You're so relaxed .. that landing! That frightened me, but no! You just take it in stride! Good Job!
Ex-Coventry-Kid, from four decades back. Great to see the old stomping grounds and the 'green' of Warwickshire. Thank you for the memories. :)
Thanks Ben as always great skills and video, thanks for sharing keep up the excellent work.
Thanks Ben, lovely clear audio, your really helping me with my RT. Currently learning at Sywell. Done solo cross country next. Cheers
Nice trip down memory lane for me. I learned at Cov some years ago. I did wonder why full flaps in a strong wind. Thanks for posting.
Great video. Been to Leicester a couple of times but never Coventry. Looks interesting. Keep up the good work.
21:18 my beloved GOVMC. Did my first solo in that 😍
Really nice short flight 🛩
Well done on that landing, it was great! Loved the video as usual
+CharlieClass156 cheers Charlie
Another great video Ben!
+Going Pro. Thanks a lot!
Nice video. Communication in UK way different that we have in US. Look like great day for flying.
Looks like that wind was a bit fun on the landing - the ASI was jumping nicely! Well controlled :)
I've only been in to Coventry once - on my Night Rating Cross Country. Left East Mids with my instructor in the Warrior, headed down to Cov, landed, picked up another instructor and his mate, headed back to East Mids. Proper air taxi flight! Genuinely one of the most fun flights I've had!
+Nick T your trip sounds great! Thanks for the comment
A friend and I did several flights on our powered paragliders up to 4500' in the summer of 2018 in Warwickshire between Leicester and Coventry below the Daventry CTA. I was really quite shocked to watch this video and to see the amount of time you spent looking down at the instrument on your lap and side observation rather than forward observation at your 12 o'clock. We are small aircraft flying vfr around at around 28 knots which is a slow speed where you can quickly make ground on us and which is little speed for us to avoid contact if we are approaching head on.
Without any disrespect intended, it is worth always being mindful and on the look out for paramotors which fly legally under VFR without transponders.
Hi Ben, brill vid, have watched you from a novice to a very competent pilot.
Onwards and upwards.
Stephen.
+Flyer Doyle thank you, Doyle! I look forward to filming and releasing more.
Nice to see you at my home base! I do my training there with Almat :D
+Manders I really like Coventry, will definitely be back again!
I know what you mean about parking planes. If I don't like the spot, I just shut it down and push back in.. My attitude is that the hassle of getting out the tow rop / bar is a lot less than the hassle and stress of dinging something :-)
+Clear Of Cloud true, I just find the parking a nightmare!
Love your videos sir! just started a channel of my own - I'm based out of Westchester, New York, but I've flown from Compton Abbas a few times. You've got a great channel here. Keep it up. That's a sub from me!
+Ollie House Flying Thanks a lot Ollie, good luck with your flying!
what a landing!
+PedTheBedHead thanks, was a bit windy!
Such a shame cov isn't full atc anymore 😔
hi ben I'm getting told to climb out at 70 and climb at 80 in flight?
What's the music at the start Ben?
Did they add extra grease to the runway for you especially, or do they do that for everyone?
+The Flying Reporter haha! I seem to be good at landing the PA28, no idea how!
Great when you can here your instructor on the radio
+JS Gaming haha cool!
What's the music at the start of this Ben?
Great video Ben, I too like Leicester airfield, lovely people. How GA accessible is Coventry? I always presumed it'd cost a fortune to visit?
+Andy Taylor about £20 to land or something can't remember tbh!
Good to know. Added to the to do list!
Awesome stuff! Is it true that in the UK, you can't fly VFR at night?
+S4 Aviator you can now you didn't used to be able too.
until 30 mins after civil twilight or after 30mins before civil sunrise!
nice little hop.....windy on the app but nice landing.....yer parking a plane is a bit tricky
+richard c thanks for the comment Richard!
Hi, it seems that if one flies often, that taking in new information from atc/the tower, goes 'easier', nothing wrong with writing it down, perhaps, one day, you can do this short-term memory task by heart, it still needs to settle a bit, right ?
+Backtrack I usually keep it in the short term memory, I do, however, have an exception of what they are going to say to me which helps! Longer clearances such as taxi etc I'll write down.
Great. The short term memory has (and is) being researched in science, try Google 'Miller's magical seven.' There are limits to this memory, hence 'short term memory.' There are some differences in it for anyone, it's one of these aviation things that can be trained, yet, up to a certain point. It can get 'too much', that's why it's good to write it down. Airliners still have cockpit crew in it with old fashioned pen and paper.
My godfather flew into coventry a few times when he came to visit when I lived near Birmingham.
