I was born in Ireland in 1973. My family immigrated to Canada in September 1981 a few weeks before school started. The kid, much bigger than me asked me to play street hockey. I had no idea what that was. He put some pads on me and began taking shots. His dad came out and brought us each a bottle of Coke. Mich would become my first best friend in Canada. His dad was recently traded to Toronto after playing for Don Cherry in Colorado. I met Rick, Jacques and a bunch more. What a class guy.
Miss you Buffalo Auditorium...

This building was the the place I lost my live hockey virginity at. So many games and concerts.
I have great memories of the Aud. My first game was in the Golds and the sad part was, they demolished that building for a deal that completely fell through. Bass Pro Shops completely screwed the City of Buffalo over.

Unfortunately I never saw a game at The Aud, but saw many a games at the Spectrum in Phila. The old barns had their own personality and mystique. The new arenas are huge, have great beer/food selection and plenty of bathrooms, but are sterile, cavernous, cookie cutter and virtually all the same.
A part of me died back in the summer of 96 when I walked into the flyers new arena and you are greeted by ‘welcome to Comcast country’. Towards the top of the inside of the building. Nothing referencing the flyers or sizers, just fcking Comcast
Philadelphia new arena same year as Buffalo got there new arena. I miss the Aud as the Spectrum is missed in Philadelphia.

Those teams needed no help scoring then. Where is that guy now to help in the crossroads...marine midland...hsbc...now keybank Arena. I refuse to call it a center.
