I make them every year, including 2023. Always a favorite.
I made these today and they’re wonderful. I very lightly dipped the tops in sugar after the egg wash. The sugar absorbed into the wash and created a really cool look after baking. They look like little planets.
I’ll make these again and again.
Also just for fun I tried a second batch using brown butter and replaced 1/3 of the sugar with brown sugar. They weren’t nearly as good. This recipe is great as written.

I tried the recipe today. Super tasty. Unfortunately, my cookies fell apart very easily. I can't even give them away in a bag. They were cooled for a few hours too. My sis picked one up and it fell apart.
I dont know what I did wrong. The recipe and instructions are so easy. I wonder if my ground walnuts (toasted) were greasy (didnt add oil to bake or anything).

I’m a newbie at baking. I thought cake flour is used for making cookies and cake, but AP flour is included in your recipe. Kindly clarify? Thx in advance!
All purpose flour should consider as basic flour when come to baking, not cake flour.
