FX’s FEUD: Capote Vs. The Swans tells the story of acclaimed writer Truman Capote, once a confidante to society’s most elite women, whom he nicknamed “the swans.” However, his act of betrayal effectively destroyed those relationships, banished him from high society and sent him into a spiral of self-destruction from which he would ultimately never recover.

"I think people earn how they're addressed, don't you?"
Very true statement
My goodness Naomi Watts! What a mesmerized performance she just gave in this short but so powerful scene, showing the rage of a dying person who is fighting for her life helplessly but also starting to accept her death sentence
She's so good I forgot it was her after the first 10 minutes of episode 1. She inhabits that character.
Love❤ Naomi Watts. She’s an excellent Actor. 🏆
Love this series so much
The acting is just so perfect
Tom Hollander is amazing
I've watched this series 3 times since recording it
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Geez, Louise, this cast is unbelievable with their acting chops
Right? They all disappeared in their roles , truly superb!
Capote showed that no matter whether ur at the very top of the penthouse or sleeping on the sidewalk of it, we all have our problems don't we
I’ve loved this series, and was so happy to see The Swans (particularly Babe) get some recognition now. Also loving how true the Paleys’ relationship is to the information available, especially how her behaviour and attitude towards him shifted when she knew she was dying; finally being able to release everything she repressed!
She married him for the money, status and security. She had to be the perfect wife for him. He was a hound.
He may of had money but Status, he got that because of Babe. Those were mainly Babes connections and Babes friends. He had the money, thats about it @@alfredbonnabel7022
@@alfredbonnabel7022 Babe was born wealthy. Her mother trained her daughters to be the perfect hostesses. Bill Paley needed her just as much or more than she needed him. (A prejudiced time, shamefully, she had the social acceptance. Country Clubs were really bad, thankfully most all have changed and they are better for it.)
@@alfredbonnabel7022 the Cushing family was no slouch when it came to wealth, and the daughters, including Babe, were known as "the fabulous Cushing sisters" because of the way the girls carried themselves, thanks to their mother's strict training.
@@clarastallworth845 this is know. I also know the Mother preferred Babe to her other daughters.
Great scene... I believe I am seeing Babe and Bill Paley duke it out 👍
We must admit, once Mrs. Paley got hold of the reins she was directing the wagon!
@dawnreneegmail it took her to have cancer to tell him off. She had nothing to lose. Babe played the role for all the luxuries she had and was given. She wasn't a particularly good parent to her children. Babe put herself and husband before all others
I don't think that was rare for that time, and with his position (CBS).( Bill Paley) Babe had to be perfect for the parties, she was the ultimate hostess for her husband. The pictures...etc. She loved her children. Her grandchildren, too. When you're cheated on over and over....it's a whole different feeling in your life. Your back is bleeding, and you have to hide the wounds. They never ever heal.
Powerful. The cast is perfect. Of course they are perfect. As it must be. I will be a mess when Babe dies.
Same
Superb acting and show!!! Every single one of them were magnificent....RIP Mr. Treat Williams❤
I just can't get over how good this series is
This scene was so raw! Whew 😅 we need this series more often! Rest well Mr. Williams, well done ❤️
Treat Williams
Did you know Treat was the brother in law of Gus?!
Wow😮 . Best scene of series by far ‼️👍🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I smoked for 30 years and quit 2 years ago after I got Covid-19. It one of the hardest things I've ever had to do.. many people have smoked until they die becuase it's so hard to quit. I'm so glad that barely anyone smokes today compared to the 60s, 70s, and 80s when almost almost 1 in 3 people smoked.
Barely anyone smokes?!!! Come to small-town Indiana! LOL! Happy that you quit!
In California barely anyone smokes anymore. We're talking less than 5% of the population. Almost all apartment buildings and office buildings are non-smoking properties now. Same with hotels.. only the cheap motels have smoking rooms anymore. And the price of a pack of cigarettes is now $12 most places. When I started smoking in 1983 cigarettes were $1 per pack.
Back then, I'd go to a restaurant and in the lobby there was always a cigarette machine, 35 cents a pack. Cars always came with built-in ashtrays, front and back. Sit down in a movie theater, there's an ashtray sunk into the right armrest. Watch TV (black and white and very fuzzy with a metal hanger as the antenna) and everyone's smoking Walk through any home and find 3 or 4 ashtrays because even if you don't smoke, your friends do.
How did we STAND the stench????!!!
Babe ,quit smoking when she was diagnosed.
Ryan’s eye to detail is sick! You feel like you’re really watching these people! Them telling their own story. It’s like he gives them a second life!
This is the best series that I have ever seen. The actors and costumes were excellent.
She was amazing in this character
She does resemble Babe Paley. I always thought that Sigourney Weaver did a good job-but Naomi Watts is great
This scene is very well done, but the last 20 minutes or so of the episode crossed too far over into fantasy for my taste. So much so that the actual timeline and reality of Truman's death became blurred.
I agree. And they seem to be really trying to push a fictional narrative of Capote and Babe reconciling. Based on what we know about her, I suspect once his short story was published she was done with him for good. We don't know if the thought of her death made her more forgiving, but it could have hardened her heart even more toward him.
@@arctaurussho of all of the Swans, it was Babe who was Truman's favorite, so when she cut him out of her life, he was devastated and basically sought her forgiveness to no avail.
If I have 6 months to live I’m smoking
Sheeeeeeesh…. Blew me away. This is edge of your seat stuff. “Buckle your seatbelts. It’s going to be a bumpy ride tonight!”
My God, that blOuse is divine
The Jeffersons it’s a black American hip hop show from ca.
ACTUALLY the day she got diagnosed she quit that day!
Ok I can understand why her grandaughter would be upset I don't think this was making Babe look bad I thought she was pretty sympathetic here I felt for her
❤🎉❤
This second season was definitely worth the wait! If we have a season three, I hope there won't be as big of a gap!
Trumansaid her only fault was she was perfect ? Idk .....what a great cast
Excellent
Like sands through the hourglass so are the days of our drearies...
Very.SAD Woman
Babe is so annoying here.
Love that lamp
Omg this me and my parents
Parents both chain smokers and had severe copd and me a non smoker...
Couldnt make them stop smoking....
Imagine smoking during her treatment. My god
It's been highly entertaining, and left me very depressed.
She had something you can’t buy she Gm had taste
Yet
You still keep smoking
Luv this series!❤❤❤
Best episode
This whole episode had me in the feels
I looked at this scene differently after reading Babe’s granddaughter’s assessment of this limited series in the NYTimes. I’ll leave it at that.
Crikey 😮
indeed
I'm sad to see her grand daughter Belle (attorney) upset over the series (She states the family was not consulted whatsoever.). I read where Babe's lung troubles started during the arduous China trip and she cut back if not quit smoking then. Hollywood certainly takes liberties for dramatic effect, and when you're from a prominent family, a family member before you guaranteed your personal privacy at risk. We're sorry Belle, please focus on the costuming and the witty script. Your grandmother tracing your face with her long nails as you sat on her lap, or the jewelry box she had made for you with replicas in paste of all her fabulous jewels. Those are the more precious tidbits I scouted for to make the daughter of a pioneering and successful neurosurgeon (I'm retired medical) warm and more of what you remembered.
Where did you read about the “arduous china trip”? Please share the book or article so others can read it. Thanks
@@BroDudeFun I have read tons of sources, when you Google you come up blank??
