" I'm sorry, we were just...pretending to fly" That lines hits hard because it shows how the man he was before didn't completely die with his family and even if it was just for a few minutes, playing with this family's daughter allowed him to reconnect with those old memories of his family. I didn't even know who the heck Dr Phosphorus was before this show, but this episode makes me love him.
Barman comics always had a lot of great villains, never getting the spotlight in the animated series, but concepts were reused later. Blight in beyond, for example, was a near one to one of Dr. Phosphorus. So there's implications he was planned for the animated series but cut short. Would of made for a great tragic villain like Freeze in the show.
I love when they take a Z lister nobody has ever heard of and give em such a hard hitting story you have a new favorite character. Always my favorite kind of comic book to read, along with the, "Superhero who really sucks at being a superhero," type ones.
Found it interesting that he went after Thorne first and went after the other guys after. Usually in revenge stories you work your way up, but he started at the top.
Honestly also find it wise in hidnsight. Ya go after the henchies first then the boss will hear of the deaths and prepare for when someone comes for em.

I find the idea that Doc and the goons probably practiced for this whole dance sequence to make it so smooth hilarious, I refuse to believe this was improvised.

Only Gunn can make you both laugh and cry at the same time. It's amazing how well done this whole sequence is with dancing and cutting at the same time to more peaceful days showing the loss and the hole Phosphorus tries to fill in his life. And I love how he again and again introduces people to great obscure characters (some of which becoming huge household names). After this series maybe we will get quite a bit more content with them. Would love it. Phosphorus for instance IIRC has been gone from comics for a while now. Here is hoping. And I love the camp of his henchman having face paint that is meant to replicate him. Big Brave and the Bold cartoon vibes. I love it so much.
I’ve been hoping the Dcu just straight up copies the world of the Brave and the Bold and have not been disappointed so far. That show had JUST the right world building and could handle the dark just as well as the goofy.

Love how Batman shutting the lights to the club isn’t just a scare tactic. It literally eliminated every factor in the room to just Phosphorus since he glows in the dark.

Feel like dc made a joke of batman in the caped crusader but this one cameo made him so badass. Like Dr phosphorus is op as hell but the second batman showed up his fun and confidence disappeared on the spot as he knew this mortal dude without super powers was going to annihilate him

I haven’t seen the show but i do like how they did Dr.Phosphorus in this, at first they stick to the classic version of him, then they do something similar to his Phosphorus Rex counterpart during Grant Morrison’s run, from Crazy scientist to Crime boss is a nice change of pace. Makes me hope he’ll appear in Season 2 of Batman Caped Crusader.
I think he did that because Thorne killed his own family and child and then tried to kill him. Dude went insane from the sheer horror of seeing his wife and kid murdered and then being tortured by being atomized by his own machine while they laughed. Not that it really excuses him but it really puts his own actions after that into perspective. Notably he didn't kill that little girl who found him or her parents probably because she reminds him of his son.
I mean Thorne murdered dr. P’s family, framed him for their murders, and attempted to nuke him to death, so basically all bets were off, if he was going to lose everything he held dear, Thorne was going to lose the same and more.
Probably learned how to better control his powers? Like he's always giving off radiation but Waller implies he normally only does minor, temporary damage

I think he did that because Thorne killed his own family and child and then tried to kill him. Dude went insane from the sheer horror of seeing his wife and kid murdered and then being tortured by being atomized by his own machine while they laughed.
Not that it really excuses him but it really puts his own actions after that into perspective. Notably he didn't kill that little girl who found him or her parents probably because she reminds him of his son.
I mean Thorne murdered dr. P’s family, framed him for their murders, and attempted to nuke him to death, so basically all bets were off, if he was going to lose everything he held dear, Thorne was going to lose the same and more.
