We had a blast with Cruise Director Lewis on our last cruise! Our daughter is one of the singers in the theatre and this is her first cruise contract on the APEX. She got very lucky to have such an incredible crew to work with onboard and is looking forward to traveling to Europe for the first time!
We are always amazed at how beautiful and fun a cruise ship is, but we LOVE cruises because of the people/crew. I actually find I get attached to them over the course of the cruise and feel sadness at leaving them.
We were lucky enough to see Lewis with his wife and baby boy onboard yesterday (change over day - they were only in the shop for a few hours)! Loved this video!
Absolutely loved cruising with @CrusieDirectorLewis on the Celebrity Apex! He is so funny 😅 and full of energy. Our daughter is a singer in the theatre production cast and Lewis has been great to her! Thank you Lewis, it puts my mind at ease knowing she has the support staff like you on the ship! Lewis seems so fun and energetic. I really enjoyed this interview. I would think a crew member leaving his or her family for months at a time would be so difficult. The best part of being a crew member is the privilege of seeing the world. These dedicated people work so hard so provide us passengers a safe and fabulous vacation. It seems Cruise Directors are always working. I wonder if they ever sleep!
Oh wow! We were on the April 6 2024 cruise to St. Thomas, St. Martin, etc. and the crew was amazing. We did the behind the scenes tour and it made us appreciate the hard work. Lewis was so funny in the theater introductions. We have not sailed in 30 years but it was so positive, we will be back.❤
#Replay!! Absolutely loved being able to cruise with CD Lewis on Equinox and Apex. One of the funniest and personable human being I have met as a member of the senior officers. Hey Guys! Due to a horrible incident (you may or may or may not remember) canceling our celebrity cruise awhile back, I haven’t checked the channel or any travel channel in some time. I can’t believe the number of subscribers you have now! A long way from the under 5,000 when I first subscribed! As things here are greatly improved I started looking at my favorite travel people again. As usual you don’t disappoint. Great content ! ❤
Great video. We got the chance to meet little Camden yesterday with the proud dad Lewis (also one of our favorite cruise directors) He was able to spend a few hours with them aboard before we left the port.
@@JJCruise Yes he is. We have spent the last few weeks aboard the Apex with Lewis. We go home at the end of this cruise for 5 nights then back on for the transatlantic until June 8th. I believe we will also get to meet Lewis's parents on one of the cruises. Miss you guys!!

Could you please recommend a possible gift which would be appreciated by a crew member, male and/or female? This loyal Celebrity guests appreciates what you all do...and I'd love to show it in some way on future cruises.
2 things...I noticed you didn't talk about the long hours the employees put in. I was also surprised that Lewis met his wife on board. I just got off a Royal Caribbean cruise and heard from a couple different employees in different type of jobs that they are not allowed to date passengers or they will get fired.
Hey Jared. 17 yrs? Wow. Amazing living quarters? Perhaps things have changed on these newer ships. My bestie and I saw a shared room back in 92 and it was basic and quite small. Seeing the world must be fabulous. But do all get to go out? A server told us the amount of time off the get is measured by the amount of mentions in surveys. That was on a Carnival ship. My question is how do they get paid to purchase their discounted necessities? Do they have an employee sail n sign type card? I know Lakewood Ranch in Florida. Absolutely beautiful community. I am the survey queen. I often wonder about crews mental health. How they cope with long hours and being away from their spouses, children, girl or boyfriends, family and friends. Is it complimentary for the crew to see medical? Yes. Unfortunately some rude, disrespectful, entitled passengers. Congrats on his baby boy. Yes. Miss that 1st step or word, graduations, weddings births , birthdays. It’s a big sacrifice working on a ship and I appreciate all that they all do. Great interview. This was needed.
Yes! Every cruise line may be different but they get options for payment. Some living quarters are shared but do progress as they get promoted and are often different on premium/luxury lines. Most things onboard including Medical are at discounted rates than guests or complimentary pending what the service or need is. Thanks for watching!! 🥳
Not everyone gets to go out, eg. galley crew, security are at their busiest while the ship is in port. On most lines salaries are paid into a remote banking account which crew can withdraw cash from or use as a debit card both onboard and ashore. I have 2 sons who work on cruise lines (1 being on Celebrity) and the other on a different line, and this is the banking method that both of them use
Sorry, guys, but inteviewing the top management - cruise director, you will not know about real crew life. Get the interview from real crew - stateroom attendant, waiters, galley staff, pool attendant - they are the one, who is really struglling - working 12-16h per day (yes, on embarkation day some of the position are working such a long time), eating the same boring food in crew mess every day, sharing cabins with 2-4 roommates, paying crazy prices for internet, and still being punished and forced by management, without normal medical assistance for whole contract. The top management as cruise director has enyoing life on board, with huge massive cabin, a lot of benefits such as acces to eat in all restaurants on board, free laundry, huge salary etc. Sorry, it's not a crew, don't advertise this video as a crew life, because cruise director has piece of cake on board, now crew life!

Yes, there is an HR Officer onboard a part of the Executive Committee.
