Cowl Neck Dress Tutorial - Cutting and Sewing

I have made so many of these cowl neck dresses that I had to share the making process. You would be able to learn to take your body measurements and cut and sew the cowl neck dress.

You will learn:
1. Cutting and Sewing Cowl Neck Dress
2. Taking Body Measurements
3. Knit Dress Making
4. Fitting the Dress and Ease
Here is the Sewing Project:
A. Use knit fabric with at least 2 yards.
B. Take body measurements of the following:
1. Shoulder 2. Chest 3. Bust 4. Waist 5. Hips 6. Length 7. Armhole 8.Sleeve length 9. Bicep 10. Sleeve bottom
C. Fold the fabric and mark the measurements for back bodice. Cut the bodice.
D. Fold the fabric and place the back bodice on top of it and trace the pattern.
E. To make cowl neck follow the video to move the neck appropriately and do the markings. Cut the front bodice.
F. Sew the garment pieces together.
Wear and check the fitting, and do adjustments if needed.

Hi. How did u measure the bicep round on yr body? Also why in the beginning did u choose at random 7" for the armhole when the armhole was 16.5? You could have chosen 8". Pls explain. Liked yr tutorial. Woild appreciate if you could show some more tutorials?

To measure the bicep round put tape around the thickest part of arm and measure. For a chest of 37 and armhole of 16.5 you need to mark armhole at 7. If you mark it at 8, and mark chest 37 i.e 9.25, the armhole curve will measure around 18 and that will be too loose.

Mam. Why did you take 3/4" deep for front bodice armhole and 1/2" inner depth for the front part of the sleeve?

3.75 to 4 inches is usually marked for the cap of the sleeve.

I did not mark at 4”. At 2.10 the video does not talk about 4 “ marking. Do you want to explain a bit further about your question
