Ikea has shelves that are curved, and can be fitted under the sink pedestal - they are open shelves so it doesn't take away from the bathroom
A Suggestion - could you move the sink over to where the white bench is , then you would have more space for cabinets/storage ??
@@catherinehegarty5078 These sound good, can you link them, please?
OHMYGOODNESS! Leave that seat where it is, it's perfect there! You can use it to store towels and sit on it to put your slippers on after a shower x
I believe planning is half the fun of the project. Look forward to your next steps.
This is an investment and will add value to your home....go for it!!!!!
Thank you x
My fav girl! So genuine and funny. Thank you for being you! :)
Wow, thank you! xxx
Love the digital mood board ❤
Thanks Rebecca ❤️❤️❤️
I'm addicted to bathrooms!! It's why I love staying in hotels. I have photos of all the bathrooms of all the hotels I've ever stayed in! Love the idea of the glass shower cubicle. It will really open up and brighten the space. I shall be watching avidly. Love the logical way you've described your plans. You're a clever lady. Xx
Can you put the lovely seat bench in the hallway maybe when you use to put your shoes on or take off shoes. It's beautiful you should keep it. Or an area in your bedroom perhaps or kitchen xx
Yea, I could try find a home for it, or I could gift it to my mam for her house too x
I wish we did not have to wait such a long time for the end result (neither can you, I imagine)😄 But I am 100 % certain that it will become a bathroom fit for a queen, because you have great taste. Good luck with everything, hope you will be able to do it for a reasonable price. Maybe when you give the contractor your charming smile, it will help a bit😊♥️
My girlfriend in England had a bathroom with a soaker tub...a high loo...and a bench like yours to put her bath linen in...we even sat on it to chat as we put our make-up on to go out...we were both on honeymoon in her house and the bathroom has always stuck in our memories of toilette and make-up...never mind the girly chat...our husband's like showers...and all that you do adds to the value of the home...you have helped us to start our bathroom reno x3 washrooms...cheeky thumbs up...will follow each step
Catherine I usually skip after the first ad but I will keep watching to help with your income. I love your content and style, it's beautiful without spending a fortune. Thank you for posting and creating content xxx
So excited for this one! I watching bathroom makeovers. 😊
I love the bench. I think it looks nice right where it is.
Love some of these tips! 💞
Pin what speaks to you without thought or planning, then review and look for trends. Genius!
I’m so excited for you!! Hard work, but it will be so worth it in the end!!🛁❤️
Thanks Nancy. I hope I can get it right ❤️
Hint to subscribers let's rewatch Dainty Diaries to help support Catherine won't cost us anything but will help our favourite UA-camr! Are you with me? Love your channel Catherine!
Aw, I appreciate that Laurie❤️❤️❤️
We did up our small bathroom by tiling floor to ceiling with large (600×600mm) porceline tiles, creating a big walk-in shower where the tub used to be and having a large double vanity where the old shower and small vanity were. The tiny grout lines and single pane shower screen make it easy to clean, and we saved lot by buying all the materials ourselves then getting a tiler, plumber and carpenter to do the labour.
How lovely to see your beautiful smile on TV at the Showhouse Showdown event Catherine!
Aw, thank you Louise x
IKEA for the win. Lol. I was expecting a wreck when you cautioned us. Lol It is already a nice room! Have fun renovating!!
Thanks Kimber ❤️❤️❤️
Subway white tiles are timeless. Also the tile guy could cut out shelf in shower to put shower accessories no need for caddy. A wet room without any walls is another option. You have great results always. Look forward to the big reveal :)
Your Ensuite is a hidden treasure!!! Very smart to renovate! Looking forward to watching you take this journey❤
Thanks Elizabeth ❤️❤️❤️❤️
It's cute how you always say "don't judge." I would certainly never judge when I don't even own my own home yet lol you could use that shower as a pantry as far as I'm concerned lol
Fantastic Catherine. My kitchen finally painted after 12 years of yellow two pack. Island bench Frozen Fountain. Back wall of cupboards and Pantry door Vintage Beige due to darker kitchen. No big kitchen window. You were my inspiration. Love the sage green.
I think you are smart to have this professional done and besides you deserve it.❤️❤️
It's pretty much the only place we haven't seen, so I'm twice as curious 🤭 I always love your ideas. Cheers Catherine, have a lovely evening
You too Poppy, have a lovely evening x
I just ❤️❤️ your little bench/seat and your sink... it’s too bad that you’re not able to keep them... I can’t wait to see your reveal! 👩🏻🍳🤗
Great ideas! The inspo pages and mood board are a great idea. I love Pinterest for some great ideas. You could achieve the look from the sink inspo picture by having the toilet moved down to around where the sink is currently, knock out the shower side wall and replace with glass to give you an extra few inches in width and putting the cabinet in the spot across that back wall next to the shower. If you want heat to save wall space you can get a 3 in one for the ceiling. It has 2 heat lamps, a regular light globe for when you don't need heat and an extractor fan. You really need to move the toilet- whether you move it as suggested above or maybe if that is too expensive turn it around like on the shower inspo page but it is really weirdly located at the moment.
Had to look for you dainty this week you us all pop up on my phone
I love the bench in the bathroom! So sad you won't be able to keep it. You may not like this idea but I could see an old small dresser, painted white, as a base for your sink. I know whatever you choose it will be Dainty beautiful. Take care and be safe ❤️
Dainty, I'm imagining you on your throne with a gold crown 😉. Cheeky thumbs up. 😊
😂😂😂😂 thanks Kristina 👑
Catherine I was watching this video again and I have some thoughts:
•Your plumbing (?) cubby is very bulky with all the molding around the door. See if you can get the cubby flatter and without a frame.
•your pedestal sink is lovely. It will be very crowded if you put in a bathroom vanity. If you need storage, use the space where your bench is and put in a “built-in” like you recently put in your office, with either glass doors or solid doors. It will be easier to see what you have. Vanities are notoriously dark places where things get lost. Consider having the cabinet installed on the wall so it doesn’t get wood rot from being on a damp floor.
•Install a plug-in wall heater with a timer to warm up the bath. Then it will be nice to have a shower! (And a wee in the middle of the night.)
•I love the idea of the wet room but you might need a really steep slope to the drain. But you could do away with the glass shower surround. And it would be roomier. Make sure they put a deep enough pan under the floor to protect your downstairs.
I love your mood boards. You suggested I do one for my apartment bath and it was helpful!
Storage is key - you can never have too much ! Drawers in the vanity are better than doors for me. Exhaust fan essential to prevent mould, odours, etc. Have fun ! Stay safe and best wishes from Australia xx
Your ensuite will be gorgeous! Thanks for sharing!
We found the exact kitchen we wanted on Pinterest. We then created it by covering the cupboards with contact and adding new handles and new splashback tiles. Pinterest is a great way to see what the professionals are doing.
That is awesome Annalisa x
I have a memory board on Pinterest too, I have also made a goal board. It has done me wonders. Love the video!🌸🇨🇦
Can’t wait to see what you do with the bathroom. I know it will be amazing, as all your projects are. Loved the end. Next time I use the bathroom I know I’m going to be thinking “I’m just sitting here on my throne having a wee.” 👍😂😂🚽🧻
Thanks so much! 😊 Lol that made me giggle, Happy Friday!x
I highly highly recommend a wet room, I've got one in my ensuite and it's fantastic. It's so easy not having to step over anything to get in and out of the shower and it's the simplest thing to clean - you can just do the whole bathroom, including the shower floor, with a mop. All you have to do is the the builder to slope the floor toward a drain, get the whole area waterproofed (they paint on this silicon stuff) then the tiles go over that. You could then put in a glass partition between the toilet and the shower at very little cost. It would be difficult to find a shower cubicle for a room with a sloped ceiling and you'd probably have to have something custom so going for a wet room is probably your most cost effective option, especially because you're going to have tiles anyway and wet rooms work best with tiles.
Also you could look for a piece of furniture you could turn into a sink cupboard. Any piece of solid wood furniture properly painted and sealed would work and then you just drill a hole in the top and put a sink on it.
It sounds like you're planning to keep the layout as it which is good moving pipes costs money so if you can keep the shower, sink and toilet where the pipes already are then you're saving yourself a lot.
My parents used a gorgeous antique dresser w/a marble top that had detailed edges, & they found it for very little at an estate sale. Easy to do if you don't want to try keeping drawers (cutting around pipes). Those can be false-front, drawer-looking cabinets. I'd get my dimensions & start searching! We're fully renovating a house in the mountains, & that's one option I'm considering, & we're DEF doing an expoxy/resin countertop to match all else. I love renovating, & repurposing things!
Yes, this is exactly what I'm doing in Hungary now in a rebuild of an old summer kitchen and 2 animal pens, built 100 years ago in one 17 x 17 foot building(5 mtr x 5 mtre). The bathroom and kitchen were old chook kouses/goat pens. The bathroom vanity is an old dressing table which is getting some new feet, new door knobs, and a paint job. A hole is being cut through the dressing table for the on bench vanity basin. I took the mirror off, turned it sideways and it fits beautifully across the width of the available wall spce as did the dresser. Still looking to see how to do the shower. I bought glass bricks as the local guy said he could do them...but I'm finding his "doing" them, just means erecting them OK, but he has no idea of how to finish the exposed edges! AND, the tile and hardware shops around here don't sell the finishing end glass bricks!!! Learning, the more one needs to know about a project, in order to ask ALL the needed questions!
You got me into the herringbone tile now 😆 I may want that in my future home! Can’t wait to see what your bathroom ends up looking like!
It’s a really cute shape and I can’t wait to see what fabulous design you create!
My bathroom is really cold in the winter too. So, after trying several ways to warm up the seat before we sit, we warm it with a hair dryer. It works great on a plastic seat, but I don't know on a wooden one. This is in Canada, we get more than our fair share of cold, so we have to figure it out, lol!
Your little bench(a beautiful piece, btw) is great where it is. A perfect place to sit and cut, or polish your toe nails, or when putting on lotion, etc. I'd keep it.
I'm looking forward to the renovation!
Everything you do turns out great. You have great insite for design. Excited to see your progess and finished ensuite.
Thanks so much Ann! That is so kind x
So EXCITED! Living vicariously through you. Can’t wait to see the final 🎉🎊
Looking forward to seeing your bathroom transform xx
Wow the en-suite is huge, it’s going to look fabulous when it’s done 🤗
Thanks Andrina, I hope I can make its work 🚰❤️❤️
I love it, Catherine! I will say when I redid my bathroom, I thought I’d go get my own plumbing and the plumber said “nope, I won’t put in those cheap fittings, go to this place and get some” now this can mean many things, but my point is I went with the plumber and his expensive fittings and did the tile myself on the cheap and bought a vintage sink from the salvage shop. Kind of the in between. Also when I sold the house my realtor said “thank god you chose white tiles in the bathroom.”
Hi Catherine you are right planning is so important.
Your en-suite is a nice size and it look’s big enough for a sink with a cabinet / storage.
I went with a local company to me who did everything, the main reason was because I had a bathroom put in upstair’s when we used to have our only bathroom downstair’s.
They moved the soil stack pipe as well as a new bathroom. Your pipe work is all there so should be easier.
Whatever you choose to do it will look lovely. Have a lovely weekend 😊💖
Aw thank you for sharing that Jo, I’m glad going with the local Company was handiest for you ❤️
Great investments!!! Smart girl!! I'm so excited for this journey because you have excellent taste🌼😆🌼
Love your channel! Very stressful in the US right now, as well, so your vids are so, so needed! Thank you for all you do!
It will be gorgeous ❤️I love seeing all the planning. I turned the ensuite into an extra family shower room last year and highly recommend Victorian Plumbing for showers etc. The most expensive thing was the plumbing and a shower pump in the loft for pressure off the tank🤦 Most bathroom fitters wanted us to by directly from them so I had to fit a form who would let me choose what we wanted and then they would fit it!! Enjoy the shopping, that was definitely the best bit x
Hi Catherine, I’m glad to see all your rooms aren’t perfect. I’m going to check your web site/Pinterest pictures just for fun. I love your ideas!
I mentioned a while back I wanted to do something with my small, main bathroom and you suggested starting with a good cleaning, that was easy! I really didn’t need to do anything else. Adding a wee faux plant was helpful (not enough light for a real plant).
Sorry 😞 I accidentally hit the send button before I was finished. Anyway you have given me the “bug”, to at least repaint the cabinet and the trim and change the mirror. I 100% agree that it is necessary to do you planning first. Love ❤️ your videos. Ann from Va. USA 🇺🇸
Can’t wait to see what you do. 🙏💜❤️💙
What you consider ugly, many, many people could only hope for. Hard to believe you don't regularly use this room. I was thinking, by the way you were talking, that it was going to be so bad. But it isn't at all. It will be interesting to see what you end up with. Most importantly, it will be a room you will want to use every day, for more than just a wee lol tfs 🐤🌵🌱🌴💐🌷🌻🌞🏜️💗🐣💐🌷🌹🌸🐤🌵🌱🌴💐🌷🌻🌞🏜️💗🐣💐🌷🌹🌸
Can’t wait to see what you do with your bathroom! I’m sure it will be brilliant!! Fun to watch the steps as you go along. Good luck and enjoy the transformation!!
Great information. You could get contractors for tiles and shower and sink vanity install. And the rest you could maybe tackle your self. Maybe even the floor tile. Keep us updated. It's is a cute bathroom space. And don't let contractors talk you into a bunch of other things it will bring up your budget. Take care.🤗😊
Thanks for sharing that Tammy ❤️❤️❤️
I was thinking of what i would like in your space and wanted to share: upper cabinets above potty, glass shower with a tinted privacy affect, heated floor, cover that plumbing door with a jewelry or make-up wall unit on hinges so you can access the pipes area, i would keep the bench and put it where the sink is then put a larger 2 sink style against the wall, (where the bench is now with a huge mirror. The sun light coming in would be awesome over your head while at the sink. Towels rods etc on the wall to the left when you walk in (just outside of shower door could serve the shower and sink. Cant wait to see what you do.
Thanks for sharing Becky! x
When it came to selling our home the bathroom had never been updated since we bought the place. The suite thankfully was white but the tiles were the 4"/10cm square tile with a green veins, awful. So I painted the tiles white using tile paint. I bought a very pretty narrow border thile and a plain dark blue ridge tile for above the border. For the floor I got mosaic in various shades of blue. Then I put glass shelves in the window with coloured glass bottles on. The transformation was stunning and it then became a great selling point to the house (very similar to yours). This was 21 years ago so im certain that tile paint has improved a ton since then. The reason I mentioned this is that you can have the tile colour of your dreams, just paint them when you come to sell the house. Good luck with your project, I'm sure it'll be gorgeous. 💕
You have glorious hair. I would leave the bench (??) in the bathroom, it fits so well in that space.
My bathroom neefs a revamp badly so cant wait to see how you redo yours.
I actually think it’s an adorable room as-is so I’m sure it’s going to look amazing when you’re done with the reno!🧡
Thank you, o hope I can get it right ❤️❤️❤️
What a fun project 🚽🚿can’t wait for updates and see that wall GONE! Just getting read to fit our small bathroom and although I use Canva for work projects I had no idea I could make a mood board!! 😮. Thank you for this info - off I go to make a mood board 🤓
Watching from Australia .I love your beautiful home. I'll be watching the progress in the ensuite😊
Lovely ideas can’t wait for finally 💕
I'd say you could save some money on labour by pulling down the shower cubicle and getting the tiles off the wall yourself. Obviously not the shower itself. I would get a cubicle that has a door opening on the left hand side end and a solid glass panel facing the loo. You will have plenty of room to get a basin with a cupboard underneath. That little bench would be useful to sit on after getting out of the shower, but you could get an old fashioned clothes horse to put towels on? Look forward to seeing how it comes out. Soph.x
This is going to be fun!
I’m so looking forward to watching your en-suite reno.
Loved this and all your plans. Just finally followed you on pinterest. ( i don't know why I haven't before this lol) But yeah I hope we will have a summer this year and you get this reno done!
Oh thanks for this. Given me some good inspiration for my bathroom. It’s in need of a good revamp! I’ll go look on your Pinterest. 😊
Have fun searching for inspiration ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks Catherine for the information. we're excited we can't wait to see what you end up doing with your ensuite. 👍👍❤💚
You always do a video that is so helpful to me and I have been thinking of redoing our guest bathroom. We took out the bathtub about 3 years ago and added a shower in it place. We had to hire a professional for that. The bathroom is a good size but the laundry room is part of the room with Louvered doors that makes it a separate from the bathroom. Now the room has a cabinet with two sinks I think at the very least we need to repaint the cabinet and instead of a mirror that fill the wall behind the cabinet, I would like to find two smaller mirrors that would fit over each sink.
We found a narrow sink/cabinet at Home Debeautiful. It came with cabinet, sink & matching mirror. Don't know what you all have in Ireland. Can't wait to see what you do, it'll be beautiful.
Cant wait to see this come to life😍🌈
Thank you for sharing with us all 👍🏻❤️❤️
Thank you for the tips, I just moved to my perfect place and am working on how to design and lay out the furniture and the decorative items so that it's cohesive and calming. 🤗
Hello can't wait to see the final tfs😍
I like the bathroom the way it is. Just needs a sprucing:) paint and decor!
My farmhouse is a maze of small rooms but when I bought it there were no bathrooms at all. I created a small one by pinching part of the largest bedroom. I was totally out of my depth on the design side of things and 25 years ago there wasn't Pinterest. However I was nursing in the CUH a new hospital and I loved the wet rooms they had attached to the single rooms. The palaver that went into finding contractors to do it and the materials for it was horrendous. However, it was so worth it, it is very practical, easy to clean and very uncluttered and it isn't sterile looking either. I wish I had known about mood boards then.
Oh thank you for sharing that with me Juli ❤️❤️❤️
Cant wait to see what you do with it
Loved, loved this video. Such good advice... very motivational! 🙏💛👍
Brilliant info Catherine.
Thanks Helen, glad you found dit useful, Happy Friday!x
Excited to see how you’re en-suite turns out, something to look forward to. I would definitely have a small heated towel rail put in, there’s nothing more comforting than a warm fluffy towel to wrap round you when you get out of the shower in the colder months! 😊
I was just thinking if you and the fact I Hadden seen any videos by you on UA-cam and there you are. Looking forward to seeing how all this works out as I am work on my brothers bathroom so inspiration helps. Again many thanks for sharing
Oh my, love the small cabinet just inside the door to the left; hope it's in your plans to fit it in, it's cute. And, that cute little bench, it fits perfectly on the wall it's on. I, personally like pedestal sinks they make the room look a bit bigger, more floor space. Then for some storage, if you're not going to keep the bench, could put a small dresser or floor shelf unit in that spot for storage, along with the cute skinny cabinet & medicine cabinet that's recessed in the wall would provide storage. It's a cute room, I like the angles. It's going to be so cute when it's done with all your dainty touches!
I can't wait to see what you do with this bathroom, and I know it will turn out great! Makes sense to go more neutral so it will have a more timeless look! I think your bathroom has great bones and I hope this will be a fun project for you! :) Thanks for sharing your projects and inspiration!
Great tips ,I love the suggestion of the mood board. Thanks for sharing.
You are so welcome! im glad you found the video useful xx
I’m so surprised that you haven’t been using this space. It looks great imo but could use an update. Good luck!
Didn’t you tell a funny story about a pub with carpeting? You could go for that look!! Lol just kidding!
Yep, the painted tile and carpet pub 😱😂😂😂😂
Love your plans! It looks like it will turn into a beautiful space. 💜
Thank you! 😊 Happy Friday! x
Good luck with Ur bathroom 💕💕
Brilliant! I learned a lot. I never know where to start. Thank for sharing 😊🌞
That can be the hardest part just knowing where to start! Glad this helped you ❤️❤️thanks for watching xx
I can see how the shower wall in front of the toilet would make the space feel small. the idea of an open shower area or even just all glass instead of the current wall will make a huge difference.
You are so deserving of getting it fixed up. You work hard, are industrious, clever and certainly not lazy! I look forward to watching the progress on this new venture. The ideas on your mood board look wonderful. You have excellent taste, so whatever you come up with in your budget I’m sure will be great. $3000.00 is a lot of money, but I agree, it’s a specialty, lots of labor. I couldn’t tackle all that plumbing and tiling. And if a contractor does it, it will be done sooner as you say and you can enjoy it! Crossing fingers you get a great estimate from the contractor!
Its really nice
Do not well that pew it's absolutely beautiful x
I was actually making a Pinterest board for me new house while I was watching this ... amazing :P
Yay, happy to hear that, congrats on the new home 🏡
Smart wee cookie !! 😀😄
Hi Catherine, absolutely live the pink herringbone tiles but, agree could easily hate them in a few years. Agree with you about going with the while and adding colour with either paint or accessories. Need to do my own bathroom but can't even begin to know what style I'd like. I would need to do the old fashioned mood board as not tetchy at all. Hope you finally get the beautiful room you so definately deserve. Love watching your videos, makes me feel like I've had a catch up sesh with a mate. Luv n hugs to you n mum honey 🥰 xxx
Its a nice bright good sized bathroom
The Americans call those sinks a vanity... I’m addicted to Drew and Jonathon Scott lol
Looks like a lovely little room Cathrine, so much potential😀
