I definitely think less is more with this one.
same I think you need a little bit
Yeah i think people need to tone it down with how much foundation, concealer, and powder they use IN GENERAL.
Shales Marie Yeah I think that’s why some people say the foundation is bunching up.
@Rachel Rut I can’t wait to try it!! Did you find it easy to pick the right shade for yourself?
I used a tiny amount and it still bunches up HORRIBLY. On normal skin and dry spots, it clings to everything and even the hair on your face

I recommend for everyone to watch the videos on the Sephora app of Selena actually demonstrating how to properly use the products ! Very insightful and a lot of Easter eggs and background on each product.
Vogue too!

As many times as she patted it, I think it should have activated. Lol

Same! I love lip balms but my lips are always chap so I usually don’t use it much
Highlighter I rarely use now but seeing the rare beauty one I would probably give it a try again tbh
Same here with the lips - I feel ya girl!
Brenna Tarpley lol the struggle 😭🤷🏻♀️
ah yes. this is the ultimate _”french”_ girl makeup and i am loving it
Selena has always been into cream products for yearrrs, she is even the reason I bought my first cream blush when I was in HS so definitely very on brand for her!
*Yesss this was the review we were waiting for*
omg i love u both!!
If Cassandra is here, you know it’s going to be a good video. Love you C!
OHMY!!!! my heart just missed a beat when i saw your comment! Have the biggest crush on you. ☺️
"But you know...that's what makes me rARe"
me: *subscribes*
Good choice, Kristi is great.
I honestly think this is the best full face u ever did you look naturally beautiful and glowing even the brows look so good.
I also heard all the packaging is made for those with disabilities! Which I think is prettttty neat
Wow! That is so awesome!! ❤️ Really impressed with the ethics of this brand!
I think they did find with it! They need to work on making their labeling a bit more accessible to those with dyslexia tho
So gorgeous! I think the dryness you experienced with the foundation was because you exfoliated without hydrating. Exfoliating actually dries out your skin so it’s super important to follow up with other skincare to lock in moisture! Great video xx 💗💗
“Oh my GOD in Heaven, hallowed BE.” This is why I’m subscribed 😂
Gorgeous!
Holy geez you filmed and edited this so fast!!!! YOU ROCK
I really like everything. I apply my makeup with a REALLY light hand so I'm sure I wouldn't have any issues using these products. I like how much thought she put into the brand and the name
I love how honest your review like I always watch your reviews before I spend any penny , you open my eyes on things I never think about
I feel like the line is more for those who enjoy a light layer of makeup like me🙂 I don’t enjoy a heavy face so I’m so excited to get my package in🥰
Video collab with you & Kathleen: What’s that smell? You both come up with a list of scented products and each write your own answers, then film your reactions to each other’s guesses/answers.
This!!!
Yes!!!
I really appreciate how they sent influencers PR that made sense. Only a couple foundation and concealers. And then blushes and highlights that make sense for their skin complexion. This launch and brand surprised me in the best way possible.
Seeing everyone put a ton of blush has become my fav part of the review😂here we go againnnnn
this feels like it was more of a 1st impressions video, I would love to see an actual review once you have learned how to best use the product. Giving a review after the 1st time seems unfair to the brand because you are not used to the product. This is more a natural low coverage line not the full coverage heavy makeup most youtubers are used to.
I agree.
Definitely an unfair review. Unfortunately she did not research the brand or the purpose of the packaging.
McKenna H it’s not unfair. It’s just her opinion, everything isn’t for everyone
I’m 34, no Botox ever nothing cosmetic, real wrinkles and lines and I LOVE this foundation. I love a light coverage and this is so far my favorite I’ve ever tried
"The Tip is too wide"
Me: Thats what she said
It’s the plucking of the chin hairs for me😭 I love how real and relatable you are💕
Im honestly a little disappointed at most of the reviews ive watched so far 😅 Nothing against any of the youtubers cause some of my favorite youtubers have reviewed it but so far on all the reviews Ive seen the comment section was full of people telling the youtuber on how to use the products, why the magnet on the lip product is so loose or why theres a ball on top of the packaging..which all of those things are so easy to read up.
Kristi: "oof baby just moved"
Me: 😍🥺😭 awwww
I actually like how you looked before you added the extra blush. It’s nice to see makeup being more natural instead of instagram. The amount of makeup people gob on is obscene .
you should've tried the brushes it came with they're GOOD
I tried 1 of the 2 brushes in the video! The other was just for concealer I think and I used the sponge for my concealer but I’ll for sure try in the future!
@@RawBeautyKristi the bigger brush seems to be amazing for the foundation
All the reviews I've seen everyone ends up looking... pretty. Like, catch yourself in the mirror and feel good, just pretty.
that’s exactly how I would put it!! ✨
The products remind of k-beauty brands like laneige, innisfree, and all those coz of the pigmentation of the blush
Actually some of the products are made in korea, i think the blush is one of them
@@dianaleyva6860 oooh that's whyyy. They love and make good blush products there.
Zymon B. Oh I’m looking for a pigmented liquid blush , which k beauty blush do you think is the most pigmented?
@@cameronhowe1110 Peripera Inks are pretty popular for being very pigmented and affordable
Okay, I think you look stunning and radiant in this makeup look!! The lip color looked great on you and your skin looked luminous, natural, and flawless. I loved it!!
It's so sad to me how the beauty Community is so big but I can only trust Kristi to give it to me straight no gimmicks
Check out samantha ravndahl too. She's perfection and kristi's close friend
You should really check out Alissa ashly’s review she’s honest and natural 🥰
I feel the same way... But over the years, I’ve come to respect Chloe Morello’s opinion though. She seems very honest and legit
Alexandra Anele and Sam Ravndahl are two good ones, too!
Josefine Hoestermann Seconding Alexandra Anele, I love watching her & she is SO technique focused. Would add Robert Welch and Wayne Goss
I have gotten to where I really don’t watch many review/impressions videos though. That’s probably why Alexandra Anele and the others are top of my list. They are more artist focused.
