  • Every now and again your chain will require adjustment (and lubrication but we'll look at that some other time). This video shows you the hows and whys of how it is done!

You could also just get tape and measure the length on the threads on the chain adjusters

That's quite true in most cases. It's better to learn the proper way before we learn how to cut corners. :)

Hello mate. I have a honda cb 125. It’s creating sound from engine. I’m a student. The market is very expensive. Can you please fix it if I bring it to your shop? I’m watching your videos from a long time ago. You’re very helpful to students and other working labour. Please help me in this issue.

Really there isn’t enough words to express how I appreciate your videos. I recently got my Ls and purchased a CB125e. I have watching almost all your related videos and already cleaned my chain following your instructions and next is the oil change. As you are an expert on this bike I wanted to ask you a question, today I went for a ride and noticed that down shifting is taking sometime. My bike is a 2018 model with over 3,000 Kms. It has the gear indicator and when I am stopping and downshifting, the gears take sometime to engage and during that time there is no gear shown on the indicator. Would you by any chance know what is the reason and how can I fix it?? Thanks

Hi mate! Thanks for the encouragement, I do enjoy making these videos :) The type of gearbox found in most motorcycles (sequential constant mesh gearbox) does not like changing too many gears while stationary. For things to line up within the gearbox and engage the gearbox must be rotating. Its a good practice when slowing down to work your way down through the gears as you go. You can even use this to your advantage and use the engine as a brake. Make sure you don't downshift too soon or you might over rev your engine or even worse if the back wheel locks up from overambitious back gearing. If you end up getting stuck, say you have had to stop quickly and your in fourth gear, if you walk the bike forward or rock it backwards and forwards (yes, while still sitting on it) you can usually get the gearbox to cooperate. Give it a try and see if it helps!

I'm in exactly the same situation. Just got my Ls, have purchased a Yamaha XVS650A Cruiser, but also a really beaut, well kept 2015 CB125e with 4300km on the clock. Currently developing skills and confidence on the CB with a view to transitioning to the XVS over several months. Probably will keep the CB as it's such a zippy little thing to ride.
Your videos are excellent and a very practical help to this 60yo newbie.

@@mymatemartin I'm actually going with your exactly same plan! haha - I sold my previous Kawasaki Z650 - and bought myself a CB125e to use as my commuter/small trips and tomorrow I'm on my way to purchase a XVS 650 as well! But the custom model :)

I really liked the detail of every step you go through. I only thought you missed one thing, loosening the brake torque arm. Other than that, great video...seen a lot.

Would you recommend buying a used Honda instead of a brand new CBR125? Thanks

Hi Mate! I think thats a personal choice that depends on your own needs and situation. If you plan to keep a bike a long time and you can afford to buy it new then it makes sense to go in that direction. If it is brand new and you look after it then you might get better service out of it than buying something someone else may have neglected. On the other hand if its just a stepping stone on your way to a CBR1000RR then a second hand good one might be the better choice. I have to add that I've been riding for over 40 years and I've come into the habit of keeping a small bike (like the CB125E) as well as my bigger machine just in case its needed. A small bike handles those local short trips so much better and saves wear on tear on your pride and joy. Makes sense to buy a good one because you might keep it longer than you think.
