THese people sure do love their work. Their health is doomed for generations to come. THe whole region is extremely polluted, with acids rivers, rain and smog. People live till 45 over there and by that time, at least half develop cancer. Plants dont grow here, and if they do, - its somebodies toxic gardens, which they have to sustain to be able to feed themselves, because the pay inst sufficient enough to pay for the whole family.
Well, all of that is true, but we are ALL responsible for this, too. We are ALL using the stuff they produce there, the wealthier the more. If we start critizicing what happens there without throwing all out tech away, we are just hypocrites. I also dislike the conditions in the mines worldwide. But would we really pay the extra 500+% on a product that was manufactured in good conditions? I really doubt that.
God damn it, how I hate when people work in places where the working conditions are so poor that their health is at risk but they still do it because they have to eat.... Such a sad, pathetic story of (actual) human life....
This does remind of Soviet propaganda. It's so over the top that is almost comical. Unfortunately, they didn't seem to understand the dangers of creating a massive chasm between the official story and reality, resulting in people disbelieving anything they said.
Nickel and cobalt are both chronically and acutely toxic. Based on the lack of breathing protection gear, one can only assume that emphysema, COPD, lung cancer, and immune system disorders are almost a certainty if you work in this hellhole for more than a few months. It's pretty disturbing when the narrator prattles on about how "heroic" the workers are and how happy they are to cripple their bodies doing this job. Propaganda and lies all of it.
well... come on, throw away all your tech, your car (most cars of the world use the palladium that came out of the mine), basically everything. Or keep it and spend your life petitioning and fighting for better conditions and pay the extra price for it. Would you pay 4, 5, 10 times more for "fair" produces? This is the sad truth - we are all responsible for stuff like that, too. Cause we are part of the system that allows such stuff. It is easy to sit before the PC and talk about the issues - problem is, that PC most likely uses metals mined there.
I worked in several industries. I was potentially exposed to HIV, Hepatitis viruses, Prions. No industry is perfectly safe. No industry does not extract its toll on the body, including office work. Where I work we put in ten hour days. A lot of my colleagues walk like old men and old women, stooped and limping. They squint like cave people. Find me an industry that does not tax the body.
@@MasterCakeX5 Yes and No, if you want to exist in modern society and not live under a bridge or alone in the woods, you are forced to use technology. The system in itself is to blame, not the citizens, most citizens bravely obey and now it is their fault, because they are using stuff which is produced under bad conditions? This thinking is twisted and infused by the system itself, the governments are responsible for this shit, because it is much easier to blame the citizens, than take responsibility, because our governments are the system. Today, international companies are to blame too, but not the everyday working guy... Stop pointing your fingers to the next guy, look up, all shit comes from above.
Would you retire in Norislk? The average Russian man retires at 60. Wouldn't they want to move to some quiet rural area where their Ruble buys them more things? Maybe they would want to move to a small plot of land, raise small animals to eat, a vegetable garden and live quietly with their spouse?
I figured that deaths in the mines and factories would drive down life expectancy. So would Seasonal Affective Disorder caused by lack of sunlight. People are not in Norilsk because of the weather. They are there because of the wonderful deposits of metals.
maybe somethin bring to my information to smelting proces and sistems, becose my investigation is for smelt a mountain of scrap in antique smelting german company in mexico 100 years ago, now this scoria contains very important metals gold silver platinum etc im find prices sistems expert people to make this work, thanks norilsknickel
I work for a nickel smelter in Canada . yes there many bad condition's such as s02 led asbestise. but i dont know were u got 10k USD / year. i make 156,000$Cad / year bass of 40h a week and were not happy with company . they do not invest in higher air filtration for are helf. and Goverment are not Strick on emission's
Norislk is far away from anywhere else. If they pump SOx into the atmosphere, it creates acid rain, what is going to happen to the Arctic ocean downwind? You are making roughly double what I take home for Office work.
Horseshit propaganda AKA bullshit advertising. Norilsk is so polluted that it was designated a closed city in 2002. For some reason I find that funny, in a fucked up sense.
It reminds me of soviet movies. As the they say about workers, "They will work over-time, because life in the country depends on them."
it has the wording of the Bad Old Times - only the English pronounciation improved. No word about the immense pollution.

I've heard stories about how you can literally be caught in a "pocket" of little to no oxygen that wonder around the city. Is that true?

Lol we have the same shit in america.😂whats the difference.if u eat chicken you eat cancer its paracetic acid😂
Just read that this place releases more sulfurdioxide in a year than all of the United States of America combined, pretty nuts….
Keep mining guys, deeper and deeper. You're going to release a balrog if you keep it up.

The oldst man in Norilsk is 55 years old!!
It is not possible!?

@12valvepower1: of course; since the city is closed, NN is a statutory monopoly.
The entire world depends upon them. I wish that they had better safety glasses... but I'm an American. Perhaps we are spoiled?
👍👍
I agree. Too bad it's a closed city since 2002.
Grass and flowers look at the sun? I doubt that with all the toxic smoke in the air around Norilsk
Hahahaha yeah I bet these people really love their jobs😄😄 i/G\i
Is very blyatiful
@alexanderptkv1: Huge pollution problems there, hence the low life expectancy.

Should see NOrsk Hydro plant!

Wow. I'm not sure if this is a translation from Russian, but... this sounds like propaganda.
propaganda?

Булькает - булькает, на нагло-саксонском, хрен поймёшь, что!
i'm here just to watch the forges, so stop it with the propaganda already.
Lol Shpongle
