21:54 Jabberers are like, Feeding time! as far as my experience goes animals are good against anything without armor, DF has this weird rock paper scissors dmg calculations, so weapon made of weaker material is useless against better armor. Snipers are amazing, once i had a hunter that after few years become legendary crossbowmaster, then dragon come, and got one shot by -bone crossbow bolt-. Just try to assign station orders instead of kill orders this reduces charging.
Same with fall damage and density calculations of material. So falling -z levels onto feather wood is really safe but, falling -2 onto adamantine spears pieces most things.
Some good tips here, really. I never thought of the benefits of stationing vs kill cmd, but that is a good idea. We'll see if I can remember it when it counts! The whole dragon thign. pleh! I've seen similar situations myself with epic beasts being killed in dumb ways.
@@xzardas541 The damage calculations are absolutely not handled in a Rock/Paper/Scissors manner. A lot of RTS style games do that, sword/spear/horse...etc, so I'm familiar with games that do it, but DF is a simulation and it's pretty good about the things it simulates well. Combat damage is one of those things. It's handled as a progressive scale, getting better with each new material, not in a rock/paper/scissors manner at all. Armor is paramount vs tooth, fist, and claw and that's how it works in real life. If you're wearing a well padded metal armor there's virtually no animal on earth that can overcome that, besides the off chance one hits a weak spot like a joint (which is actually accounted for too). That's just a fact of how armor works and the game simulates it beautifully. Give me steel armor and a sword, I'll wade through 20 dogs like the proverbial hot knife through butter and they might at best bruise me a time or two.
You inspired me to make a fort based around some beast taming, i will be using a wider varirty of war beasts, but if i get any jabberers i will make them a nice thing in honor of this fortress, keep on rocking you magnificent bearded bastard!

13:40 "[the military dolt] took his 3 Jabberrers with him" Eeeeennteerrressting... I think a tower in my world will get some strange raids. I honestly didn't know about that, I never use war animals; unless I find something badass from the elves (lions, tigers, grizzlies, etc) I just don't use war beasts. 24:40 Animals can't get were'd can they? That makes warbeasts a pretty good first line of defense against werebeasts... Honestly, @Kruggsmash, you're giving me all sorts of ideas.. =3
I love the way it seems krug modeled these on terror birds our closest IRL equivalent. Much more sensible than the drawing on the wiki which reminds me more of a giant frog with a beak than anything despite them having feathers.
Oh, eegh. I had a terrifying nightmare recently and I never have em'. I was outside a garage somewhere. I don't know where it was. It was raining, midday, dark, forested area. I started spitting and gagging. Thought I had some phlegm in my throat. I kept spitting it out into a puddle and it kept getting worse and I couldn't breathe. After a bit I checked the clumps of whitish phlegm and saw strands. The strands started to separate from the clumps and swim away. Worms. They were worms. Woke up. How frigging horrible is that?
Looks like jabberers make a fine addition to militia squads. At least they'll serve to distract the enemies if nothing else, and against unarmored opponents they do seem to do some decent damage.

as far as my experience goes animals are good against anything without armor, DF has this weird rock paper scissors dmg calculations, so weapon made of weaker material is useless against better armor.
@@kruggsmash You can also use burrows, High lvl crosbowdwarf turns crossbow into AK 47.
One guy can anihilate whole goblin siege.
@@kruggsmash Maybe you should make of your next goals to be to capture a dragon just for the prestige
Ooh, we interrupt my binge on back-issues for a new episode! Fun!
Haha, yep! Every Thurs!
AEEEEEEEEEEE STARTING THE DAY IN THE BEST WAY POSSIBLE!!!
Coffee too! DOn't forget it!
I LOOOOVE this! A unique and incredible story with each Fortress!!!
You inspired me to make a fort based around some beast taming, i will be using a wider varirty of war beasts, but if i get any jabberers i will make them a nice thing in honor of this fortress, keep on rocking you magnificent bearded bastard!
Also this video left me fearing goblins far more than I did before seeing them rip through jabberers and blind cave ogres. I love your buff were giraffe drawing too!
“Never trust an elf!”
Excellent coloring with the Jabbers. Ms. K is a rock star!
I love the way it seems krug modeled these on terror birds our closest IRL equivalent. Much more sensible than the drawing on the wiki which reminds me more of a giant frog with a beak than anything despite them having feathers.
Oh good. I wake up from a nightmare to find some kruggsmash to wake up to.
Mabey it was fate
Would making two jabberer pens both with nest boxes work? Rotate the jabberers so theres always mingling and fertile eggs happeing
I think an adventure mode series would be pretty good. That was a highlight for me during Honeystoker.
Toady should create a forgotten beast made out of asbestos. Imagine dwarves succumbing months after the fight.
*entire fortress destroyed twice before actually managing to get Jabberer defenses up*
Kruggs: "Yeah I totally recommend doing Jabberer defenses"
I love seeing a bunch of giant chickens kill a bunch of pointy eared tree huggers
Looks like jabberers make a fine addition to militia squads. At least they'll serve to distract the enemies if nothing else, and against unarmored opponents they do seem to do some decent damage.
The Brothers Adams really needs to add mount and bradings for great Jabberer justice!
Are bradings and instrument
Soon, soon }:)
Heeeyyy I just started and finished 1-4 after a long hiatus from your channel, this was so exciting to wake up to!!!
The scourge of meanness are only getting more aggressive because the horde of friendliness has made competition too tough in their homeland.
I kinda like how the Jabbers kinda Freak out if something new shows up that they have not seen before but then like real pet birds they start biting hard.
That feeling when a new kruggsmash video comes out, but you are in a public place with no headphones for the entire day so you cant watch it in all of its glory :(
Just get rid of the people
@@overlordmogg9103 im not in Russia sadly.
@@josephstalin608 then just make it Russia

The muscles on that giraffe, the absolute unit!
This is the last episode I will be able to watch till I get out of boot camp. I ship out to Paris Island Monday keep up the good work.
You make my day when I see your videos pop up. Thanks man
That Were-giraffe is looking ripped af!!
I’m scared!
